This is a deeply disturbing move on the part of the administration.

Our country is in serious, serious danger.

You’re joking, right? Do you take that council seriously? With human rights violators on there like China, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, etc.

Isn't this the same UN human rights council headed by newly appointed Saudi Arabia?

Yeah kinda not seeing the point here...

Although true. Isn't this the kind of place we need to be? Condemning Saudi Arabia for Human Rights abuse, voting, speaking, making a difference. or we could just walk away and put our head in the sand?

we're not going isolationist. we are pursuing our own pro-freedom agenda without wasting time / resources on this sick joke of a beauracracy.

Still looking for an answer as to where Trump's conscience was when he enabled the Saudis to violate even more human rights by selling then $350 billion worth in military grade weapons.

Why is he all of a sudden worried about human rights when he weaponized the biggest human rights violaters on the planet less than 2 years ago?

He sounds like an enormous hypocrite but none of his followers seem to care. Sad.

I look forward to the possible answers to this without the use of Obama or Hillary as a deflection point. I'll probably be waiting a while.

What does selling weapons have to do with human rights?

Come on dude, you can't be that blind surely? It's not like weapons shoot flowers, rainbows and freedom is it? Can't object to Saudi human rights abuses from one side of the mouth and sell them the weapons used to commit said abuses from the other and expect any nation to take you seriously.

The US sells the highest amount of weapons to nations with human rights abuses, trains in torture/rendition, illegal black sites than any other nation in the world. The only reason these regimes are in power is because the US sells them total surveilance and military weapons to use on civillians and anyone flagged as a 'political dissident'.

It's only been a couple of weeks since Trump completely dismissed all NK human rights abuses saying 'lots of people do bad things' and is now pretending to care about human rights.

Considering how Saudi Arabia was on that ridiculous council good for America.

Maybe the U.N. should abolish it entirely if they’re not gonna take it the least bit seriously.

realpolitik.
selling the Saudis the stuff to keep Iran at bay.
realistically we have to deal with some bad guys to deal with worse guys. would you have objected to FDR assisting the USSR against the nazis?

The more Trump does..
It’s genuinely looking like he may save us from TPTB.

The UN as a whole is pretty much the face of the new world order.
They are the definition of an Orwellian government - we’re helping you poor souls! But really we’re just enriching ourselves.

You have to remember that we're heavily involved in the UN anyway. We have a lot of resources there. Being this council isn't any kind of burden on us, but, it does give us a voice and a platform to make some real changes. Why throw that away on a temper tantrum type move?

for how long are we expected to sit there and be outvoted and shouted down before we stop beating our head against the wall?

Yeah, who cares about human rights anyway. Totally overrated.

The United States does, that’s why we refuse to stand with those that act like they care but everyone knows they do the opposite.
