More people are programmed to do what the famous does and many are programmed to document every waking moment and post it for others to judge... that is all I can come up with, my wife loves her tech but I told her I wanted to visit where my Great grand dad came from.

So she relented, after we were done she wanted to come back before leaving Europe... but that was before she got pregnant and is do in the time frame we were planning to do it again.

I sure have, I was there two months ago.

Two months ago was early February and NOT spring break.

When was the last time you were there?

By outta of the loop you mean I live in Florida and was in Clearwater in 2018?? What about you? When was the list time you were in Clearwater or Florida For that matter?

February. Did the whole Gulf Coast from Marco Island (convention) to Pensy.

I'm not the best person to ask 'when have you been X last?' since I travel all over the country weekly.

Yeah, I don't mind either, as long as I don't get a vehicular manslaughter charge if I accidentally run one over.

He doesn’t understand Florida has about a month and a half worth of spring breaks. Different places of the country and even world vacation at different times. But don’t tell the Florida expert that.

The closest to "vacation" i ever got was going on youth group mission trips and living/working homeless shelters in Dallas and El Paso.

Ouch.

I still don't see the point, to be honest. And you can tell...i lose about half of my annual award of PTO because I don't use it.

I can't imagine not traveling tbh. There's just so much to see in the world — hell, there's so much to be seen just in the contiguous US — and nothing takes the place of actually being there. And I think it's really good for kids to travel.

We took in my sister-in-laws daughters when she died. The older two only lived with us for a few years as they were in their mid-late teens (the one was 17). They both couldn't wait to get out of high school, immediately get pregnant by losers and fall into low wage jobs. They'll never leave the #ty, dying town they grew up most of their lives in and I think a lot of is that they're comfortable with low expectations because they've never really seen anything else.

The youngest was 9. By the time she graduated high school, she'd been to probably 20 states, the Bahamas, Mexico, Belize (I didn't go on that trip regrettably and I've still never seen Mayan ruins in person), etc. She went to a good school, got her bachelors, she's got a decent job and is working on her masters now. She's in a long term relationship with a guy who also has a degree and a good job, she's waiting until she's established to have kids and she has no desire to live a life like her sisters.

Now some of it is probably just that she spent formative years in a middle/upper-middle class household and has a certain taste for material things that her sisters don't but I really believe that having seen more of the world, she has a completely different frame of reference that keeps her from limiting her expectations.

Anyway, we go on at least one week-long vacation a year most years but we usually try to do a couple long weekends (NOLA is always good for a long weekend if you want to get away, eat some good food and do a bit of drinking/relaxing) as well. It doesn't have to break the bank. Lots of awesome places within driving distance anywhere in the US and if you plan (my wife is a travel planning master), you can usually find good deals on airfare and lodging.

Okay. It starts in March and continues into April. It's typically timed to coincide with Easter.

Actually spring break starts for some people in February. But you travel every week and stay at a Holiday Inn so you know what’s going on.

It's not remotely hard to find thousands of inaccurate articles on the internet. But you know what they say about the internet.....It's on there so it must be true!!!

That, immediately followed with

As a fellow brother in blue trust me Clearwater is a nothing College Spring Break wise compared to PCB and others. Sure some kids go there but not to the level people are saying here.

Yea, you're right, I should trust some random dude on the internet's opinion over dozens and dozens of articles on the internet, because articles on the internet can be inaccurate.

Makes total sense man.

I think we can all agree that Clearwater is a vacation destination, right? Can we leave it at that?

Even without the tourist rush, Clearwater is a massive overpriced tourist trap imo. Restaurants are overpriced and the food quality sucks. Now, Stefano's in Indian Rocks, I will make the drive for.

Once you cross the bridge to sand key, and go south you get all the same sugary sand beaches, but much less traffic congestion.

Outside of the spring break rush, Clearwater is great for families though, they always have events going on around the pier.

Why are you concerned with what other people do when it doesn't impact your personal enjoyment?

Exactly. I take vacation in the Great White North on a tiny lake with lots of fish. Most of the time there's no one else around.

Eden.

Soooo you’re proven wrong about your dates so you move the goal post. I have to admit the tactic was predictable and rather amusing. However not as amusing as your poor joke... stays at the hilton?!?! If you aren’t poor you just one step above it.....

He said the hilton!! LMFAO. You could have at least said Airbnb haha. Hilton!!!! Brahahha

another way of looking at it - you were so obsessed monitoring what other people were doing and getting wound up by it - did YOU actually enjoy yourself ?

I don’t give a crap who you trust lmao. I was trying to point you in the right direction and let you know some facts. That’s on you in you choose to continue to look like a fool.

And you’re right, who would ever believe you could be a fellow brother in blue and not just some crazy guy on the Internet. How foolish of me to treat you as my peer!!!

"Vacation", sorry guy but it sounds to me that as far as Vactioning in the US, you're doing it wrong.

We NEVER vacation at the popular spots or cities. Vacation for us means exploring the remote hinterlands, camping, National Parks and State Parks "out of season". Your problem is you're learning a valuable lesson.........people suck! And nothing sucks like crowds of people............that really sucks.

Try it different, this lady was my inspiration!

Oh and just to chime in on Clearwater, I was born there, raised about 2 counties over its a cesspool, and has been a cesspool for decades.

I can think of several locations that will provide better beaches, better prices, and better looking women with the added benefit of not risking a mugging every time the sun sets.
