Check out this flare, cropped from a photo taken by Kenneth Edwards:



It's probably larger than our planet Earth.



In fact, the Earth would fit into that gap the flare is arching over.

And keep in mind, our planet Earth would fit comfortably in the gap which that big prominence is arching over.
