Illinois has always had a liberal Democrat-led state legislature. For the past few years, Republican governor Bruce Rauner had been keeping the Democrats from being too aggressive with their socialist agenda, and tax/fee hikes.

Even so, roughly 2,500 individuals and families moved out of Illinois every month during that time period.

In November 2018, Illinois citizens decided that they wanted to pay more taxes and fees. So they elected Democrat J.B. Pritzker to replace Bruce Rauner, because Pritzker promised to raise taxes enough to "fix things" that are wrong with Illinois.

Today, he unveiled a huge $3.4 Billion Dollar Tax Increase. It will be EASILY approved and put into effect by the like-minded state legislature.

Story: www.chicagotribune.com...

Apparently, Gov Pritzker hasn't been told that NY Governor Cuomo declared last month that "taxing the rich" is committing Financial Suicide. Higher Income individuals can afford to leave, and easily do so, if the financial environment becomes too hostile.

As the Chicago Tribune article says, the exodus of upper-income people and businesses from the state is about to accelerate. Guess what that will precipitate? Another increase in taxes and/or fees. I wonder how high they will have to go before the citizens of Illinois regret voting for J.B. Pritzker?

This would really hit hard. 8 percent on over 250k. On top of the already high property taxes that are not as deductible because of losing the SALT deductions.

I would love to get the fk out but tied due to jobs and kids.

Right. When you add sales tax, property tax, state tax, and federal tax, it's about 45% of your gross income being taken away by a government entity.

My wife and I are considering moving to Michigan, since we were both raised there. Cost of living is much less.

People here in Illinois are getting what they voted for. Americans in general are, because the people who run our country were elected by "We The People".

As the wealthy and sensible people move out, the next in line for power and wealth are the strongly embedded gangs and cartels that have a foothold in Chicago. Once they have uncontested power things will become even worse.

Yeah, I want to move south. Carolinas, Georgia, Tenn.

Chicago is booming but the dems are determined to choke it off. City would be even better with out the lib anchor around our necks.

Of course Pritzker being a inheritance billionaire doesnt really help him understand how high taxes affects us who gotta work for a living.

Sadly our Oregon, seems to be on a one way ticket to foolishness ourselves.
We are officially WORSE than California with 501 and the rest of the absurd bills being brought up by apparent children.

You're right. Hard to criticize another state when the one you live in is saying, "Hold my beer" to the tax hikes.

Eventually you will be taxed so much that taking a job in another state with a 30% salary reduction will feel like a raise. I get the feeling you are already almost there, I wish you luck there man, I'll be inheriting property in Chicago in the next 10 or so years, and the thought of the taxes I'll pay on it is just downright frightening.

Michigan new dim governor so we get a $.45 gas tax increase so it will be the highest in the nation to go with the highest vehicle insurance in the country. Companies are already announcing they will be leaving soon. Trucking companies are buying property at the Indiana border to move operations.

Local,STATE issues.

Besides the gas tax, property tax, and lotteries all fund those.

But thank you for showing us the truth.

MAKE SOMEONE ELSE shell out for it.

Add the state of Michigan to that list. Yet another gas tax for us so the elected moron can "fix the Damn roads."

I wonder if the folks who voted her in realized that would include a substantial tax hike.

I want to know what they're gonna tax when fossil fuels get banned.

Gas comes from oil. Tax's come from something.

And the new progressive tax falls doesn't even fix the budget. Not by a long shot!
