Yes I meant around the Caribbean, forgive my ignorance to the geography of the region. It was with thoughts for our friend Augustus.

Like you said though it's far too early to predict where it will land.

I posted the thread as a warning to any and all in the region as a heads up to what 'may' be coming their way.
To quote the NHC:

2. It is much too early to determine what direct impacts Irma will
have on the continental United States. Regardless, everyone in
hurricane-prone areas should ensure that they have their hurricane
plan in place, as we are now near the peak of the season.

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 PM AST (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Irma was located
near latitude 18.8 North, longitude 39.1 West. Irma is moving toward
the west near 13 mph (20 km/h). A turn toward the west-southwest
is expected tomorrow.

Maximum sustained winds are near 120 mph (195 km/h) with higher
gusts. Irma is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson
Hurricane Wind Scale. Fluctuations in strength, up or down, are
possible during the next few days, but Irma is expected to remain a
powerful hurricane through the weekend.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles
(165 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 964 mb (28.47 inches).

How far up will it rise? Will it be enough?

What impact does hurricane force winds have on it?

What impact does the rising have on the plumbing and electrical connections?

It looks good on the surface, but unless you plan to float it to some place safe before a storm, I can see the potential for a lot of problems.

Wouldn't it be cool to harvest some of the energy from monster storms...?

Well, now we're supposed to get some rain from Harvey on Sunday. The gift that keeps on giving!
Depending on the track of Irma, we may get lots more.

When I said that I was tired of 24/7 politics on the news channels & wished that they would find something else to talk about, hurricanes weren't what I had in mind!!!

knowing the past about "weather underground" I have my reservations about reading or using a website with the name of a terrorist organization. BTW, I am not taking a swipe at you.

Also, has anyone noticed how fast Irma is strengthening?

Wow. That is a very short sighted opinion.

Wunderground is in my opinion is as good if not better than NOAA at forecasting. Even the Weather Channel uses their forecasts. I particularly like their scientific forecast discussion.

Still way to early to speculate where Irma will go.

For the doom porners out there, yesterday the GFS showed Irma hitting NYC as a major hurricane.

Hello flying Fox... believe it or not wind turbines shut down long before wind speeds reach 100mph. The bearings can't handle the speed. The big blades can't take the stresses.

We recently had the entire state of South Australia go into a black out. At a certain wind speed, the wind turbines will go off line, and feather the big blades so they don't spin up...

So good idea, but they just can't handle the high winds.

I am interested in IRMA only because the Storm (whirlwind on the coasts in Scripture)
also fits well with the Virgo 'Wonders in Heavens as the Rev 12 'Sign' of a pregnant woman/12 star crown/Sun-Moon under her feet sequence which un-folds from 9 September through the 23rd September 2017....


on 9-10 September, at the first Jupiter excursion out of the Virgo 'womb'... the Storm is forecast to be right on top of Washington DC-Alexandria, VA area

as for the 23 September 'vaginal birth' when Jupiter escapes the Virgo womb for good... the projected path is totally obscure from public knowledge


the thing is DC get flattened, the Chesapeke & Baltimore get hammered around the 9th of this month...
I bet the storm goes into a dizzy tailspin from after DC and head back out to Sea to recharge up for a NYC landfall around the 23rs of Sept and also wanders up to Boston from there.... the whole NE corridor of the USA Empire, controlled by the Deep State gets slammed as an outward sign that more & mightier destruction lies ahead for the Fallen USA,

prophecy at work my friends.... let's just see how events unfold before anyone declares a 'I-told-you-so'...too prematurely
