How lovely Fiver! Thank you for sharing the beautiful artwork! How have you been?

i'm good
found out yesterday at work that the person on my team who has been really flaky and obstructive lately put in notice, so that's always a good feeling. looks like i'm moving into her position as well, which is a lateral move with a little more responsibility. i'm going to see if i can get a better title out of it, maybe.

plus one of our design departments put a bunch of unused samples and discontinued product up for grabs and i got some cute stuff for me, and to gift to my friends.

can't complain

how are you?

Thank you Gordi for the notification of yet another story contest! I see you have entries already.

I'm lucky I can come up with anything for our own story, never mind a contest. LOL

Good luck to anyone who enters!

I'm just glad you are home and can now heal up, hopefully enough that won't warrant further surgery. Hugs!

Kitty Queen will keep on eye on you and keep you good company.

Way to go! Congratulations!
I imagine there will be a pay raise to go with that promotion.

I am well, just tired today. Thank you for asking!

In other news (while my brain is working enough to share), I've reminded dad that Paris did her deed to remind him of who the boss is around here. As I have mentioned earlier, in order to have the surgery I was required to get an okay from a cardiologist due to last years heart attack. I attempted making an appointment with the cardiologist that I have given up on as he has the personality of a brick. This failed due to him being sick in the hospital at that time. The foot doctor's staff did recommend a cardiologist for me to see but unfortunately, his office does not accept my insurance. I made the foot doctor aware of this and he came up with the plan that worked. That was for me to go to the ER and explain the situation to them with the need for my surgery.

Sure enough, everything went to plan with a bonus of sorts. The hospital cardiologist is the same one that I tried to get an appointment with. He is a very nice guy and after I explained my insurance issue with him he suggested calling his office to make an appointment and they would see what they could do to "tweak" my insurance. After examing my heart test and such it is his belief that I am in need of a cardioverter-defibrillator. Add this doctor to the phone call list for Monday.

While at the hospital I received a called from the non-profit group that helps disabled with transportation, peer groups, job training and such. They have agreed to waive the fees for there buses for me meaning I will have the freedom to go to just about where I please without a half-blind mostly deaf driver (dad). Add them to my call list for Monday as I was asked to give them the address of my Social Security hearing this at the end of this month. As they are my only option of transportation that has a lift style bus this would be in my best interest.

A couple of useless side notes of my hospital stay -

One of the rooms I passed along the way my hospital room was marked with a sign saying IT Closet. As a Steven King fan this made wonder what they kept there. lol Sadly enough my room number was #418. I wanted to be transferred to #420 but I don't think they would get the joke.

Sounds like you found some decent doctors who are actually willing to work with you, that's awesome and rare.

Yep, Queen Kitty is doing her best to keep me comfy. I just have to move her around on my desk or the bed every once in a while.

I think it's awful your father threatened to kick the cat out. It sounds spiteful at the least. I hope things improve and that you are taking things as easy as you can. I have a friend coming tomorrow to do some shopping for me so that's one worry less. Easy like Sunday morning (well, hopefully not actually morning).

His Father has threatened to get rid of the cat/cats before as far as I know. Blue won't allow it. Don't worry.

I am so relieved that someone is finally helping you Light! Whew!

Elsewhere in Accasia...part of our ongoing story.

Deep in the heart of the cave, they gathered for protection, holding on desperately to a hope that threatened to fade away. A child sat in the corner, hands folded over her knees that were against her chest. "Momma, why does evil exist in Accasia and all the Kingdoms of the Shed lands?"

The young woman with ice blue eyes and long flowing dark hair, took her childs hand and held it tightly in her own. Tragic visions filled her mind as she searched for words of wisdom, but none came. "We'll be fine my Angel." She spoke in a soothing voice. "We have the greatest force of Light with us and battling as we speak against whatever darkness that exists." It was the best that she could come up with at the moment as she fought off feelings of dread and hoped it would suffice for the time being.

An elderly couple with scraggly white hair, knarled fingers and weathered and wrinkle faces held each other close. Salty tears falling as they sat in the silence.

Fires burned brightly giving light and warmth to the darkened cave, casting dancing shadows across the walls.

One of the gaurdians in charge of protecting these people stood tall and brave. "Do not fear for our friends are out there. They have never failed us...ever." He turned away from them as his smile faded. He did not wish for them see the worry in his face.
