High School boy forfeits wrestling match because of his Christian beliefs

She made it to the final 4 wrestlers ! My guess he was nervous about possibly failing or struggling to win ! My thought ! Women don’t belong fighting men though !

Not sure what angle you are taking here, but...sure the rest of the guys didn't have a problem wrestling her....especially the ones that were wanting to place first in state!

But sure you were a arm chair warrior back then as I was taking state at least 10 times in Oregon

As a wrestling and jits guy, your statement about it not being a sport is a joke. It's a gd battle. One on one fight with lethal moves.

Most pro fighters spend 6-7 days a week training.

They aren't running around playing with balls.

I would have wrestled her. I started when I was 5.

However those are completely different scenarios

On wrestling you get to touch a lot of the other person parts, including sometimes, without meaning, private parts

It becomes a mess if you are unable to handle touching up other person, in this case a girl

I am a girl and i practiced kempo for some years when i was a teen

We were in mixed gender classes so we got to fight boys, sometimes they would go weak in fear of hitting us "in the wrong spots" and it would cause them to lose.

I could see that moment, sometimes a guy was winning but accidentally touched my breast or butt or whatever, and he would just lose it all at that exact moment. And then he would lose the fight, not because of lack of energy or technique but because he had touched my breast and i could see in his eyes he was ashamed of it and was unable to recover, his mind was already out of place due to that small moment

I can completely see why this guy gave up right from the beginning, possibly he already went through this before and as some people pointed out here, this is a lose-lose situation

At 14, these youngsters (see, I am old) really don't have the mental, emotional maturity for this situation. They shouldn't have to make these decisions. The adults should be making these types of decisions. Coaches, parents? I know the laws allow and require opportunities in sports to be equal - but, perfect example of a big fail.

Pity the poor kids being put in these ridiculous situations. Shame on these adults.

I really don’t see what the big deal is since the two wrestlers are quoted as respecting each other’s decisions if they don’t quite understand each other, and the young guy took the loss with no demands.

Then if you are fighting a boy and he happens to touch you in your breast due to how the sport works and he feels you and makes eye contact and he retracts and loses all his mind all over what just happened then the match is completely gone to waste

He probably did. However, the entire thing about religion and stuff between boys and girls is the entire problem. It has to change, and this has nothing to do with weights but to beliefs. dumb as they may be, girls and boy should not be afraid like this, it is ridiculous

I was trained along with boys and we eventually all learned to respect beyond bodies, but through fierce eyes and attitude and how smart and fast and strong you are, all equal in the eyes of strength in the end

Maybe lame boy shouldnt join a sport that May put him in a situation like this instead of running.

No, they should keep gender segregation in sports but create a specific neutral third gender sport all on its own. That way competitors KNOW what they are signing up for and competing against.
