You know what?

You get young people and alcohol together and stuff happens. You act like only one person in this equation drinks. Only the woman drinks and can't control herself as a result. Did you ever stop to think that at a party, everyone consumes alcohol, and no one there is likely in very good control of themselves?

That doesn't absolve anyone of bad behavior, but if we are going to let the woman off the hook because she was too drunk to know better, you can't then turn around expect a drunk man to be able to always be in control of his actions perfectly as though 100% sober.

What is the legal blood alcohol limit for driving? What do you want to bet that both parties in many of these situations are well beyond it, and if we think they're too compromised to drive responsibly why on earth are you acting like both of them are batting 1,000 in the sensible decision making department too?

It does, but at some point, people have to take some responsibility for themselves, even when they have a vagina (or merely identify as female).

In fact, I do. However I do believe people are innocent until proven guilty.

These acts of sexual assault and sexual harassment are widespread throughout our society. I don't know a women that hasn't endured this type of entitled behavior from men. I was assaulted by 'a friend' in high school, harassed by a boss in my first full-time job - told I'd lose my job if I didn't 'give it up'.

First of all I never said that I think all women who claim sexual assault should be believed.

And I don't think that Senate Confirmation Hearings are the proper place for 'staging a trail'.

That said, this does concern the character of the nominee and should be properly investigated, by whom, I don't know, before any vote is taken.

There are more serious, and easily provable character defects in play with this nominee which seem to have been forgotten and the dems have planned into corporate hands by releasing the claim(s).

The nominees perjury before the senate, repeated perjury, provable perjury by his own documents, has fallen by the wayside. Do you really want a Supreme Court justice that is a flagrant perjurer?

While I tend to socialist ideals, the democrats are in this case acting on behalf of their Corporate Masters just as republicans do.

This poor women wanted to remain anonymous, she contacted her Senator telling her of her experience of this judges character, the Senator either ignored her wishes or manipulated her into going public. If the democrates truly wanted to see this nominee refused, it would have been wiser to stick to the less sensational and more important character fault - that of lying.

It looks to me like the modus operandi by the Republicans to slut shame Dr. Ford.

All but calling her a drunken bimbo that deserved it.

What a garbage article.

First is brings up whelan saying it was that other guy, which was bad. Thats not slut shaming at all.

Then it brings up alex jones and others posting ford yearbook showing they liked to party with guys.

Why is that slut shaming, but the constant labeling of kavanughs yearbooks or friends book that doesnt even mention his name but smears him as a drunk womanizer is ok?

We know that many people, including the author of that article, view any questions of this accusers story as attacking a victim.

Thats the new world; if you are accused, you are guilty. If you defend yourself or question the accusation, that is more proof of your guilt.

Meanwhile, we have many prominent democrats saying they know kavanaugh is guilty, or even if he isnt, he should resign.

I submit that the real truth lies in the middle with the onus of responsibility for what happens resting on both parties. If she's too drunk to control her body entirely and not in trusted circumstances, she has some responsibility for having put herself in those circumstances. And even a normally controlled man might have trouble when drunk and tempted with a passed out chick. It's a recipe for disaster, and young people shouldn't put themselves in those situations in the first place.

But you can't act like all the guilt rests on one or the other when both made a series of choices that set the table for the disaster to happen.
