his was not an artificial famine as the traditional Irish nationalist interpretation has long maintained - not at any rate at the start. The original gross deficiency of food was real. In 1846 and successive years blight destroyed the crop that had previously provided approximately 60 per cent of the nation's food needs. The food gap created by the loss of the potato in the late 1840s was so enormous that it could not have been filled, even if all the Irish grain exported in those years had been retained in the country. In fact, far more grain entered Ireland from abroad in the late 1840s than was exported-probably almost three times as much grain and meal came in as went out.
I doubt any other nation on earth has as much blood on it's hands as the British. They even outdone Hitler and Stalin combined ffs.

Agreed, and whoever decided to make this all about the IRA. As usual, they bring only one position: vilifying Republicans while simultaneously ignoring the fact that the Brits committed unspeakable atrocities against civilians men women and children
I think history will judge the Citizens of Ireland kindly. Especially as more information comes to light, highlighting the British crown's authoritarian brutality. The exact same bullsnip American colonists faced in the new world under King George's repressive rule
Cheers to you And to freedom/self determination and Republicanism

Okay, so ats is taken over now by white supremacists. Gotcha.
What on earth have white supremacists got to do with any of this?
That is a stretch for even the most ardent pro-Islamic extremist apologist?
Please try and explain that.
Agreed, and whoever decided to make this all about the IRA.

What's wrong with the IRA? Can't blame Republicans (even socialist Republicans) from resisting oppressive foreign government rule. I'd personally never tolerate foreign soldiers on US soil let alone rule by their non-American government. That, to me at least, is a natural and expected human reaction to oppression.
I'll proudly say I supported the IRA against Britain for as long as I can remember. Then again, us Republicans/Libertarians stick together. We stick together far better than those leftist authoritarians.
Yes, their methods were undesirable. But so were the actions of the British government. And as they say, when you're fighting tyrannical monsters and oppressive authoritarians things tend get a bit messy. Too much of a gray area, considering every human has the god-given sovereign unalienable right to live free from tyranny and oppression.
Of course, we could always look at Bloody Sunday and how many innocent and patriotic Irish citizens were beaten, raped and murdered. Shame on them.
