It's really up there dude along with a whole bunch of other junk. The satellites that can be seen snaking and weaving through the sky are what baffles me though.

I've never seen one snake and weave, those must be Russian.

No, no, no. The ones snaking and weaving are the holograms.

This seems like as good a place as any to start.

that the ISS is 100% a hoax and fraud

While, as you may learn, I believe some "out there" stuff, this is comical.

I have this APP that shows its location in orbit, and when it is visible in the sky. Seems like it's up there to me.

If you analyze the motion vis a vis the apparent magnitude, coupled with distortion and time of transit, you can get an estimation of speed at approx 17,500 mph, or the velocity in which an object "falls" around the earth.

Keep questioning, though.

sigh - we do not " see " the ISS with MKI eyeball observations - we see the sunlight reflected of iits power generation panels - this iis an imortant distinction

here is a vid on " survival mirrors " - it brillianly demonstrates that a palm sized mirror can signal over great distances [ upto 40 miles - but the 11 mile test is the best ] - watch the vd and realise - that you an a freind can repeat this experment

further - with some relatiivly basic equiment [ £100 astronomy telescope ] 2 people - who can position themselves over 50 km apart [ the greater the distance - the easier iit is to reduce operator and equipment errors ] - can calculate the altitude of the ISS - using simeltaneous sightings and basic trigonometry

so yes - the ISS can be demonstrated to be at the altitude that NASA claims iit is

Another instance where the lies told by the governments (to cover up whatever the truth is behind UFOs, for instance... or, less speculatively, CIA drug sales to it's own citizens or their total, illegal surveillance of everyone) has percolated down through the populace helping to create a post truth world.

Governments and career politicians keeping secrets from the governed, especially in a society that is supposed to govern itself, makes a "free society" impossible... and it also brings stratification, resentment, paranoia and a tendency to believe everything "official" is a lie.

These lies gets folks like the T man elected, too... and has people question 3rd grade science... and will only degenerate further until the truth is told.

Some conspiracy theories are not theories, anymore... they are truth.

BUT this one? Nnnnnaaaaaahhhhhhh.

Did you watch the video, or are you too intelligent for alternative points of view

No. Most of us are just too intelligence for YOUR point of view.

Well you do have to give the video makers credit, they can be quite clever. Take for instance the flat earth videos, they are entertaining and at a couple points they gave me pause for thought. Not that I thought the earth was flat, but just that I became aware I took for granted some things that I thought I could explain better than I actually could. The following is a screenshot, and happily enough I didn't have to google to have this one figured out. Without googling, can you say what is wrong with the picture they present? This one held back to I think grade 7 science, but you'd be surprised how many people will fail to be able to explain it. Not saying you can't, just that sometimes they are clever at the deceptions.

There is one way to find out, don't think anyone posted this yet, but here's a Real time plot of the ISS.

www.isstracker.com...

At 2:29AM Eastern Standard Time 6/5/17, it's over Indonesia, coming up on the Philippines, can someone stick their head out a window and see if it's there?

I see you've skipped most of the tough questions in your thread. When you go outside, and you view this for yourself.
iss.astroviewer.net...

What it is you think you are seeing? And do you really believe that VR could work like that?
Perhaps you could project a big pile of money for me, please put it in my account. (it must work just like that right?)

I'm not trying to bolster the OP's point of view, but we're at a stage in our existence where it's incredibly difficult to tell what is real and what is CGI in a movie

I feel this trailer is apt to prove a point considering it's based within the ISS

Can you honestly tell me, apart from the satellite capture scene, what was real and what was CGI, I know I can't and it's worrying because the line between reality and virtual can be so easily blurred

No.. my brain hurts from such stupid logic put forward by people with clearly no concept of science. Hell, I don't claim to be that smart but even I can see that diagram/picture is wrong.

As for the ISS. Simple solution -- get a telescope. Look at the ISS as it orbits the Earth in real time.

Or wait -- is the sky a digital display! :O

Dun-dun-DUNNNNNN

Quite the closed minded attitude. Why are you on a website like this if you are not willing to openly question what you have been trained to believe in government sponsored "schools"?

Do you have a valid point to make? Critical thinking can see through false claims, whoever makes them. You are the one with the closed mind.

The earth will not face the same direction in relation to the sun every 24 hours because :
-the 23.5 degree tilt
-one 24hr rotation represents about 1 degree shift in the solar orbit (360 degress in 365 days)
-the solar year actually encompasses 365.25 rotations

For an answer, consider:

What is the definition of "noon".

What is the length of time for the Earth to rotate once on it's axis.

Yes. And this last point would be the main point.

That graphic defined a year as one revolution around the Sun. However, in reality we define a year as 365 full rotations of the Earth.

And a week as 7 full rotations,
And a month as 30, 31, or 28/29 full rotations.

So no matter how many days or weeks or months we are talking, we are always talking about a full rotation or multiples of a full rotation. Therefore, Noon will still always be during the day.

Edit to add:
I was just adding the last paragraph above at the same time that 'roadgravel' was writing his post below.

Given the definition of "noon", how could the Earth not be facing the sun at noon.

Wait -- YOU are the one blindly believing a guy on YouTube giving misinformed or (maybe even intentionally misleading) information about videos filmed aboard the ISS without actually you dissecting what that YouTube guy is actually saying,

and YOU are the one using poor knowledge of reflections and optics to claim that the ISS should would not be able to be seen from the ground,

and YOU are the one who in general who is not bothering to use critical thinking in order to provide an explanation to a question, but instead just parroting claims of fakery posed by others, and you are not trying to provide evidence to rebut our claims, but instead try to obfuscate the issue by just waving your hand over our claims by saying "but...but the government lies" (which may be true, but is not always the answer to everything)

...But YOU are the one calling US closed minded?
Really?......Really?

Our Earth day, measured by noon, is longer then the star day, one rotation of Earth in relation to the position of stars.

Hanging out on ATS every day and consuming all the contents will after a while take its toll on your common senses. I suggest stepping back a bit for a while, you'll most likely come back with fresh eyes.

It's the same with f.ex. art, music, mathematic problems etc.

Simply put, i get the impression that the whole conspiracy field has consumed you. Just think of all the stars that are visible thousands of lightyears away. Why is that?
