Should we have reparations to black folk?

Reparations will not happen in the next 10 years because it will take billions and that long to figure out who gets it and how much. $1000 would probably be the max. Is it worth that much trouble for $1000

Imagine where this country would be if blacks hadn't been brought here and enslaved. I think gaining freedom is worth more than any amount of money they can receive. 

Freedom is a civil right and enslavement of black folk showed the hypocrisy this country was founded on. No idea where you're trying to go with these statements, but it sounds like you're trying to say slavery was a positive....

It is a positive for the peoples ancestors who live today. Other option, on the outside looking in like the caravans trying to get here now.

I didn't see where it said US only. Even if it did, the concept still applies to more than just US victims. If reparations are due to the descendants of slavery then every descendant of slavery should get paid by those whom enslaved them regardless of what country it happened in. Since nearly everyone in this country is descendant of European or African ancestors I think that is a qualifying condition.

If reparations are ever enacted, only families which held slaves should pay them, like Kamala Harris's family. My family has been hear since the 1600s, they're from the north and did not own slaves. Only 20-30 percent of southern families owned slaves. Imo, the inequalities of today are based on IQ not what happened in the past. Jews have the highest IQ, then Asians, then whites, then Latinos, then Islamists, then blacks. Of course there are exceptions but the majority of blacks have the lowest IQs in comparoson to the majority of any other group. Blacks also lead statistics in violent crimes against other races. If you don't believe these facts Google them and learn for yourself.

I believe Islamists are to blame for the African slave trade. They controlled the African slave trade in the past and still run it today. If you don't believe this fact Google it and learn for yourself.

The most disparaged groups in America today are white Judeo-Christian males. Every white person I know @ 40 years old has been sucker punched by a black stranger at some point in their life. The Leftist propagandist politicans & media have the population brainwashed into believing that all white Judeo-Christian males are evil, which is not true. Without white Judeo-Christian males the civilized world will fall apart. Its Judeo-Christian values which gave women the right to vote, freed slaves, gave blacks the right to vote & created the greatest country on earth based on individual rights to liberty, which includes privacy/property & gun rights, as well as, limited government.

Without Judeo-Christian values the constitution would not exist & yes the United States is the best country in the world because of our constitution. Its getting about time we reinstate it. If it were not the best country in the world people from other countries would not come here or try to emulate us.

the only reason people go to the US is because the US is currently bombing everywhere else hahah !

What cracks me up about slavery is if it were to suddenly become legal in any sense people of all colors would stand in line to own a few ... Hypocritical isn't it ?

All they need do is supply the date and time, and the name of the owner. All slave owners should compensate their slaves!

I will never apologize for anything my ANCESTORS who are DEAD did. Never. The reason being, is because I did not partake in anything so evil nor do I condone it. I’ll disavow and disapprove all day long for things I didn’t do because they don’t align with my view or ideals or are plain evil. Until you prove that I did something wrong I say no.

Not saying that white Europeans didn't treat the native Americans poorly, however, you realize that many native tribes were at war WELL before even the Spanish came. The Arapaho nearly wiped the entire Comanche population from the planet. It was the Spanish horse that gave the Comanche a serious advantage over most tribes and they took full advantage and wiped many tribes themselves, enslaving the women and children of the tribes they destroyed.

Regarding slavery of Africans. Horrible period in our history for sure, but it was Africans themselves who enslaved their own people and sold them to Western slave owners.

This same Continent is still, to this day enslave their own people.

Short answer to a loaded question? No.

Long answer, get ready for the long list of other groups who feel they should be added to that list and one nasty can of worms. Who will give the reparations? What qualifies one to receive? What happens post reparations?

Ask anybody if they feel they deserve something, they all answer Hell Yeah! That doesn't mean they should get free handouts does it? Does the UK owe America reparations for indentured servitude? This could go on forever. And eye for an eye leaves the world blind yada yada.

The only thing unique about the history of slavery in the US is that the US was the only country that fought an actual war to end it. Every other country, every one, no matter what race peoples it has a history of slavery and I don't mean some of them just being slaves either, some still ongoing.

Yea... my ancestors were so dirt poor they couldn't buy potatoes and had to come to America and submit to indentured servitude to have a hope of one day their children's children will have a better life... so obviously they were full supporters of slavery (sarcasm) because keeping other people down was obviously more important than feeding their families (more sarcasm).


Short and to the point, No they do not deserve to be paid by the govt for the pain their ancestors suffered.


I have read a few cases where people were essentially slaves till recent times, THOSES people should be considered for some sort of govt payout.


Just because you have a darker tan than me does not entitle you to money because some ancestor of yours might have been abused... cause how do you prove your ancestor was a slave anyways... remember pocahantus used family stories to advance herself as a native American, how many people would break out stories as proof.

I think it would be fine if it was even possible. How would you distinguish who would receive these reparations? I mean a blanket payout to everyone, to just anyone just doesn't make sense not to mention would be fairly insulting to legitimate recipients if you take a second to consider some issues. Namely the issue of the fact that just because you are of this ethnicity and in America doesn't mean your ancestors where brought here against there will under the oppressive slavery trade. Many natives of Africa where capturing neighboring tribes and forcing there captives to be sold into slavery at a massive profit, descendents of these people could have easily migrated to the Americas by now and would obviously not be warranted any reparations. There where many that during the times of slaves that inevitably became slave masters themselves helping there fellows keep in line with the heaviest of hands. How would you distinguish who is deserving? I would say that obviously some are deserving but how could one possibly make this assessment?

And playing off that post and reply .... here's where the entanglement angle comes in:

What would my husband and I do? Does my white blood cancel out his Native American-ness? Do I pay him so we cancel out there?

And, then you have those of us who have entire segments of our heritage that can't be verified.

My paternal grandfather was what was called a bastard in those days. We legit have absolutely no idea what his ancestry is on his paternal side.
