The entire article in the OP is a hit piece.

The things they say about Hannity are so over the top that it is obvious that CNN is freaking out, and looking for anything to hit him with.

I know when people I know are passing a gun around to look at, etc. as they first pick up the gun, and again before they pass it, check the gun for ammo, check the chamber, and say "clear", before passing it. Then the person they pass it to again checks for ammo, check the chamber, and again say "clear". So, everyone is certain that there will be no accidents.

While everything you said is true the first rule of guns is that every gun is always loaded. If Hannity did this he's a bad example period. There is no excuse for it.

Anonymous sources have no inherent credibility of their own. It's the credibility of the reporter that one should first consider. Beyond that, it's worth noting (and I did) that the fact that the incident happened was confirmed by the statements CNN obtained from Hannity, Williams and Fox News. So it seems that at the very least, this can't have been and out and out fabrication.

So it's the details that are in question.

If the statements are untrue and Hannity, Williams or Fox News feel that they have been defamed, I'm sure they all have access to expensive lawyers who would be more than happy to bring a libel suit against CNN.

(Hannity was just showing off, the sources said, but the unforeseen off-camera antic clearly disturbed Williams and others on set.)

You break all the rules if you point a gun. If that was done, it was an idiot in charge. However, many people questioned the Boston search where the military pointed guns at people's windows routinely as they drove by.
