It's a waste of money but nothing new.

So this means we should ignore tax payer money being wasted? Because hey, it's always been done right? Always will be?

Lovely response there Critical. Don't want to anger others. Nice and safe.

I propose we take the money from Planned Parenthood's funding.

Gibberly gobbily gook! Spelling Nazi and penny pinchers who seem to have no outcry about spending 500 million dollars for a silly presidential library for OBAMA! But Lordy, Lordy don't spend 92 million on celebrating our current innovative, brave and loyal military defense.

Presidential records vs a parade. Such a tough call.

It's kind of disgusting that a man who never served and actually got out of service would hold a military parade, and let's get this straight, for his own ego.

Patriotism isn't in a parade.

He is serving now.

How many death threats has he had?

How could a military parade cost that much money. You pay the salaries of all the military personal no matter where they are at. The military would be doing something else expensive anyway so going to DC should not cost much more. I think there is something wrong with their figures, did they take all the people's salaries into account for the whole deal even though they would be getting them anyway? Sure paperwork might depict a high cost but that is not always what should be compared. They have to keep track of everything for something like that to record overall expenses.

Someone is probably twisting the cost way out of reality.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Due to the great economy, government's revenue is soaring. $96 million will have the same (or lesser) "impact" on the budget, as the $12 million estimate last year. (IMO)

As of the end of June 2018:

The latest monthly budget report from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office finds that revenues from federal income taxes were $76 billion higher in the first half of this year, compared with the first half of 2017. That's a 9% jump, even though the lower income tax withholding schedules went into effect in February.

What better way to instill a sense of patriotism than to host an $80 million plus military parade I guess? We're taking pages out of the Soviet playbook?

President Donald Trump's military parade this fall is shaping up to cost $80 million more than initially estimated.

The Department of Defense and its interagency partners have updated their perspective cost estimates for the parade, according to a U.S. defense official with firsthand knowledge of the assessment. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The parade, slated for Nov. 10, is estimated to cost $92 million, the official said. The figure consists of $50 million from the Pentagon and $42 million from interagency partners such as the Department of Homeland Security. An initial estimate last month pegged the prospective cost for the parade at $12 million.

Well I guess it's a drop in the bucket compared to the entire defense budget? You know? The one we'll be increasing by a further $192 billion over the next few years? Is this even coming out of that budget I wonder? I wasn't even aware there was a green light given for this military parade? Why is Trump worried about having a military parade and not his campaign promises like that $12 billion Mexican wall that Mexico is supposed to pay for? Aren't there more pressing issues to deal with and focus tax payer money on? like the financially broken Veterans Affairs Department? So many questions ya know? It baffles the mind.

With a price like that it ought to be something to see...Can't wait...

I never thought bone spurs and tiny hands would lead to such a waste of money but here we are.

Agreed. This would mean far more children being born into poverty and having to enlist to pay for school... hell, your plan practically makes money. It's genius.

Truth of the matter is that all of you are full of #.
Both teams are wasteful and corrupted, and you ignore all the wrongdoing of your side while going on and on all day about how the other side is so horrible.

The lot of ya is what's wrong with this nation, and I've been sick of it for decades.
Forgive me if I think you're all complete fakes because I can't help but face the facts of reality.

It's great for country morale and military morale. Service people could use a little recognition and praise for their sacrifice and dedication. The govt wastes more than that on one stupid transgender study. If you are going to selectively choose things you don't agree with to complain about govt spending then with all due respect just go away.

I think this will be a good thing for vets. Show them that they themselves are appreciated.

And I love how most liberals only care about the VA when its politically convenient. How was the VA run under Obama?

Just another day appealing to emotion eh SG?

You want emotion? my neighbor who happens to be a vet fell off a chair and I had to help him off the floor before the paramedics arrived. He has to pay for his home care services.

You want emotion? my grandfather got eight large in war bonds for his service, and if my math is correct that is a helluva lot less than Eighty Million. If Trump wants his parade that's fine but that's a lot of money, money better spent on improving the lives of veterans.

But hey if people want to support a president who has small man's syndrome, then by all means go ahead and support the waste of at least four large tons of fuel a minute just for a flyover.

I really would love to see a parade. I think our soldiers deserve it. But the cost is freaking crazy and we can't bring out the real toys to show the world.
I think the Government should look back to all the defense contractors who have made 100s of billions for donations to pay for this thing.
