Its funny in ways when we look at intelligence . Like as if a computer has some kind of intelligence to discern things . Hey how about instead of sharing nude pic's you make a decision to show the real deal in a real way but not in front of any appliance that just might be watching . They may have even created a dildo to share data ...no wait . its all crazy girl .

Ever watched the News?

To the OP , FB techs look at this as a math problem, Pattern X (nude pic)=Y, prevent Y, no pattern X pics.

Everyone else sees it as a moral equation Nude pix X+Y (internet)=Kim Kardashian

crap, that can't be right.

It's a Canadian thing. I don't know when it happened but Canada is the leader of the world when it comes to gender equality. In fact, it is expected that this is one of the primary issues Trudeau will bring up at the upcoming G7 summit.

Canada’s G7 presidency to focus on gender equality, economic issues

Revenge porn?

No smoke without fire - There wouldn't be any revenge porn if there was nothing to revenge. What goes around, comes around.

While I'm at it:

Everywhere there are articles in media like "Why do men send pictures of their genitalia? What is wrong with the current generation? How much medication must we give them to subdue this misogynistic behavior" (blah-blah-blah).

Why do nobody ask why women don't apprecatie pictures of dicks?

This is NOT me saying that we guys SHOULD send dick pics to chicks. I'm merely pointing out the interesting difference between the sexes - we guys appreciate good pics of pudenda every day of the week - if we've asked for it or not. We will even pay for it one way or another, if we have to.

Because we guys love the lady parts so much that we also love any depictions of said parts.

To a woman, it seems like any depiction of the business end of a man is deeply offensive - For their sake, I hope the human race will evolve to a point where babies are made in countertop incubators (like a bread maker). Then they will never have to suffer the unsurmountable agony of dealing with male genitalia in any way, shape or form.

Meanwhile, I suggest any men with urges to send pics of dicks to chicks, instead should send well-lit pics of their wallets. That should go down way better.

this is just madness. if people do not want naked pics or pics of them in compromised positions out there, just stop posting them or taking them in the first place maybe?

And a side note, what in the blue hell is a "Gender Justice Consultant"? This world is getting to crazy for me.

People like taking them, why can people not share things with their SO's?

It seems to me like it shouldn't be unreasonable for people to have control of their likeness online, this goes beyond naked pictures. Photos of you should need your consent in order to be shared, and access needs to be able to be revoked. Currently, once something is out there, it's out there and that's a bad thing from the standpoint of an individual having control over their image. The only solution shouldn't be to shun digital photography completely, especially so considering that someone else can take a photo of you and post it which means that avoidence isn't even a solution.

Don't you see? This is shaping up exactly like the abortion issue in some ways.

For sane people, we wonder what you were thinking to even do this in the first place. Nothing in digital dies, so if it's something you didn't potentially want splashed all over the internet, you shouldn't have put it out there even once to begin with.

For the rest, they do it and then blame everyone and everything else when those digital photos go off into the wilds of the web, and you excuse by wondering what sane people care.

You don't get it. It's not that we care; it's that we wonder about their lack of judgment to begin with.

Lets say you're throwing a birthday party for your kid. Someone else takes a picture of your kid having fun and posts it online. Without your consent or your kids consent. You've now lost control over your sons digital likeness. That is the issue. Your son (or you as his parent) should have control over his likeness appearing anywhere online. And you should have the ability to allow or deny access to that likeness to anyone.

This Facebook example involves nudes, but the concept is the same. Your image is yours, and there needs to be ways to control the distribution of that.

What's the difference between a nude photo you don't control, and a non nude photo you don't control? Beyond a small amount of embarrasment that is? Your image is out there, and you have no control over it.

...posting revenge porn is not a male specific activity, women do it to men as well.

I've never sent any pics of my bits to anyone, either by standard MMS or online so it doesn't worry me, but I wouldn't really care if an ex posted a picture they have, it is what it is, just a body part, so meh.

BUT...

Read between the lines. Facebook only wants girl nudes.

How dare you! Facebook is so gender neutral they invented 84 "genders".

Transgender porn is all they're after.

That's only what they tell their friends.

OH, they want it all.

PS: facebook, and other small companies can use user data as long as a user signs the agreement.

Here's the thing ... You. Can't. Stop. Them.

See, you make the picture and send it to 5 people. You have no way of knowing what those 5 people will do with it. You expect they will keep it to themselves, but you have no way of knowing. If even 1 of those 5 shares it, maybe even with just 1 other person and so on and so forth ... all it takes is to hit just one person in that ever expanding circle who doesn't give a toss or makes a mistake or something and HELLO, NURSE! you're the new viral celeb in certain circles.

Even just a lost or stolen phone could do it somewhere along the chain.

If it's something never intended for anyone else's eyes, then you make sure it never could get to anyone else's eyes. One really good way to do that is to keep it off your electronic devices.

You should be able to stop them though. This is actually an example of where DRM is a good thing. Without going too indepth on the hows, you should at any time be able to decide who you want or don't want to be able to see an image. Any photo you are in, with or without your consent should be able to be denied or approved.

Some examples:
You should be able to block anyone on the sex offender registry from viewing any photo your child is in, regardless of who took that photo.
You should be able to remove the ability for anyone other than your husband to see a photo of yourself naked.
You should be able to fully remove an embarrasing photo of you from being accessed by anyone.
You should be able to block your image from being used without your knowledge in commercial products (think the people who chase people down for release of informations in films).

You should have that level of security and control over your image at all times. I don't think Facebook has the perfect solution here, but they're trying to advance the technology to do so.

Built one of those years ago for a friend, game controller hooked to a computer... it tracked usage duration cross referenced with vibration patterns, then improved the routine over time using a genetic algorithm. It was a fun project. Good for edging apparently.

Was too embarrased to ever talk about it in my AI classes I took though.

Desensitisation... for some places catching sight of an anything above the ankle; causes a mental feeding frenzy.

There is something to be said for personal modesty.

Perhaps since software and other artists are good at nooding ANY and every one they want to nood... the one's asking for this; think they can somehow use photo technology to do what? Clear out all of the fakes? Well, then what happens to the real ones? They could then be used to blackmail people. This sort of thing is already done in many places; without any sanitizing... entrapment. Hey if you don't pay we will ruin you, release them to your family, friends, co-workers.

How many politicians and religious leaders have been caught all guilty dog style? Quite a few...

Marriages are sometimes just for convenience or perhaps conveyance; seeing how many use it as a slave/master or thinking it will get them into a better situation... than going it alone. Motives; rare that anyone ever need to stop and question their own. When more than one is involved it becomes political, the more that get added... depends on the leadership of both parties over the rest of their little herd.

I personally am kind of a hermit; I enjoy my own personal time to continually meditate and create art and writing of various sorts. I only have to answer to my appetite and bowels; that seems to irritate those that made other choices in life or desire my life to be what they want or expect; ha um yeah; NO. Each choice IS yours no-one else's even when asked... even in a relationship/partnership, marriage etc it IS your individual choice... so best to be ALWAYS honest, or else nothing but a spark of negativity; grows, festers, infects, and consumes... then it is just spite and unfulfillment, hate, unhappiness, pain and suffering to lament and then pass onto all of those that are already tired of it before you even open your mouth to spread it.

Roles are bad unless one is an actor; so never ever act a role in real life. It is a form of cheating; who does it cheat? Oneself and only oneself. As cheating in speech, gives rise to more cheating in mind, and then cheating in the body as it cultivates nothing worth growing.

Wisdom grows from experience; trying NOT to add to the; manure already present... is what actually heals. Many would rather have a distraction from themselves; and well that's where self cultivation springs into life; goals, hobbies etc.

I have too many hobbies and goals to be honest; so much so many stagnate and sit, but hey that's on my time so nothing I am aware of; is really waiting on me. So done or not; it is what it is until I change it. Though, I am perfectly fine for incalculable aeons just sitting.

I am not disagreeing, but in this case, we're talking about people who take the nudes, send them, and then complain when those people they sent them to use them.

If I send something off, I put it in someone else's control willingly. This isn't (and hasn't been) a question of someone else sneaking in a camera and taking my nude image to post around without my consent from the very beginning as would be the case with your example of someone else taking a picture of my kid at a party.

But what you're intending to do, is provide access to view, not access to redistribute. And that's why solutions to this problem are needed.

Well I'm sure the EU has the solution with their new, proposed regulations which will require everyone to buy licenses for all sites they ever want to re-use content from, so if someone ever uses anything without having the proper license to show for it, they'll be fined bigly.

And somehow, I don't think that'll stop it even then.

Like everything, people who do this don't care what you intended. If they cared, they wouldn't have passed on your nudes to begin with, and this wouldn't be a thing to discuss. But, by all means, I'm sure more laws to make it less legal will stop the people who didn't care before and make them care afterward.

I agree that it is strange for Facebook to request nude photos. However, I disagree with your sentiment that people who have nude photos on their devices or the cloud are to blame for someone else stealing them and distributing them as revenge porn.

People should have the right to store their nude photos on their devices or the cloud and feel secure doing it. This isn’t the 20th century anymore - we use digital cameras, often incorporated into our phones, not film. It only makes sense for security to catch up with this fact.

I flat-out disagree with your assertion that people should not take nude photos of themselves, and if they do, it is their own fault when someone hacks them and uses the photos for revenge porn. The blame obviously falls squarely on the shoulders of the perpetrator.

As for sending these photos to someone else, one should always be aware of the risk when doing so. Still, it is the perpetrator who is to blame, not the man or woman whose nudes have been commandeered.

When it comes to Facebook, they have developed a service that allows someone to upload a nude photo in order for it to be analyzed and then prevented from being shared on Facebook or Instagram. What do you have against this service? It sounds like it addresses an issue that is prevalent on the social network.

My only concern is that living people are involved with the process to prevent future sharing and look at the photos themselves. Take out the man in the middle and replace them with AI and it sounds like a great idea. Unless you were planning on sharing some revenge porn yourself, O.P.?
