And your conclusion is?

WE (humans) are all 'waste'? Parasites?

What bandwagon did you fall off of?

We have drained this planet of its natural resources and are slowly killing it.

Yes we are parasites on the earth.

I did not fall of any bandwagon, I just happen to rather blunt about the impact humanity has had on the earth.

we have bought into a system that has little regard for anything but profit, and bailing in order to save the planet is not an option for the majority. The other option is minimalism. Not many people keen on that now days. and even if there was a movement, it might be past the point of no return. How many Billion in population share this Blue Sphere.

yep things are bleak, in many ways and on many fronts, no doubt. if we're to make it as a civilization, we'll need to change our entire philosophical way of life. i hope for the best but generally expect the worst.

happy christmas!

We will return to what we were, "savages" of this planet. Aliens came and set the seed of love in the hearts of humankind, so once again humans will return to be "savages" once again till the Aliens come with another seed to put into the "savages" heart. History repeats itself, no beginning, no end. No time and no thought of what is to ponder on your post.

I'm a-okay with this. I hope that people realise this sooner or later. Some of the older generation I know keep trying to show me the positive, not this gloom and doom. I hope it goes to hell in a hand basket!

I remember reading recently something about how if humanity survives the next century we could really advance as a species.

It was basically saying that for our survival the next 100 years could be the most important for us.

time will tell I guess.

Its a bit twisted but I have always thought it would be inserting to see how the story of Humanity all ends. Who knows that might just come to pass.

Really? What resources?

Trees? Oil? Lip gloss?

'Killing' the earth? Ok, I might agree Fukushima is an example but Mother Nature will still prevail. It just might take her a bit.

Beyond that? Yeah....It's not nice to fool Mother Nature. She'll kick your ass.

There is NOTHING we 'humans' can do - that Mother Nature can't do better, and overcome.

I am going to optimisticaly argue all your points.

We all know about the catastrophe that man-made climate change has brought about

When I think about past global extinction events. en.wikipedia.org...
I realize that currently the earth is know where near that bad off. If earth and life on it survived that level of devastation in the past how much better are our odds now with all our human knowledge and technology to defend with.

We are running out of our finite supply of fossil fuels

In the past when humans ran out of something they just switched to a new something and changed their lives accordingly.
I see no reason to believe that this will not be the case here. Nothing is ever truly lost it has just been changed into something else.

but it could save the planet

We do not have the power to destroy the earth without blowing it to pieces. Even if we set off every nuke on the planet all at once life would still survive in the earths crust, deep underground caves, and under the sea floor. Millions of years later the earth would again be full of life, life that is much better at dealing with high levels of radiation. This could be a good thing if sentient life evolves once more and wants to travel in space.

and we all die from infections

Humanity did just fine for 10s of thousands of years without modern medicine.

actually I am starting to think it already is too late

Sounds like it's only to late for you. It is not to late for us.

If you head out to downtown Chicago or Toronto, you'll find all the savages you can scanter up.

I Think you and your Buddy Think too Much . Life is Simplicity , Humans are Prone to Overanalyzing Simple Things , and thus making them a Complication Based on Erroneous Data . Wake Up , Pee/Poop , Work , Think , Eat , Sleep . The Think Part always gets Us in Trouble..........)

While I agree that we are pretty much screwed, I am not quite ready to say we are running out of resources yet.

oil meh, things have gotten thinner and there is no doubt that we will eventually run out of it we will probably have it for the foreseeable future.

If you want to worry about resources try Fresh water that is what will wreck us, Desalinization is a very expensive process and it does not produce quite as much as folks think.

While we probably have wrecked mother nature to a point that mother nature is going to kick our backsides at some point, I think it is much more important for us to shift our focus to working to survive the changes that will hit.

As a species we are as resilient as cockroaches, as long as we have access to fresh untainted water, so do not write us off yet.

Talk about dramatic. And no, we do not all accept the hogwash and exaggerated lies of man-made global warming. And then you brought up peak oil as if that has not already been debunked.

I remmeber peak oil in 2004, we should have been paying like 12$/gal. by now right? The oil wars are not because its running out, they are just expansion priorities. The ocean can handle all kinds as long as its not nuclear. Fukushima is localize enough. Eventually we will have massive barges scooping up the plastic like a surface skimming baleen whale and internally compress it into oil for fuel, or burn it with scrubbers or something.

So you see, your just suffering a bad case of too much drinking and wallowing in despair. Take some tokes, watch a good sci-fi flick and start over again tomorrow.

Tje end of humanity is a bad thing? We are an invasive species and a cancer to this plant.

ohhh I agree we are a parasite on the Earth.

If you feel that way jump off a roof. Otherwise you are just bitching to bitch and not serious enough about wanting to end it all or that you think we are all parasites.

(i am not joking btw) If you truly believe its ending or we do not deserve to live start with yourself. Ill roll ya in a ditch and keep on walking.

I like a line from Lethal weapon here. Come on riggs! Do it! Dont just nibble on the barrel.

(note to those wanting to kill themselves...Dont. Life may seem bad...thats because it is,but death is much worse.)
