We'll hear "This is a strike fully supported by those furloughed" and "national security we are all doomed if this doesn't get funded" and so on. Election coming - campaign promise must be met, even if poorly thought out and scarcely supported, at least by anyone with a brain.

Because the Dems are being so stubborn and will not compromise one bit, this is a national emergency.
That's absolute baloney. So basically compromise means they MUST agree to wall funding, or it won't pass. Even though there was a vote of 100-0 on a bill to fund the government - wasn't good enough for Trump. This is SOLELY on him. So compromise apparently now means strong arming to get what you want.
If they cave, what happens next? How many more threats of shutdown if Trump doesn't get what he wants? People just don't understand his toddler mentality, I guess. If he has an angle, no matter how poorly planned, no matter who it hurts, if in the end, it makes him look good, he'll do it.
you are deluded!

Can we at least agree there are more pressing issues facing our nation than a wall? This is the most important thing we face as a country?

The Democrats are not saying NO because of funding, or morals, or ethics or what ever.. they are saying no because if they give President Trump this political victory - then come 2020 he is all the more stronger.
The Democrats don't care about America's security - they care more about being elected in 2020.

if this is true it proves he only wants a symbolic wall for his base.
there's not going to be a continuous wall... never was. he promised too much, and now he wants money to appease his base. that's ludicrous.
Not quite,
Trump ran the election with the priority promise '' we will build a wall ''
The people voted him in on his promise.
$5 Billion is a drop in the bucket compared to spending costs on a range of other items.

No calling a wall immoral and anyone who wants one immoral, while voting for a fence in the past and having a wall around your house is ludicrous.
Trump wants a wall, that is obvious. You may hate the wall, but there is no doubt he wants it.
The dems on the other hand are pretending to not want a wall because its immoral, when we all know that is a lie. This shows they either 1. dont want border security, or 2. are willing to sacrafice it and hurt the people by having a shutdown just to spite trump.
That is ludicrous.
