When we were kids, back in the mid 60's, it wasn't mentioned that the Pledge of Allegiance was a form of "Socialism." We were told that it was done to show our love and respect for our country. So, now I guess, Liberals will come up with any type of excuse for not conforming to certain traditions. God forbid, if kids show some respect and love for our country. Nope, can't do that, cause it's a form of "socialism" and we don't want our self indulgent kids to do anything they don't want to. So lets kneel for our National Anthem and not say the Pledge of Allegiance, because it's "our freedom" and "right" to show the world how we're against any form of conformity and "Socialism."

I don't think she should be charged as she is, but she also shouldn't have forced a student to stand for the pledge of allegiance.

See, you nailed it, then you reverted back to deflection and blaming Conservative ideals. Shame on you.

it's the "liberals" fault because they "coddled" their kids and turned them into "snowflakes" that can't function in the real, screwed up, anything for profit, world. it's those "liberals", those "feminazis" that are destroying the world.

Question for ya...did your parents ever "force" you to do something you didn't like? Did you "conform" and do it, because you respected your parents? Why not show some respect for your teacher? Was this kid "special?" or just a brat?

Why does the kid have to be either?

As stated school policy does not require them to stand.
You seem awfully pissy about it

God forbid a person think for themselves and opt out of doing something not required.

Why do you and others want forced conformity? Legit question.

If it's forced it's meaningless.

I would think it better for you to want them to want to conform but you don't. You don't seem to care what they want. You just want them to obey.

You think the teacher is a hero...
You re a strange bird

Since it is not required why not have the teacher show respect for the students choice not to stand?
You don't care about that though.

You re #in weird

I'm not a Liberal and I think the Pledge of Allegiance is superfluous.

Not so sure vaporizing muslims is so much better. I guess the main difference is we aren't led by a cult of personality. Well...not until recently, anyway.

How dare you critically think. You must be anti-American.

Your penance is 10 Pledges and 20 Anthems.

Since penance is typically done on ones knees, ill assume I need to stand instead?

You mean that your teachers didn't tell you all the underlying stories surrounding the propaganda they were forcing down your throat? Say it ain't so!

Also in the 1960's, conservative media hadn't made Socialism out to be the giant bogeyman they pretend it is today yet.

But in any case, here's a free history lesson:
The Socialist Roots of the Pledge of Allegiance

my mom wouldn't have accepted a teacher yanking me out of a chair like that, not for any reason. heck one day I came home and told her about how my friends parent had hit me, and she blew up... I was told just not to go there for awhile a nd well, I assume she had words with the parent. I wasn't "coddled", heck, if I was out doing something that I probably shouldn't be doing it, most times she knew it before I even got home!!! her grapevine was long and extensive as was my fathers while he was alive. I remember only a few times where I was actually hit though.
corporal punishment was not allowed in my school... although I did have one teacher that got herself into trouble when she flung a shoe at one of the kids and hit the student teacher instead. the student teacher left the room crying and never did come back.

trying to blame a school shooting on the parenting skills, which vary so much from parent to parent, along with the "liberals" seems to be some people's way of deflecting away from having to discuss some of the many other facets of the problem though. that massive grapevine that I spoke of, well, it's kind of like the idea that it takes a village to raise a child and so I assume that many conservatives would consider it a very liberal thing.. but I have to tell ya, knowing that your mom had eyes everywhere really did kind of damping the urge to cause mischief. no one laid a hand on you while it was going on, unless you were harming someone else.... but their little fingers where dialing, and reporting with full assurance that the problem would be taken care of once you got home!!! now it seems that far too many seem to think that other people's kids are just a nuisance that they shouldn't have to be bothered with in the least bit. so that grapevine is gone... too bad really, it was a great resource!!!

I don't see why any person should be forced to stand for the pledge. Schools have no business forcing kids to recite this nationalistic mantra day in and day out. It loses meaning that way and becomes a chore. People need to stop forcing people to be patriotic. Maybe if they would give us a REASON to be patriotic we will, but this country has been going down the tubes for while thanks to religion and nationalism. Maybe put money into education and science instead of increasing the military budget constantly, so our country can actually have something to be proud of besides racism and young earth creationism. We used to be a world leader in scientific development and education. Now we are a joke that elects celebrities to the oval office and cares more about temporary emotional appeasement over our future.

exactly couldn't agree more. Standing for the pledge IS NOT worshiping the flag it is showing respect for the many people have died protecting this great nation. This country is almost ripe for picking.

Wow, criminal charges for lifting a child up by his jacket for being a unpatriotic #head. Good for her. For those that don't believe in standing for the pledge of allegiance, fine but you stand out of respect and courtesy for the soldiers coming home with that same "idol" as some called it draped over their caskets. I seriously can't understand the hatred some show for their country and wish you'd just pack up and move to another. For every liberal that leaves, it opens a spot for the illegal immigrants you seem to care about more than Americans. I'd vote for that type of immigration reform in a heartbeat.

not standing does not equal hate for the country

i love when i hear cause the soldiers man... respect for the soldiers

there are soldiers that will tell you they fought so that the person had the right to not stand.
