Ultimately, whether Tempest / Global Combat Air Programme goes ahead is a political decision. This is the case anywhere.
If the UK drops the project, it'll probably attempt to join the French/German affair, but no guarantee the French will like that, or whether UK
industry would benefit. Doubtful, I would say, given the difficulty of working with the French.
Which why I think the programme will persist and £ will be found. The future of sovereign capability is at stake, alongside the (often understated)
industrial and technological benefits.
