There are many private land owners who own land on both sides of the border. They do not want a wall in the middle of their property. There are many cases still in court where these landowners are suing the Federal government to keep the fences/walls from being built. The cases have been in the system since Clinton tried to build a wall. A wall across the entire border is not feasible or legally able to be built. The Democrats learned this lesson years ago. These same homeowners will leave Trump where they left Clinton, tied up in court forever, and the wall will not be built regardless if it gets funded or not.

It does not matter. The land that has not already been purchased for the fence will be seized if a National Emergency is declared in that area, and the landowner paid appropriately.

We'll hear "This is a strike fully supported by those furloughed" and "national security we are all doomed if this doesn't get funded" and so on. Election coming - campaign promise must be met, even if poorly thought out and scarcely supported, at least by anyone with a brain.

Because the Dems are being so stubborn and will not compromise one bit, this is a national emergency.
That's absolute baloney. So basically compromise means they MUST agree to wall funding, or it won't pass. Even though there was a vote of 100-0 on a bill to fund the government - wasn't good enough for Trump. This is SOLELY on him. So compromise apparently now means strong arming to get what you want.
If they cave, what happens next? How many more threats of shutdown if Trump doesn't get what he wants? People just don't understand his toddler mentality, I guess. If he has an angle, no matter how poorly planned, no matter who it hurts, if in the end, it makes him look good, he'll do it.

Well, that was a pretty serious 'nothingburger' as the republican kids like to say. I wonder what the value was of the airtime that was used to make the same speech he made...what...yesterday?
I kinda hope that Trump's speech was a prologue for something dramatic, because if it wasn't...then it was just lame. Like in a sorryful, pathetic way.

Do you know how most illegal immigrants come to the USA? They fly in, nimrod. They fly in on legal visas and then they stay when those visas expire. And it's not at record levels. At all. Illegal immigration on the Southern border is not at record levels either. There is no crisis at the border. There's just a desperate bloviating liar in the Oval Office who can't get his border wall (have you even looked at the practicalities of it in places???) and who is bewailing that fact as he spouts yet more lies.
