Further, it's a matter of historical record that Saddam used WMD against the Kurds and the Iranians. We know for a fact he had them. What we got wrong is that they weren't actively producing them anymore. All we found were old stockpiles. Many chemical and biological weapons have a shelf life. However, after the shelf life is up it only reduces the effectiveness of them, it doesn't make them safe. So the fact that all they had were old stockpiles is really moot. They did have WMD and we did find them.
