My "opinions" on this topic formed during the decades in which all healthcare professionals supported that it is a mental disorder, you remember? Basically all of psychology medicine history prior to about a decade ago when the topic started to be discussed for removal from the DSM not because of any new science, but rather because "transgenders were facing discrimination and stigma" because of the mental illness diagnosis. They change was made in absence of science, based on emotions and feels, and the medical community has been spit balling for a desperate piece of scientific data to support the change ever since. For the record, the above is well documented in last year's WHO debate over reclassify ingredients this psychological illness.

When I say "politics" I'm referring to the act of petitioning for changes to take place under pressure of numbers rather than logic.

In your OP the studies were nto done, but they have evidence to back up their claims. its you who refuse to accept it because of a dislike of them it seems.

The studies cited weren't done before the change, nor do they consist of much more than "mays," "mights, " and "coulds." My prior sentiments stand and are backed by decades of what was long held as proven science until emotional pablum interjected itself into the picture and shifted the focus away from biological facts into "sufferer's feels."

There are 2 issues here which, for some reason you are combining. They are distinctly separate.

- the science which has been evolving steadily since the early 90s

- trans-activists fighting for equality

I am still waiting, with interest, for the sources to your earlier claims.

Let's try this another way.

I live in the UK. Some links from Professional Bodies:

The British Psychological Society: Guidelines and Literature Review for Psychologists Working Therapeutically with Sexual and Gender Minority Clients

The Royal College of Psychiatrists: Good practice guidelines for the assessment and treatment of adults with gender dysphoria

The above professional panels are expert practitioners.

1. Do you seriously believe these experts can be hoodwinked and co-coerced by trans-activists?

2. You have an anonymous entity with rigid unsubstantiated views on a internet forum compared to evidence-based science and expert professional bodies. Who would you believe? Who carries the most validity?

Science changes. if you refuse to accept it you are a caveman.

Wow, reading that really made me realise for the first time that a sex change from male to female requires a testicle-ectamy

That thought gives me pains in places and makes me feel mighty uncomfortable.
That takes some real commitment

I look at it this way.... Women must compete against men in the workforce as they have asked and fought for that right, so there isn't any different if they have to compete against men / women want-a-be's in the sports world as well.

There is nothing wrong with being competitive. Competitiveness does see itself as a race or a gender.

Merge all sport together and lets see what happens. I'd love to see WNBA teams play with or against NBA teams. Also, it's probably fair to change NBA to MNBA. M(Male) lol

They are fair and accurate as they currently are. They have no rule that specifies that you must be male to play, so there is no need to add "male" to the league name.

This is the thing with modern times. No matter the facts, no matter the science, no matter the reality, you'll never win this debate or open peoples eyes because they will only accept their politically correct world view that suits them.
Logic be damned.

Sadly OP you're preaching to the choir. Any thing else is sadly giving peeps the fuel they seek to get all self righteous so they can feel smug. They will always be right no matter what you say.

It's not just gender and sexuality, it applies to all forms of extremism in life like politics, religion etc.

Common sense and critical thinking is dead in many. It's all about the feels and self back patting these days.

Just because medical science is capable of doing some things, doesn't mean they should.

Who are we defending?
Most Women want this. In a world where only men opinions matters this foolery would not exist. The fastest way to change women's minds is too let them have it full bore.
This does not effect men, let women have this one play out to its logical conclusion. Let them own it.

Yes, I kind of raised my eyebrows on that too.

My opinion is that this issue is being pushed to hype up conservatives. It is not that widespread of an issue. As a liberal person, I personally do not care what others do.

And if memory serves, Opie's "story" came from World Net Daily? EYE ROLL

Hi, I did not compare him to doctors. I compared his unsubstantiated claims to professional panels' endorsed advisories in the UK. I do understand what you are saying though.

I have sent you a U2U.

Chop off your penis and you have earned the right to compete against bio-women, use the girls bathroom and be considered a female. Until then, you're just a male cross-dresser a la Bruce Jenner

There is no difference between men and women. Saying that men are stronger than women, on average, is disgusting and sexist. Some women have penises. Some men give birth.

I guess this is the catch 22 with the whole push on blending the sexes. If women are physically equal to men, this shouldn't bother any feminists. Now that trans men are allowed to compete against women in the olympics and other sporting events, we are now going to see more and more gold medal winning women that used to be men.

In the name of being as "progressive" as possible, they are actually holding down biological women. I think it's funny.

What do we call an intersectional feminist that is campaigning for "women that used to be men"'s rights?

Transmeninfists? I don't know, I will keep working on it.
