I'm not really sure what that means but I bet their colors will reflect the colors of their establishment. Red seems to be the common color amongst them all.

I think their attire and business model is evolving to become more attractive to certain demographics.

They followed the coffee/iced coffee trends after Starbucks became popular and have been offering more healthier menu items.

This "evolution" is not about dystopian social engineering. It's about appealing to the millennials and trends that have become popular.

If I had to wear a uniform I wouldn't mind that. There are worse looking uniforms that are simply humiliating.

We all wear uniforms.
Even anarchists wear their anarchist appropriate attire when they go out to be anarchists.

I refuse to wear khakis in a business casual khaki workplace world.
So, take that anarchists.

Now If Only they Could Make their Crappy Food Look and Taste Better..........Sigh .

Well, I don't know what they call it, "Food Modeling"? But anyhow, when I see those commercials that turn me into a zombie to go out and buy that delicious looking burger and get it home and open the box? I snap right out of my trance and say, "WTF is this?"!

Why the need for a kiosk or a local McDonalds if you can cook for yourself?

I think its simply a marketing tool to lead the focus of your visit to what's being offered in color and lessen the focus on the "help".

Quite possibly as McDonald's transitions to an automated system, they may use this color scheme to psychologically "prep" visitors to see the employees as unimportant to the overall experience. That way if and when they do go into full automation, the transition has less of an impact.

McDonald's patrons, if they even care in the first place, won't regard the switch as corporate greed and unfair.

It can be quite diabolical if you think about it! Lol.

Fair enough. Can't compete with that.

Not a very good comparison.

I can prepare a meal and eat it myself. A letter requires another individual to be involved.

Unless I write that letter and send it to myself, which makes no sense.

How many freeway miles are driven on McDonald's coffee? I'm now on a 4500 mile road trip. I stop at McDonald's every day for coffee and clean restrooms. They rarely disappoint.

They are simply following the trend of modern bistro-style server attire.

And restaurants, if you want to call McDonalds a restaurant, have always been "social environments", but to say this is 1984-ish is simply nutty.

Agreed.

This was my first thought as well. They're going for a more 'professional' look for their 'chefs' (aka food prep.)

It's to make McDonald's seem more like a legit restaurant than a drive-thru heart attack on a bun.

Someone already beat me to the punch, but... The look like some "futuristic" space uniform to me. Like something out of star wars or some special branch of star fleet. I'm sure the designer never intended a dystopian look. That'd be bad for business.

Arbeit Macht Frei.
This phrase was used at the Auschwitz entrance.
It is an "anti slogan" in civilized countries.

I'm still mad at McDonalds for getting rid of hot mustard for mcnuggets.
Hot mustard was the only sauce that could get me to eat mcnuggets.

I miss it.

I want a 20 pack of mcnuggets with a bigly-ass tub of hot mustard.
And I want it right now.
