When did we become the USP? The United States of Pussification? Kennedy had a parade of missiles during his inauguration. So did Eisenhower. What is the big deal?
...

Haven't you noticed how idiotic some responses have been trying to liken President Trump to Kim?...

According to the "article itself"...

"US President Donald Trump has ordered Pentagon and White House officials to begin planning a military parade in Washington similar to the Bastille Day parade he witnessed in Paris in July, the Washington Post reportes."

Does anyone see in there any ballistic missiles?...

To claim that President Trump (c'mon you can say it) is like Kim for wanting a military parade, is saying that France is like NK since President Trump is asking for a military parade similar to the French Bastille Day parade...

Of course Cadet Bone Spurs wants a military parade in his honor, he was too much of a coward to go to the Nam', so this will bolster his weak self image.

The last prez never served, and his vice president was a draft dodger, and his secretary of state wasn't any better.

Back to that FAUX outrage.

Even the Navy SEAL who killed Osama bin Laden thinks Trump’s military parade is a bad idea

Just another waste of resources and life. For some countries, it is a show of force to their neighboring countries and to reassure their own people. There is no need for USA since it is the most powerful military in the world. I am not American or living in USA.

Confirm this bias B.

A string of heavy-hitting military veterans are hammering Trump over his ill-conceived idea to blow an estimated $20 million or more to line our troops up and force them to march down Pennsylvania Avenue, saluting him in his private box outside the White House.

First, Major General (Ret) Paul Eaton, the former commander of the U.S. Army Infantry Center and the man dubbed the “father of the Iraq Army” for his work training Iraqis after the U.S. invasion, released an absolutely blistering letter calling Donald Trump a 'wannabe banana republic strongman.'

Then Admiral (Ret) James Stavridis released a public letter saying the troops don’t need a 'puffy parade,’ they need real-life support like higher wages, better veteran care, and the weekend off to rest, not wasting their time in the summer heat inflating Trump’s ego.

Sadly those examples are of college educated personnel who seem to have forgot sociology. A large military Parade celebrating the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1, would give most Americans a huge patriotic boost allowing for Congress to pass a larger budget for both the Military and Veterans Affairs.

All this anti-Military sentiment I've been reading throughout this thread cracks me up. The reason those people can even go off and make these statements is because of the military. A military that is fully voluntary, doesn't impose it's doctrine on it's people, and has the ability to refuse orders if those orders are contrary to the Constitution. Most of the people who are sitting around complaining about this parade, have either never been in the military, or have never been treated like crap because they were in the military. Those of us that have seem to not have an issue with celebrating the 100th anniversary of WW1, but hey if you don't like it don't watch. This isn't North Korea where you don't have a choice.

Spare me your BS rationalization for a parade, WW1, pfft most Americans probably couldn't even tell you who we fought.

This parade has nothing to do with honoring the military or whatever so called BS moral boost for America, no it's all about that fat orange pustule getting to pretend he's a man when the troops are forced to salute.

Oh & if you're so concerned about veteran care how about we take the money for the parade & spend it on the troops instead.

Well at least you're consistent with your nonsense.

How do you think we should honor the 100th anniversary of WW1? Should we just forget about it and go put our collective heads in the sand.

What is your real reason for not wanting this parade?

Times have changed....like they do.

Military parades used to be for 'banana republics,' the Soviets and the Chinese. They were usually associated with Communists and South American left-wing dictatorships. Nationalistic propaganda parades for nations on the wrong side of the power equation.

Can you see how wrong you are?

Fair enough. I didn't realise Trump was aiming for small-scale parades. For some crazy reason, I thought he'd be aiming for something 'yuge' like the old Soviets or the Chinese communists. You know what I mean? Something to show the NKs what a real parade looks like.

The US military doesn't get enough attention.

You mean like the programs that are now being funded, and supported? I take it you're either not a Vet or haven't looked into the good things that have changed under Trump. Treatment of Vets have gone up quite a bit since he took office, but it's so easy for everyone to just ignore that because of "Trump".

So you're diving into the question, but you leave with no answers as to how to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1. It sounds like you would rather forget about it, and just quietly deal with the current and former military's achievements by not honoring them at all. That's ok, it seems to be the way most people are now days. I'm sure though, that if we get attacked again, you (like many others) will wave a flag and just play patriot for the day. When all the dust has settled though, you'll go back to really just talk about how we should honor both the wars we fought, and the men and women that paid the price for you (and people like you) to openly disregard them.

And to your "barf" face, I'll leave this thread since it's not worth having an opinion around those that can't (or won't) see past their nose.

You must one confused soul, if vets are being treated better I would like to hear from vets and if they are I will retract my statement with an apology, and as far as your backhanded comment about I don't think they are being treated better because I don't like trump is disingenuous, the only argument you have put forward is you think vets are being looked after because trump says they are.....what that is, is you projecting your failed logic to disprove my statement. since the barf face triggers you so much heres another...

There is a big difference between a few troops marching in a parade and bringing in heavy equipment and hardware for a full military parade! The logistics behind it are overwhelming to even think about. How many tanks do you think are in the DC metro area? How many howitzers are there in DC? They all have to be shipped in, accompanies by troops, who will be away from family for multiple days to supposedly honor themselves... do you think they will Fedex Abrams tanks in to the area?

No there not everything they would need is within 50 miles from DC. They have Aberdeen for the latest and greatest hardware. Can get Maryland and Virginia reserves if they want to show off some strykers. Tanks go in and out of Aberdeen all the time not mention reserves. And you have Andrews where they could fly in anything they wanted. As far as marchers naval academy would be my first choice but I'm sure west point would want to be there as well. Logistically speaking be incredibly easy any unit could be there within 72 hrs.

Now why do it well 2 reasons one being to honor the military for a change. And reason two the public has a disconnect with military personnel. Many people just think the military is some loathsome organization and I think seeing what they do and the pride they take in the jobs would do a lot to change public opinion.

going to a military academy and then dodging the draft due to bone spurs seems extra weak.. he's a puss. it's hilarous how much you all love on him, it's gotta be hard deep down, tho. i'll give you all credit for the commitment!
