Could be. Or they are a little worried about the industrial base.

I knew what you meant. No worries.

I wonder how much the Eurofighter was over budget and if that might not be the better comparison...

Ultimately, whether Tempest / Global Combat Air Programme goes ahead is a political decision. This is the case anywhere.

If the UK drops the project, it'll probably attempt to join the French/German affair, but no guarantee the French will like that, or whether UK industry would benefit. Doubtful, I would say, given the difficulty of working with the French.

Which why I think the programme will persist and £ will be found. The future of sovereign capability is at stake, alongside the (often understated) industrial and technological benefits.

I very much doubt The UK and in particular BAE will want to deal with the French again after the Taranis project..

The contenders for the F/A-XX have been announced. Totally shocking. Not.

Lockheed.
Boeing.
Northrop.

Boeing's program management is so fscked up, i doubt they'll get it. This will be a Lockheed vs NorthGrum run. I bet NG gets it since they've dropped from the USAF NGAD.

Hope not. The MD execs would probably be in their 70s now. It's been 26 years since MD was consumed.
