Charles Schultz was a trailblazer. Too bad he's not here to tell us what his editorial purpose was. Perhaps it was a comment on the "separate but equal" justfication of racial segregation.
Obviously Schultz was trying to make a point about racism himself. That makes some people uncomfortable -- people who are too stupid or uneducated to interpret the intention of artists and writers.
