Was out earlier testing my DSLR camera with my 500mm and 1000mm lens, using Mylar as my solar filter:

Weather is not being very cooperative however. The view from where I live:





In fact: A LOT of the US is covered in clouds today:



Real bummer! I've been waiting for over 40 years for this......

I'll be posting more pics as I take them. Right now, just a thin part of the sun is covered. I'm in the totality area, so it should be cool.....if the weather cooperates!

I dug out my telescope with my solar lens and my welder's mask yesterday in preparation for today, and poof! my dreams got dashed into the abyss of cosmic curses.

We were partly cloudy/sunny.....till about 20 minutes ago and then a huge thunderstorm rolled in. No way it's going to clear out in time, so we're just screwed.
I have been waiting and waiting for this and now.....&%@*&^%#@&%$^%@!%$ing storms!!

I cooked a Telescope once looking at the sun. Only good part, I salvaged the lens and could burn up ants with it lol

It's about a third covered as of 1256 CDT in South Looziana. It had a nice little rainstorm earlier but the cloud cover dissipated just in time for the show.

Scavenge an oldschool rear projection TV. Inside there's a 4 foot fresnel lens (usually a fresnel covered by a smooth lens facing), three 8" lenses, and three 4" lenses.

That fresnel lens mounted to a frame makes an instant solar incinerator. Good times.

I got blue skies on either side of this huge cloud bank, and that's where the sun is.

Only 30 minutes to go.....sigh.

My wife and I just came back inside. I would show your our pics, but you probably wouldn't like to see them.

We took selfies as we danced naked to "Big Bad Moon" by Joe Satriani while drinking and smoking various adult type stuff.

No pics here, just went out and enjoyed the eclipse with some friends.

Is there a QUICK way to get a pic from my phone to ATS? Caught an interesting UFO.

Clouds in Kansas City. Blah. We got to see totality for about 20 seconds total through some thinner patches.

Like I posted elsewhere. Used welding goggles over my new Canon Rebel.

Here in Nashville I got to see it 100% covered.

I looked at it with my eyes, no glasses.
Everything went very dark almost like nighttime.

Pretty intense....
