The shooter may have been after democrats. No one knows who his targets were only that he asked about party affiliation.

See, I think that the fact that this is turning into a gun issue already speaks volumes about the lack of intellect being displayed by people on all sides of the US political spectrum.

A gun is an inanimate object, it requires someone to pick it up and use their free will to enact violence, in order to pose the kind of threat which was on display in the event being discussed. Taking guns away from well adjusted citizens will do nothing to protect the citizen, nor will it increase the liberty to which they have ready access. Removing the sociopaths and the lunatics from society until such time as they pose no further threat, have had the treatment and the medication they require, have been rendered safe, this has a damned sight better chance of working.

But in order to do that, the US government is going to have to spend billions of dollars every month to house, diagnose and treat the afflicted. That will do a hell of a lot more to keep crap like this to a minimum than taking guns away from everyone at once will. The crazy people will still get them, and the criminals will still get them, and the government will still have them, leaving the only defenceless group in the whole country, the law abiding citizen. That makes very little sense to me, from my perspective looking in from the outside.

I again emphasize that I agree with you that this man does not represent the left as a whole or any other group.

But this thread does scare me. I find ATS to be a place where more reasonable discussions occur than real life.

If we have members here are making these disturbing posts, imagine how many people outside of ATS feel are making arguments like these or worse.

That is what scares me the most.

Does this mean we can finally brand the extreme left as terrorists? Mouth off all you want to, but when that turns into shots fired you crossed the line from activist to terrorist. Protesting, expressing views, etc, no problem. But what we are seeing from the extreme side of the left is more and more violence and less and less talk.

WaPo is more than a newspaper. They are owned by the same man that provides cloud service to all of our Intelligence Agencies.

They "receive" leaks by the "pitcher" of the leaks.

They control the rhetoric, the "news" you get and don't get, the "official story".....you get the picture.

Therefore, can we really be sure that the official name ("confirmed"...yeah, ok.) is actually true? But, because it is the Washington Post, 95% of Americans will believe this is really the man, really his name, really this and really that.
