Why shouldn't I? She is legal now. It's easy to do because the system is broken.

It still needs to survive the courts. I think it's a needed fix though, but prefer Congress do it.

No, he was a US citizen. He had never exerted or claimed French citizenship even.

Thats a unique case that isn't helpful for part of the discussion
Dual citizenships (of which you said) confuses me...born in France and lives in the US.

I would tell France to stuff it also and give up my Dual tbh

All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof

If being born in the US automatically made you subject to the jurisdiction why include the word and?

In your scenario how can you be born in the US and NOT subject to the jurisdiction thereof?

Well, we can speculate that being born in the US, but at some embassy...etc

Sort of like how McCain was born in what, Panama but on a base so he was American...

This is beyond presidential power and Trump is an idiot if he believes he can change it without congress.

To exempt visiting dignitaries and diplomats' families, who are subject to the governments they represent or whose industry they're working to develop or maintain, while they are living here.

Common sense legislation that should
have been implemented 25 years ago. At Least.
It was Harry Reeds goody back then.

I wonder if most citizens have any awareness
of the baby flights that occur.
I.E. fly in last minute from Asia,Yemen,Somalia,Eastern Europe,
wherever, etc. Have the child born on U.S. Territory,
and then leave with the child. Now, the child has U.S. Passport Citizen
access after they have been trained as a spy for 18 years.

Our colleges, companies, and government has been infiltrated
for Decades using this method. Sack of suds for leadership for over 25 years.
Total sellout Politicians. SAAVY?
S&F Great Thread!

Cheers also

So thing is, Its fine to try and ratify an amendment..thats the process.
You cannot however by executive order nullify part of the constitution...thats not how it works.

My opinion on it I haven't stated. I am simply stating that this is not a legal thing. Trump cannot make an executive order to remove the 14th amendment in the same way he couldn't make an executive order to remove the 2nd or 1st amendment...its a long process that requires a majority of all branches of government, then 2/3rds of the states to pass

Except when Obama did it by Executive Order.

I'm a trump support, this is how I see it going down. He will sign it, 9th circuit will shoot it down, he will go on fox saying another liberal court shot it down. We need republicans, rar rar vote republican. republicans get pissed and vote in droves, republicans win. Trump accomplishes the mission. Democrats are left going wtf just happened, trump wins again....

Cheers,

Camain

Obviously there are other threads on this.

for my 2 cents though,
If you are born in the US, then other countries don't have jurisdiction over you...the US does.

If a couple from China comes over here and has a kid, China cannot demand that the child is a chinese citizen...as it was born outside of China, and therefore outside of their jurisdiction.

There is no clause, there is only neoconservative xenophobia and sadness

in 1898 (in United States v. Wong Kim Ark) that the Supreme Court expanded a constitutional mandate, holding that the children of legal, permanent residents were automatically citizens. While the decision could be (and is often) read more broadly, the court has never held that the clause confers automatic citizenship on the children of temporary visitors, much less of illegal residents.

Nobody is talking about repealing the 14th Amendment, or taking away anyone's citizenship well except for the Democrats trying to scare you.

no changes are to be made to the 14th amendment though. he isnt taking away current citizens papers. he is deeming those illegals coming to try and get in as enemies of the state and a threat to our society with this decision.

The US grants citizenship to qualifying children born outside the US.

A lot of nations grant citizenship to children born to their citizens, no matter where they are born.
