If you really want to see if the moon is a sphere, get a telescope, or even some good binoculars. You can see from the way that shadows cast in craters and by mountains, and by the way that those shadows change with time, that it is a sphere.

As for tidal locking. i did this gif to show that the moon rotates. The moon in the bottom right hand corner is the same one orbiting Earth:

Recently Ive heard mainstream scientists say that we dont really understand 'gravity' and that some sort of electromagnetic force is more likely. They were also reviewing the 'ether' theory that we binned ages ago, but that left us looking for 'dark matter' that we cant find and is needed for other theories to make sense.

BTW: Didnt Eratoshenes show the earths shape by his holes in the ground experiment ?
I watched Carl Sagan on that and Im pretty sure he was no slouch in these things...

No, in particular since the two behave quite differently. While the idea that the four forces can somehow be united has been around for a while, no one has managed to come up with a way to demonstrate it.

The shape of the world was known. What Eratosthenes did was calculate its circumference by measuring the angle of sunlight at two locations. Simply. Elegantly.

i can draw a moon on a piece of paper that looks 3D and sphere from a distance but it doesn't make it so

can the OP or any other " flat mooner " give a COHERENT explaination of the phases of the moon ?

the spheroid moon explaination nails this - and can be verified with one torch - one dark room and one basket ball

so - whats the " flat moon " explaination for its phases ?

I think you're fairly safe in assuming that the pictures showing a spheroid-earth from ISS are actually showing what is really there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the moon been orbited and photographed 'in the round' (NPI) several times, including by the former Soviet Union?

Even if you believe that the moon landings were faked in a studio (and I do not), there's no reason to suppose that the two rival superpowers would have conspired to mislead the world into believing that the moon is round when it's actually flat.

Right, it's more like a pear, or is it a deflated beach ball? Or maybe it's more like an ellipse.. wait.. NASA's pictures show us a perfect circle. Well at least science can agree on the shape of the earth.

yes - in ALL photographs the earth appears to be a perfect sphere

thats because the maximum diameter [ equitorial ] = 12756 KM its minimum [ polar ] diameter = 12713 KM

that means that in an image that will fit [ whole ] on a computer screen - the diference = < 1mm

and you wonder why you cannot see the difference ?

I like you like to look into every subject on my own. I like thinkers and those who look deeper. I have not looked into the flat earth but have read a couple of things. I was wondering how do Flat Earth believers account for orbiting satellites we can see passing overhead and such?

Is is interesting that we can see the moon many times in the day so what are the dark side Earthers seeing, no moon during their night at that point?

Probably the best argument against a flat earth is the edges, why do people not witness any running into the side like The Truman Show.
