No, in particular since the two behave quite differently. While the idea that the four forces can somehow be united has been around for a while, no one has managed to come up with a way to demonstrate it.

The shape of the world was known. What Eratosthenes did was calculate its circumference by measuring the angle of sunlight at two locations. Simply. Elegantly.
BTW: Didnt Eratoshenes show the earths shape by his holes in the ground experiment

And you would be wrong to say both of those. Neither is a *perfect* sphere, but for all intents and purposes, they're pretty damn close.
