He did not revolve a policy intended to stop people with mental illnesses from purchasing guns. He overturned a rule that even the ACLU had problems with due to how broad and overreaching it was and how it didn't specifically address what people thought it did. Not to mention the rule only applied to about 75k people and did nothing to address the rest of the country.

This rule would require the Social Security Administration to forward the names of all Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefit recipients who use a representative payee to help manage their benefits due to a mental impairment to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).

All this did was stop people who have a state issued money manager from exercising their 2nd amendment rights without actually determining whether or not they're a threat to themselves or to others. It didn't identify at risk people or even provide guidelines for what at risk constitutes.

It was a lousy policy... plain and simple

Ursushorribilis:

So what responsibility does the shooter take in this? He is the sole one responsible.

Obviously, the shooter takes the consequences of his actions. He accepted responsibility by pleading guilty. Personally, I don't think he gives a #!

You are just using this an excuse to bash Trump.

Trump bashes himself. He gives the world all the opportunity it needs to assassinate his character. You don't publicly give support to a policy of carry and conceal that recedes gun control, then attempt to visit with the families of victims of a gun rampage. Are you really so dense that you cannot see the schism in such a thing, and how inappropriate it would be?

Our founding fathers are responsible because they ensured our gun rights.

No. The person wielding the weapon is responsible, and you know it. Your puerile logic speaks volumes about you.

Re read my post. I wasn't claiming that the founding fathers are responsible. Your logic says otherwise tho. Blaming everyone and everything except the only person responsible. The shooter.

the shooter was reported to school officials who still let him hang around all day.
the police was told he was a threat yet they ignored it and they felt the need to pat themselves on the back even tho it took them almost 30 minutes to show up and it took another towns cop to catch shooter 5 blocks away.

the fbi was infored shooter was a threat but they ignored info they to busy going after russian social media trolls who reminded people hilly was dirty.
boy with diagnose of autism was allowed to by a varmint rifle during time of obama's presidency.

Let's blame Trump and not the FBI who dropped the ball allowing this. Makes sense if you're an idiot.

To the kids in the video:

There are no other people between the shooter and the President?

No other adults? Anywhere? The school, the police, the FBI, etc.? Only the President can swoop in and make it right or be responsible for the horror.

I guess they are just kids who went through a stressful event. Let them be.

This 19 year old kid was not collecting social security, and was not diagnosed by a physician. That law could have been left alone, and it still would not have stopped this sociopath from legally purchasing. So you are wrong, Trump is not to blame.

Try again though, you almost made a point, it just happened to be wrong.

The FBI is great when they get a case served up to them on a silver platter. Otherwise, they've always been a "Flatfoot Outfit". And that came from a ATF agent, back in 1969, in Spokane. San Bernardino may be much darker. There were five, operators, all in Black, standing in front of that Community Center bldg. just before the bullets started flying. This was shown on Fox News, by a woman on the Third Floor who used a smart phone to video what she thought would be a "Drill". We've never seen any inside vids, and that place was wired to the hilt. Now that Agent is up to replace McCabe at the top of the FBI counter terrorism apparat. And no one, not even the Fox News people who broadcast the original clip, right after that shooting, have said that anything was phony. I have real doubts that the Muslim couple even made it to that front door, before the cops arrived in about four minutes. If they did, they would have been nailed on their way back out. Beyond the five Operators caught on video, out front, there must have been one or two in a getaway rig, which drove around back. Those operators must have kept right on going out the back, to a waiting vehicle. So will the Feds put this fellow into the top position in counter terrorism?? BTW, after that first day, that video clip disappeared from Fox News as well.

Parkland Students to President Trump: Stay ‘Far Away’ From Us

Hussain imagined that Trump would “use this event to make himself look better politically.” “It’s not meaningful,” he added. “He’s the president and he should be speaking on what he’s going to do to make it better for next time. My friend group, Hispanic kids, black kids, they’re not caring for this at all. My dad is of the same idea.”

Another student who participated in Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) with Florida shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz, but asked that he not be named, said most kids and people in town agree that Trump should not swing through.

“One big reason people don’t want him here was his speech yesterday and tweet of his,” the student said. “Apparently [the president] said it was the kids’ responsibility to report Nikolas Cruz so in a way it was our fault… A lot of people aren’t happy about his visit.”

Several senior Trump aides expressed concern to The Daily Beast that Trump could potentially find himself in a situation in Parkland where he is trapped with grieving parents or students who harangue him about his administration’s position on guns, creating horrible optics and more negative press for the president. The same officials also voiced worry that the president’s response to such a situation could potentially make the situation on the ground worse, unintentionally. Asked for an explanation, one White House official referenced the incident when President Trump ended up making a widow cry when he meant to comfort her.

The kids and families are angry. Do you think Trump should visit and be his usual incoherent self and possibly say the wrong thing or will he visit and hope for the best?

What will Trump do if angry parents and students begin to ask questions he is unwilling to or unable to answer? Scream ..Fake News?

I think he should let the FBI handle it.

Oh wait!...

Crazy, I have not looked into any CT's about San Bernardino. I generally take most of these things at roughly face value. Sometimes it's cut and dry, other times there sure are questions..it does make you wonder when vid clips disappear.

I don't doubt they are in deep with dark stuff, from way back near the beginning, when J Edgar realised how much power he had..I'm sure they did a lot of dirty unethical things. It wouldn't be surprising that they still do.

I think this case is straight up incompetence.

Unfortunately, the fact that this event will, if it goes ahead, come sooner rather than later, means that we do not have the luxury of giving a decent amount of time before actually commenting.

I believe that if the people of the affected community, express an overwhelming dislike of the idea, then that ought to be respected, and the President should stay away. If they express a desire to have him present, whether that is to question him about future methods of preventing these incidents, or because they want his support, then he should appear.

But he should not base his appearance there or lack thereof, on what the press will be like in the face of it, but ONLY on what the people want. If he shows up despite their vocal protest against his doing so, that would be a travesty.

A few loud cries rarely represents the majority. However, Parkland DID go 66% for Clinton so maybe those whiners do represent the majority. I recall quite a few times the people in disaster struck cities saying they didn't need Obama to show up, the news just never made it a spectacle, they kept it out of their news cycle.

He kept his distance. Visited the wounded and praised first responders and doctors.
Political marshmallows. Said nothing about guns. Nothing. In a mass shooting event he doesn't mentioned guns.
Like reporting an auto crash on 95 and not mentioning cars.

No not his fault. But his response to it is his choice and he didn't address the gun problem.
