Exactly. Trump was the president-elect. It damn sure was his business to contact foreign governments. The only question in my mind is why Flynn would lie about what seems like a very minor & inconsequential matter: a discussion concerning Russia's reaction to sanctions.

I am wondering if the lie has to do with a difference between national security advisor and lobbying on behalf of a foreign government.

The Senate tried that same bs with AG Sessions. Specifically asking about his contact with Russians during the election as a surrogate and then claiming Sessions lied when he didnt disclose his meetings as a sitting US Senator.

There is a difference and in the legal realm it is an important one.

Correct.

Flynn has admitted to lying to the FBI.

Until all details are released there really is nothing speculation.

As for being more it would suggest Flynn has provided info that gets the next higher fish. That cooperation is usually noted as part of a plea deal so the person can be prosecuted for those crimes should they fail to honor the agreement.

You can see it in this thread with certain members invoking Trump when he has nothing to do with Flynn lying to the FBI.

Obama's Administration was full of Muslim Brotherhood and he never discovered them, he never fired them, and nobody was looking for them. Hillary had Huma, she was acceptable lol.

But this is about as bad as it gets for Trump in light of what happened we th comey. Trump told him to back off the Flynn investigation and now Flynn as admitted to being guilty.

I have said it before but I think Flynn is going to tell the investigators everything and trump is going to go down

No law was broken by talking to Russians.

Lying to the FBI about meeting / contacts with Russians is the crime.

Technically, that's not true. Subverting the foreign policy of the sitting President would be a violation of the Logan Act and that's exactly what happened.

That said, only two people have ever been prosecuted under the Logan Act in its more than two century existence and nobody has been convicted so it's pretty toothless and it's singular purpose seems to be making political claims of criminal malfeasance.

And there's the rub. Let's say Mueller tries to claim Trump violated this act. Given what you just explained, it's basically the equivalent of trying to bust Trump for stepping on sidewalk cracks. Republicans will (correctly) interpret it as a tacit admission that Mueller's investigation turned up nothing of substance, so he's trying to nail Trump on technical violations for something that any normal person doesn't care about.

It is an effort to delegitimize Trump's Presidency via false accusations all the while lying about the facts surrounding it.

Since impeachment is a political question and not a criminal one yes, they can introduce article of impeachment because they dont like trump. The asshat democrat, Green. from Texas is a prime example.. The asshat Maxine Waters is another example.

1. American citizens absolutely ARE fair targets where matters of national security are concerned. Flynn was unmasked because it was necessary to fully understand the conversation. It's perfectly legal.

You are correct so where is the FISA warrant on Flynn then? As he is an american citizen to legally spy on him a FISA warrant is needed.
When Flynn had his conversation, no crime was committed. To pass on intelligence gathered on an american citizen when no crime is committed is illegal.
While Flynns conversation may have been unmasked to "understand" the intelligence, when no crime was committed to pass that intelligence on is illegal.
The nsa does not get to collect EVERYTHING only to have the fbi use it at a later date to manufacture a false statement charge.

2. Mueller has admitted no such thing. The American IC was monitoring one of Russia's biggest spies talking to another individual who happened to be Flynn. They weren't spying on the incoming opposition party. That's just partisan BS.

By charging Flynn for making false statements that is EXACTLY what Mueller has admitted. Mueller has proof that Flynn lied. Where did that proof come from? The intelligence info was leaked to the nyt and wapo, and one of the former administrations people was stupid enough to admit leaving "bread crumbs". That is illegal.

What I'm actually doing is trying to get you guys to face reality. So far there's no indication Trump will be charged with anything. If he is, so be it. Right now there's no reason to think that though. You can hold out your hopes all you want.

The tax bill is expected to pass now. I expect some Trump tweet-bombs about fake news. MSM is trying to find a crumb that leads to Trump, but all they have is still UNComfirmed sources and hear-say.
