I beg to differ in opinion. As you, I have family in the military. Discounts are meaningless and local parades are the same. Too many in America have become disenfranchised with the idea of citizens who serve to defend us. We need a National celebration parade for those who are serving. They are going unnoticed or even getting 'boo'ed' by many who have nothing to reflect upon except 'history'.

I realize that Trump will get an ego boost by showing how BIG our military is. This is not just for his benefit though. It is a stepping stone of pride for those currently serving and those who may serve in the future!

I am so tired of those who are bashing those in the military, who are actually the ones who will be defending us all and ALL of our American values. A battle does not have to ensue nor be waged...these servants of our nation have actually a higher status than our so-called representatives in government!

A parade is a chore, another seemingless task for our military to perform...but it actually opens the eyes of many that they do exist...and do so to ensure our freedom and liberties. A parade is simplistic...but it gives a focus to many who have no clue.

My husband's a vet, both of us have active & veteran friends. None of them thinks this parade idea makes them feel appreciated at all, they see it as a mockery wrapped in dick measuring.

Most vets f#ing hate the firework displays put on "for them" because people are dense idiots and don't get that exploding s# around vets is insanely insensitive. Like they want reminded of war zones at home. Most vets don't like being paraded around at events as objects to ogle, either. Most vets don't even like the hero worship, and find it very uncomfortable at best. Nobody likes a random groveling sycophant at their feet.

We don't need to pull our own NK parades out of our asses, they're not going to make anybody feel any better about jack s#. All they do is waste a lot of money the vet services could use. But that would be too easy, redirecting a crapload of money from frivolity toward things that would show actual, tangible give-a-f# about the people formerly in the military.

Every time A team wins the world series or the superbowl we have a parade.

We have st Pattys day parade, a new years parade a christmas parade.

Gay people have parades. There is literally a parade every other week in this country.
