a reply to: Xcathdra Then how is that a "National Emergency "?
Pursuant to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, as amended (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) (IEEPA), I hereby report that I have issued the enclosed Executive Order (the “order”) declaring a national emergency with respect to the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States posed by serious human rights abuse and corruption around the world. In addition to taking action under IEEPA, the order implements the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act (Public Law 114-328) (the “Act”) and delegates certain of its authorities.

It kind of looks like Trump is trying to fight some of the people who are trying to seize control of our country from overseas. This is a real threat, they also are funding political candidates. This is a real problem, some of these people do not have our best interests in mind, they want to control our country and we would be expendable pawns.
I am not sure that Trump will get anything accomplished with this, these people are very powerful people.

Yeah, but did you actually read the OP?
It looks like Trump is going after corrupt politicians
Not really. He can't shake things up too much without Trump University being brought up again, or His other bankruptcies that amount to the GDP of some third world nations.
Saying "locker room talk" isn't going to save him the next round of that also.

I will say this again as I think it bears repeating.
The 2 statutes in question (from the op) specifically deal with foreign nations and foreign governments and not US citizens. Any US citizen involved in any of this would already fall under US Domestic law.
While I wish this was the start of the deep state downfall we need to be realistic and not get our hopes up.
