He would be nothing but a punching bag for their vile and venemous humor.

That's sort of the point of the WHCD. The president usually mocks himself as well as part of the event.

Good for him! He is about business and knows he is not a comedian. Somebody should have told former President Obama he wasn't a comedian either...then maybe he (former President Obama) wouldn't have made fun of then Mr. Trump at such a dinner, for which now President Trump got the last laugh...without cracking a single joke. As an aside, it's about time someone let the "White House" correspondents know they aren't anything special...

For supposedly being against the rich and powerful, liberals sure do love to support the rich and powerful. I guess if you are rich and powerful in government or the media (those who hold the most power over us) it's ok, only those who own businesses and actually produce things of value to the American people are evil. Twisted doesn't even begin to describe it.

WORD!

Meh...it is what it is. Couldn't really care less. It's just a typical DC get-together. It's tradition for the president to get "roasted" at these dinners. Wonder if that bothered him a bit. He doesn't take criticism well.

he was already roasted at one of these when he was a guest... why would anyone go when they are supposed to be the main course.

yeah.
who needs fundraiser for scholarships?

screw that bull#

I think a better question is, why do the wealthy and powerful need to be enticed into giving by giving them face time at events for the elite? The scholarships are an excuse, not the real goal. Were the scholarships the true reason, they would just mail in their checks. They are there for purely narcissistic reasons. LOOK AT ME! LOOK WHERE I AM!

It must really gall people who didn't vote for Trump. Better still, he's started excluding certain Fake News services from WH Press Conferences.

Trump's going to take the MSM to it's knees and hold a chicken leg out to them ... a la Killer Joe.

Why should he ? The Last one he Attended , all that Happened was Personal Insults by Every A Hole in the Room Including Obamanation . I Commend him for this Decision , he is the Duly Elected President Of The United States , and should be Shown the RESPECT for the Office by EVERY American in this Country .

So very true! The POTUS should always protect the dignity of the office.

Why would someone run for president if they are concerned about being the "main course"?

Cherished liberal icon, Jimmy Carter, declined to go to the Correspondents' Dinner in 1978.

So, what are you saying, "special needs" individuals are less than non-special needs people? So in order to bash Trump, you are willing to trash those of special needs. Real classy of you. Why not just criticize his policies without name calling?

never said I thought he had thick skin... but if what I heard was correct the one where he got roasted he ended up being the main course with even Obama taking pot shots at him, so I expect he never intended to go after the treatment he received before.

I know I wouldnt...heck some people think the heckling he received there is the reason he ran, just to prove them wrong.

You are exactly right.

President Trump has probably given his fair share of scholarship money over the years and will probably continue to do it.

It's all about the dress with these events....and the camera....and who you can be seen with....blah blah blah.

And this year it will be about the most vicious nasty hateful rhetoric you will ever hear.

Why should the man The American People elected to lead us out of the messes we are in be subjected to lefty looney bullspit. He can send a check without the hassle. Let them have their fun, pat themselves on the back for saying something vile, laugh it up, and drink it up.

Tomorrow, when it's over, Donald J. Trump is still THE WINNER!!!!!!

He should hold a rally instead.

Then the networks won't even cover the Correspondent's dinner.
