I don't think anyone in the UK has any kind of faith in the politicians "leading" the UK right now.
Bring on Scottish independence, please!

So how does this work there? Do they hold a vote and the top 5 advance to the next round, followed by another vote, trimming the herd, and just repeat until you're down to 1? Is there a threshold by which, if one candidate receives over 50% of the votes, they're automatically ceded the win and no further votes are needed, or does this process have to continue until you're down to a 2 horse race?

Only the mother conservative MPs get to vote so a Candidate nominates themselves they have to have a certain level of support. Then the conservative MPs hold a series of votes and those with the least votes are eliminated. So for example in the first round I think they had to get 10 votes minimum to remain in contention. So they have a few of these votes each time eliminating more candidates or the candidates themselves chose to withdraw. They eventually whittle this down to 2 candidates and then all members of the Conservative party vote on it. So basically about 100k torries get to choose our next PM....
Despite the rhetoric, MP's do not get a say if the new PM decides to take us out of the EU with no deal.
