So everyone is against a state putting their state motto on buildings.

And people think I'm nuts.

To me, this seems like a backdoor to bring God back into the schools through legislation. Can they display their state motto in public restrooms? On every government owned building? A company making the choice is one thing. Forcing it by law, is another. And it is clear, that the reasoning for this bill is for religious reasons, to bring God back into the schools. I am a Christian, and I believe people should freely be able to express their religious beliefs. But I believe that this bill is unwise, and will lead to more problems than solutions.

Must be written in code language somewhere.

It's the same damned thing with statues.

Some people find something offensive, so NO ONE can see it.

It appears as though many don't really want free expression.

Would you mind if we put, "In Satan We Trust" right next to it?

Not at all, if it's the state motto then sure go for it.

Adding god to our national anthem, our currency, our courts(swearing on the bible), on our police vehicles, and in our schools is forcing subjection on those that don't believe in it. Your religion, or faith is just that...yours. Keep it out of government where it doesn't belong.

Don't forget the 2 Federal Holidays - - Christmas and Easter.

Huh? Easter is not a federal Holiday.

It's the state motto. Has been for over a century.

It's a free speech issue.

You're either for it or against in, in my opinion.

Do public schools close for Easter week?

Yes, I know -- some now call it something else.

(Public schools are state -- same point)

Name one time in human history where humans weren't selfish assholes to each other. Bet you can't.
Frankly I gave that some thought... I don't ofhandedly dismiss just for the sake of a sucessful debate, but I thought about it. There are so many everyday that don't get reported, and it's a true shame. But to answer in a quite simple way....Any time that our children were watching Mr. Rogers...

People who believe in god’s are delusional.

Maybe, but non believers have gone completely
off the negative deep end. And actually think they can judge and ridicule believers. As if belief in God
Is more perposterous than believing in chance and coincidence to the power of infinity is a more
accurate account of existence creation.

But believers dont find joy in ridiculing or mocking others. No matter how ignorant they seem trying to
explain creation without a creator. Or desigign without a designer.

Putting "In God We Trust" in the schools is not a problem. It does not force anyone to believe. It does not force anyone to do anything. It does however allow Christians to worship more freely than they can now. Why is it that people have no problem allowing muslims to throw down a prayer rug and bow to the east but the idea of a Christian praying SILENTLY to him/her self is prohibited?

The separation of church and state has been twisted in to something it was never meant to be. Government can not tell you what religion to follow nor prevent you from following the religion of your choice. it has nothing to do with putting a cross on a wall or the Ten Commandments on a plaque.

Every time there is an incident at a school the very first thing people do is gather together, hold hands, and pray. No one tells them they are not allowed to do that on school grounds, although someone should because that is the way the law is interpreted now. Its funny that when there is no disaster to reflect on people have plenty of energy to devote to being offended by religion and forcing some civil servant to validate their itty bitty hurt feelings. But when something bad does happen its "hold my hand and pray with me".

If people would just stop being so freakin offended at everything and mind their own business a lot of these problems would just disappear.

It sanctions that this school believes in gods, and gives that idea the support of the state. if the kids want to write it on their books, or tattoo it on the inside of their lips, i could care less, but not on the schools walls.

When people stop using money because they are so offended that it is emblazoned with "In God We Trust", I'll start to take them seriously. It's been a long time since I was in school, but I can almost guarantee that most, if not all students, will not be affected one way or the other if this motto is placed in schools. It is not going to change their behavior in any way whatsoever.
My kids don't get their moral or religious values from school anyway, so I don't really care if they post this or not. It is a meaningless gesture, but will cause no discernable damage to any student.

As I said, it's just words. No one forcing anyone to attend church or announce their beliefs.

Not yet, but that's the next step. This is 100% unconstitutional and 100% unecessary.

What is wrong with politicians in Florida, they seem to be mostly insane.

I have a good meet-in-the-middle compromise for them.

"In Whatever Omnipotent Deity You Do or Do Not Trust"

There, makes it all-inclusive & neutral. I can actually back that one. Gives the religious their binky nod, gives everyone else room to make it their own on their terms.

Yea, ok. Just as soon as they prove their version of some god actually exists.

Otherwise fire them all and prohibit them from filling any gov or state position for the rest of their lives.

Just pretend 'they' worship money. It's still printed on money, isn't it? Coincidence?

Anyways, they're just words. Let people cheerlead their words if they want, it never hurt you or me none.

Perhaps you don’t understand the need to separate church from state? Or the reasons why we do not pander to those who believe in Gods?

The words being there mean that they have the support of the state. And you definitely don’t understand the consequences of that do you?

Please explain the consequences?

That request is for humanity as a whole. Sure there are exceptions and Mr. Rogers is a damn good one, but I'm talking about average human behavior. Not name a few outliers that break from the norm.

Today's age is largely considered the safest time for humans to be alive since violence is at an all time low (so you'll also find most of those selfless outliars existing in today's day and age), yet there are STILL Christians quoting that passage as some indicator that the end times are upon us. The way I see things, people who quote that passage are doing humanity a disservice while at the same time displaying their ignorance of human history.

The state would then be condoning the belief of gods. Since gods aren’t real, teaching kids that they are, is tantamount to child abuse.

Because all parents that teach their kids that Jesus is God are child abusers?

Im not sure if I would go as far as that but I won’t disagree with you either.
