Yeah, I don't get it either. Society in general is very ill, getting worse and with no cure in sight. Sadly the world gets darker everyday it seems.

I don’t understand how you can make this statement and choose to have that avatar.
Sick indeed.

Sorry that your offended. It's from Pink Floyd's The Wall and is symbolic of our educational system becoming nothing more than a processing plant void of producing individuality. Hence the faceless school character spewing the ground up garbage taught in our schools.

You know, I was looking at some stats and it seems that mass-shootings have ramped up considerably after the mid-1980's.

Do you think violent video games have anything to do with it ? Not saying they do... but sometimes I wonder how they as well as violent movies have subconsciously effected society.

One of my younger daughters has been playing Grand Theft Auto 5 for a few years now, she’s hooked on it, still.
It’s been good for her driving skills, she’s 7 now and is a better driver than her older siblings.
She’s a good shot with my handguns too, she learnt the basics of shooting off the game as well.
She’s a bit more streetwise and savvy compared to the rest of the kids.
I think the ‘violent’ video game has been good for her.

What does her mother think?
Well she’s not a weak, gutless, pathetic piece of sh’it liberal either so she thinks it’s just fine.

There will be no press conferences in the Empire case as our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of #AuroraShooting. At this hour, individuals are still talking to detectives.

Sounds like he got really pissed for some reason. I wonder if he is a disgruntled employee or if this is a crime of passion. I guess we will know what happened tomorrow when it gets released.

It's been a while since we've had someone truly go postal..

There is a saying I haven't heard in quite sometime, "going Postal". For the most part, a lot of the younger generations, have no idea what that even means.

I have a 24 year old sitting by me here and i just said to him "what does it mean if I say the man went postal?"

His reply? "Does it mean he's going to the post office or something? "

Also according to witnesses reported on Fox News the shooter was a "coworker" so possibly a disgruntled employee?

I'll go postal... why has there been a shooting in Illinois? Pretty sure they have the 2nd or 3rd strictest gun regulations in the country....

So... why did this happen again? I mean even though it's a "suburban of chicago" being over 45 miles away... Is this the same as chicago gun violence?

Valve assembly plant.

OMFG

I used to work there! As soon as I saw Aurora, Il I thought of Henry Pratt, or Henry P. Ratt as many refer to it.

I can believe this is happening.

You must have known the shooter then. Says he worked there for over 15 years.

What was he like? Anything else you can tell us about the shooter??

His avatar is pretty disturbing.

He was there at the same time I was, but honestly I don't recall the name. I would have to see a picture of him. As the reports say, the place is huge. The assemblers worked all over the plant and there was a lot more of them fifteen years ago. I was in engineering. We did go out on the shop floor sometimes to take a look at things but mostly our job was done in the office.

As for violence in general, Aurora has a bad gang problem. That has little bearing on this incident unless the shooter had a banger mentality. If he was just stressed out from getting fired/laid off and lost it, well, that can happen anywhere. Illinois does have some of the toughest gun laws in the country and you can see how well they work. Of course there will be a new spate of gun laws and lots of promises made about safety while they disarm more legal gun owners instead of criminals.

It might also be worthy of noting the perpetrator was a convicted felon for stabbing a woman several years earlier in a fit of rage. He was therefore not legally allowed to own or possess a firearm.

The shooter was a convicted felon from Mississippi and also had been arrested in Illinois for domestic violence.

Yet the state gave him a firearms owners card.

Law enforcement in Illinois screwed up big time. Or never tried to recover the handgun when they found out about him owning it hoping he would shot someone.

I saw a picture of the guy and I do not recognize him. Like I said earlier, the plant is huge and there were a lot of people there when I was there. Of course, the company didn't always act in the best interests of its employees. I remember once during some asbestos removal work they turned off all the restroom water in the entire facility except for one on the shop floor on the other side of the plant. I am handicapped so walking there was not an option. I had to go out to my car, drive a quarter of a mile to the other end of the plant, and enter there to use the restroom. Not exactly a worker friendly environment if you ask me.
