I looked at Ron Paul. Saw the video when he was trying to pump up the very young crowd by “raising the roof” after a primary loss and rolled my eyes. But to be fair I then really looked into what he was saying and justifying those positions. Decided he was a loon with a few good ideas, some really bad ones but had zero influence to enact any of them.

Beto "I eat magic dirt". Is that who you think will beat Trump?

trump isn't going to run for a 2nd term. He's a sick old man and wants to take it easy in his declining years and enjoy his covfefe.

I was young at the time, he was the only candidate I every fully supported. That said, I've learned a lot since then and watched his debates again... He was a little out there for sure.

But the point still stands that the GOP went out of their way to keep him at bay.

And to be fair, Romney was no better.

They poured in insane money from not just Texas, and he had the might of most media behind him. Hardly an accurate measure.

At the current rate Trump is going, no democrat was going to beat him anyways. He's delivered on every promise he can and we're all aware that he would have delivered even more if democrats and RINOs hadn't stood in his way. Their attempts to stop him (even over things obama did when he was president) have shown the true intentions and brought more support for Trump.

Never thought I'd see the day that democrats hated a president for doing for the black community what no other president has done. I also figured they would appreciate the fact that black unemployment is at all time lows and that criminal justice has been reformed. Instead they hate him even more and say that all happened because of the last president.

I say this without cruelty. I find that the most naive liberals I know are those who don’t work in a relevant field to key policy areas (gov, Ed, housing, etc) or politics. I do, and have studied all of those and worked around it. It’s extremeiy eye opening and one sees past the media and politician lies on both sides.

However, on a regular basis otherwise smart people who don’t have any work exp or expertise in these fields say the most basic, mainstream, establishment talking points and think they know everything.

I don’t do that to entertainers, lawyers, or accountants, but they do to me all the time. Everyone’s an expert.

As soon as that video of him fondling all those children goes mainstream, and it will eventually if he runs for Pres, hes finished.
He might run but he wont win

those photos have been around for years. conservative media has showed them democrat media probably will not.
if they do, its because they have decided to discard Biden.

the dem primary is going to be a race to the left I'm-more-woke-than-you I-can-give-away-more than you
whomever wins will look like an extremist (and probably will be).
Trump will run on four years of peace / prosperity vs the loony left and hopefully will win easy.

Exactly. It won't be a 49 state runaway like Reagan in 1984, but he should take the next election by a bigger margin than 2016...........IF he keeps doing what he's doing. Then I hope we can find another guy as ballsy as Trump to run in 2024.

It should be.

Why not?
It "should" have been a victory lap for "her". Instead a major party, and the msm, conspired to select a candidate despite what primaries showed. The 2016 election cycle will be studied in political science classes for decades imo.

I agree. What I’m saying is that it probably won’t, because very few people including poli sci professors are having that convo. I’m around those types of people. It’s been covered up and shoved under the rug. Some of my friends and colleagues talk about this stuff, but the majority either are brainwashed or know it’s dangerous talk in our field.

Trump may not even run in 2020. By then his brain rot, may have gotten so strong that he will be wandering around drooling and gibbering into his cell phone with a dead battery.

Actually, it might be that the best bet for conservatives is to, right now, push to impeach him before the whole conservative movement goes down in flames of loyalty to a babbling idiot. Try and finish out his term with Pence and then in 2020 find someone who embraces the finer conservative values with a stable mentality rather than the tortured and fractured mind they have all pinned their hopes on in Trump.

The left has gotten so crazy in the last few years that I’m debating voting right wing this next election, for the first time ever in my adult life. For me that’s a huge shift.

I relate actually to Reagan’s quote about how he didn’t leave the left, the left left him. I’m still a bush era liberal: anti war, pro environment, pro justice, pro lgbt rights, kinda hippyish, etc.

But, the radical open borders, hyper identity politics and sjws, post modernism, etc, is getting too much for me.
a reply to: ElGoobero

You're not alone. Many who have been voting democrat their entire life have been pushed away recently because the hard left shift. Just look at Jim Webb, a Reagan era democrat. He actually had a good message and could've reached to both sides of America but he was ousted after the first DNC debate because he didn't say black lives mattered over all lives. Look at the Clinton's from the 90's. They strengthened border security and increased law enforcement for high crime neighborhoods in the ghetto. If they still had those ideologies, they would be considered right wing Republicans by today's democrats.

Joe Biden couldn't win an election against a shrew. He's so boring except when he's cringy levels of creepy, and that's the worst kind of not boring as it's just plain repulsive. I'm not sure he could even beat Hillary, and I despise Hillary. The fact they are even considering him demonstrates they've got nothing to offer as a candidate.

The only way a democrat could win at this point would be to run on pretty much the same basic platform Trump runs on. They'll never do that. Hard core radical left wingers think the country is in worse shape than it was under obama, but everyone else sees the good Trump does and has done, or at least understand it's better than four more years of obama.

Trump gains support when the left loses their sh!t. Not as many people are won over his promises kept as you think because a lot of people didn't support what he promised. A large part of the election will be over popularity. Those that love him will not change those that hate him will not change and those in the middle will choose based on an assortment of reasons.

Which group is destroying my freedoms more is what I ask and I will vote against them. At the moment the left is trying to destroy the second amendment and they support those who are trying to destroy the first by remaining quite when groups like antifa resort to violence and labeling everyone a Nazi that doesn't conform to their will. So even though I can't stand Trump I will not vote for any on the left who through action or inaction are destroying the constitution. As has been proven time and again once the govt overreaches it is near impossible to reign them back like with the patriot act which both sides quietly keep passing on.

I really wish there was a good third party out there.

Well exactly, the few candidates that aren’t insane and seem like real people are attacked by the establishment: Tulsi and Bernie to a lesser extent.

Also, yes, anybody that doesn’t join in the hysteria is seen as suspicious, even if just silent, not even showing right wing support. I ran into the problems if someone questions identity politics, being told by people who know me “you sound like those racists” etc.

As a white male, despite people knowing I work on justice issues and am well informed, I still get flak, put downs, and even discriminatory comments based on my identity. Not everyone does, but enough do I began to notice it.

So yes, the problem is that there is little safe space for internal critique, constructive feedback, or disagreement right now. They aren’t listening to critique, with a few exceptions. Those that do listen though are usually already independent liberals and lefties, and that group is attacked too. Just look at Bernie and tulsi.

Not only that, but look what they say about black people who support Trump or Republican ideas. We might get bashed for being white, but I can only imagine how it feels to be a black Republican and called a sellout, Uncle Tom, uneducated negro, slave prop, etc. They've become repulsive in their demeanor, while at the same time looking at you and calling you the racist, sexist, homophobe, etc.

To be the most absolute fair, I would zero influence in DC sitting in the big chair. But I could still get things done very effectively. Now making it more than six months before being assassinated is a different story.

But I could indeed get things done with or without the support of Congress. All because I have read and understand the Constitution and zero problems about actually enforcing the Constitution to achieve goals at hand.

And if by some miracle I survived the first term, I would put the fear of God in them by holding the second term in reserve as failsafe to counter the critters missed. But I suspect there would be handful of new amendments centering on reducing presidential powers in the interim.

I would say CSPAN’s rating would be through the roof on the day after the inauguration when I would walk into a called joint session carrying two reams of paper and explaining that they are for the resignations of those that cannot follow the Constitution. Because after today the death penalty is in full effect and I am the firing squad. And prove it by unholstering to prove I am carrying. An start the session with the Speaker reading the Constitution in full, with a suggestion they come up and get some paper if they skip the preamble.

They got Beto. And the GOP is praying to God they don't put him on the ticket.

And Beto has big money and is already out campaigning like a rock star, media darling.

And if trump continues to slump in the polls, he won't run.

www.realclearpolitics.com...

And trump isn't fairing well even on Fox.

www.foxnews.com...

Trump never polls well in the polls, yet he still draws insanely huge crowds and still wins. Beto won't win, one of the biggest reasons being that he thinks the border wall should be torn down. How many Americans do you think really support that?

Beto is an empty suit. For me he seems like a manufactured fake candidate. Just because he’s outgoing, skates, and was in a band doesn’t make him a good candidate. Yes, the media is loving him up. But, that’s because he serves a purpose. He didn’t earn that independently. To top it off, the whole cynical move to market him as “Beto” is distasteful.

Trump not running is the dEms ONLY chance in 2020. No matter who they run, it’ll be a joke compared to Trump and he’ll win by the biggest margin in history.

But I’m sorry to tell you, you’re 100% wrong. The kook aid you drank is tainted, the propaganda you’re swallowing from your lefty echo-tank is false.

President Trump won’t run for re-election in 2024 because his two term limit will be reached.
But he will support a successor so the dims still don’t have a chance until at least 2028.

So funny to see numbskulls clinging to false hopes
