I'll believe it when they do it.

Until then I don't care.

And even if they do test, I'm pretty sure it means more to China than it will to the US for the time being.

Most likely they already have an operational nuclear warhead (the US has already informed Japan that NK was installing operational nuke warheads on missles, targetted for Japan...)

I have stated loud and long in the seismic and Truth about HAARP pages that something big is in the makings... this could well be it.

N.Korea already knows that they can reach the State of Alaska.

The U.S. government found a practice missle that N. Korea launched and it landed in Alaska several months ago. N. Korea knows what they are capable of. They don't have to practice.

If N. Korea is ever attacked by another country they wouldn't hesitate to use nuclear weapons. If it meant destorying the whole world, they wouldn't care. The people in N.Korea are treated very inhumanly. People are still being put in slave camps. The people have asked for help. If Bush has his way N. Korea will be liberated next.
THEN HERE COME THOSE NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

Think they will test it in the ocean or test on someone?

They'll probably blow themselves up.

We should be so lucky...

I have an uncomfortable feeling that thier first test may indeed be a preemptive strike against Japan... Testing in thier own country would likely be too close for Chinese comfort..

Maybe not.

It isn't all that easy to make or launch a nuclear bomb in a country like North Korea now.

It's quite possible they might have a "nuclear accident" before they get that far.

Can anyone update these figures on number of nuclear warheads x nation?

USA 10,500
Russia 20,000 +
France 450
China 400
UK 185

Unknown

Israel
North Korea
India
Pakistan
Iran
South Africa *
Brazil *

and for the hell of it

Iraq.

South Africa and Brazil fall into the Bush administration category of 'we know they had weapons programs'.

Evil imperialist American Bush call innocent hard-working North Korea 'axis of evil'? Ha! North Korea show evil imperialist America evil !!!!

Masked Avatar is a N Korean propogandist. At least I hope so.
Beyond that I would say the numbers are quite off. Britain has far more than stated. U.S. figures would be right, about 20 years ago, around 7-8K now. Russian numbers are laughable. They MAY have had such capabilities in '82 but the operational nukes now probably number somewhere about 5-6K. ( not that even 1 is good)
China, 400?????

RIIIGGGHHHHTTTT.....
All hooked up in a chain like firecrackers I bet

They may have that in warheads but not in delivery capabilities.
I would guess, ICBM wise, China has about a dozen.

As far an N. Korea showing the U.S. anything?
You must be kidding me!?!?!?
Maybe a contestant for Pyongyang Pete ?

Does anyone have a source, other than guesstimating?

(Bush to N.K.: Hmmmm.... we misunderguesstimated them...)

I'm maybe not as confident as you are in the results or potential results of START I & II, Fry2.

MaskedAvatar North Korean propagandist? Ha !!!! MaskedAvatar think he funny? Ha !!!! North Korea show evil MaskedAvatar and Fry2 how to laugh out of other side of noodle bowl...

Ever thought those figures might have been Cold War propaganda?

What is the logical reason why they wanted that many weapons for? There is absolutely no plausible reason. Just a few of the buggers do the job. What are there aliens coming?

They tell you they got 5 or 6 nukes and you sh!t your pants when you look at North Korea. You looked at 4 or 5000 and boy do you crap yourself. Wasn't the Cold War fun!!!

Ever heard of PsyOps?

If they weren't dismantling the buggers like they are now, then and only then - I'd be scared.

I don't have enough reasons to believe or disbelieve any figures on nuclear arms proliferation or limitation.

I'm looking for evidence in the form of more up to date figures than what I've been able to find...

Of course, the publisher and original source, and some motive behind exaggerating or limiting the scale of the threat, is likely to create an inherent bias.

But, to quote the leader of the free world, "We know they had a weapons program."

Yeah, but you could say that about the guy next door if he only had/has a stick.

Hello - Iraq anyone?

My next door neighbour has a tongue which I have heard causing mass destruction on her lily-livered son.

"United States has fewer than 150 nuclear bombs at 10 air bases in seven NATO countries" That is as at 1999, I guess they are included in the USA stockpile but I don't approve of one in my back yard or my neighbour's.

See this link - nice Cold War and post Cold War summary.
