Let me just clarify something for you, we don't want to take your guns. Don't feel that the Brits are coming for your guns, we might not be perfect but our society hasn't yet degenerated to the point where we feel we need to kill others to be safe.

Let me think, how would this kid not having a gun stopped him from shooting people, hmmmmm that's a hard one ha ha ha

Can't you deal with mental health and guns, does it have to be one or the other?

The question again is how does America stop these events from occurring? To me the answer is plain and simple, gun control

Luckily your opinion here does not matter. Please tell me how gun control would have stopped this.
Mental health is a serious issue facing America today that needs to be dealt with. Until we address this issue nothing is going to change. Chicago proves gun control does nothing but go ahead keep screaming to take our guns and nothing will ever change.

Ummm...that and...STOP force feeding people that are already depressed or have anxiety issues SSRI meds...that have a warning label..."may cause suicidal or homicidal ideation"...

The white whale in the room...

Yeah I do like Mexican food, I'm not really sure what American food is. From what I can gather it mostly originates from Europe anyway, particularly Germany.

Americans for American culture
Australians for Australian culture
Poms for pommy culture
and so on and so forth, all around the flat hollow earth - every country has their cultures, traditions, axioms.

So, once you immerse yourself in American (pre-Constitution) history, it becomes instantly apparent that guns have always been there, as both a keeper of the peace, as well as a means of metting out death and mayhem - always been there, right down to being written into the Constitution as the 2nd amendment.

As a libertarian, I say let the yanks sort their own problems out, unless you're a yank, you have no real dog in this fight other than your equally valid opinion.

Here are the fundamentals
-A human
-A gun
-Ammunition
-Target
-Motive

Zone in on the gun & you miss the target, because the gun can be replaced with another truck/car/blade. There's 4 other requirements for such an event to occur - maybe it's time to treat all of them equally.

In my opinion.

That's a damn good point.

Surely what is needed there then is a better education system then?

Is it not odd that America is home to both the most intelligent and the stupidest people on Earth?

You have (like other gun grabbers) side stepped the question that is always put before you: Do you really think criminals and people who mean to do other's harm, would simply turn in their guns?

The answer is: No. No they would not.

So what you have done is disarmed all the law abiding citizens.

Looking at your OP, you've made another huge mistake: you seem to think that all American's live in some large city where first responders can show up in minutes.

Uh, no. Our country is HUGE and a very large amount of us live in the middle of no where.

20 to 30 minutes is how fast any cop can get to where I live.....deep in the country, where their a lots of deer, rabbit, black bears, bobcats, boar and dogs who have gone feral.

Would I give up my guns? No. No I would not. Those guns put food on my table (saves me a LOT on my grocery bill). Those guns make sure that some of the larger critters that come knocking on my door can be taken care of (because the county has all of 2 guys that are animal control for the whole county).

And yes: in case someone(s) are crazy enough to come up here on my land, with all my dogs barking at them, and me warning them off, if they still decide to come into my home: I'll put them down.

But we don't really have that issue in rural America too much: most people know you come up on someone's land unannounced, you could get your ass shot.

The problem is, and has always been: People. Not guns. People. People are the problem.

Making guns go away will not solve people wanting to kill other people. They'll just do it in other ways......though I suppose having made guns go away (an impossible task here, like I said - criminals are not going to meekly give up their guns), you'll pat yourself on the back thinking you've done some sort of a "good deed", when in fact you've acted out of ignorance.

To me the answer is plain and simple, gun control, taking away the weapons will stop this from happening but as I skip through threads here and on facebook pages it's obvious that no matter how many of your children are massacred you will not hand over your guns.

That's right, we won't.

So grow a pair, and come over and take them from us.

Don't bring a gun though.... because you don't believe that common folks should have them.

What has to happen before you embrace it?

Nothing; there's nothing that could drive us, or at least me and my family, to embrace gun control.

I said okay would it be possible to keep your guns in a hunting lodge to which she responded well no I need them at home to protect myself.

That's the core of the problem you simply can't understand. You would have to actually live in the US to fully appreciate the fact that no one feels safe anywhere, least of all, in some cases, in their homes. Do some homework! Search on "home invasions" + "any US city name". Home invasion murders are now an initiation rite for gangs like MS 13.

Would you feel comfortable walking the streets of the Rio slums without either a fire arm or a body guard? That is precisely what large swaths of US city scape is like.

Want to better understand the US situation? Watch episodes of the popular TV show, "Sons of Anarchy".

London has the seventh highest number of Michelin stars in the whole world. (List of cities with most Michelin stars)

Our food is fine thanks.

Certainly isn't killing anywhere near as many kids as your guns

(btw I'm not against gun ownership, in fact it's nothing to do with me as I don't live in the states, just against idiotic statements
)

Ummm...I know...right...?

Cause homicide and suicide are things of the distant past...over there across the pond...on that quaint little isle of yours...

We former colonists are so fortunate to have the conditioned emasculated deign to look down their noses and offer up platitudes from their enlightened society...

Why...thank you old bean...it's great to be reminded...every other day...how brutish we Neanderthals appear in the minds of the serfs...

Thank you for your well thought out response, please know that I am not trying to talk down to you cos I feel I know better. I genuinely want to know why America is in the state it is in.

I have to ask though, do you think you could still feed your family with one hunting rifle and protect them with one handgun?

Are the kind of weapons used in school shootings really required?

Ooooo! Five stabbings, two dead and several injured in ONE WHOLE NIGHT? In the ENTIRE country?

That's absolutely # all isn't it? In an ENTIRE country? And that was unusual enough to warrant a national headline.
There's many times more shootings than that every single day, in just Chicago alone. Hundreds and hundreds of gun deaths a year in JUST ONE CITY. (btw: London has 4 times the population of Chicago. Just throwing that in there too)

That's a weak weak argument against gun control (again, I don't have an issue with responsible gun ownership and it's really none of my business what you guys do in your own country but... really... that's the best you can come up with?
)

the answer is...we wont submit. Not to criminals, not to corrupt officials. We were founded on standing up to criminal oppression, and thats pretty much that. Seems folks that are accustomed over the centuries to giving up their personal freedom and liberty to kinga and queens are also willing to give up their ability to stand up for themsrlves to this day.

I don't care what you are missing out on.
I have had your food.
The best was very bland.
The worst was spoiled.

Even the orange juice was turned.

Why do you see it as submitting, why can't you see it as becoming more peaceful and civilised?

The British monarchy has no power these days, they are nothing more than a figurehead but I for one am glad we still have them.

It's been a long time since your country was formed, maybe it's time to settle down. I assure you that the British have moved on.

I made you an offer.
You failed to properly respond to it.
You talk big crap about something that has nothing to do with you, that being American law and the Constitution.
Why do you want us to change our laws for YOU?
