It just doesn't sound like a regular 4Chan type of hoax though. Its not how the mods behave, the reactions to the image were made stranger by the site immediately going down. Nothing then left for anyone to see. It does sound like they were trying to get a handle on what they were dealing with. It could be some form of weapon that was developed and quickly tested and it probably could come in the form of any image. There are a lot of things it may in fact be, but a hoax seems less likely to me. Most regular users thought the bannings and the scrubbing was highly unusual. If it was a hoax, you would think it would last longer then 40 to 50 seconds and more people would have been left reacting to it rather then banning everyone and scrubbing so many pages associated with it. Right now to me, the whole thing is a mystery.

Is that photo one of those animated GIF's? He blinks every so often. Weird.

I actually agree. The "hoax" was contained to 4chan. Sure after the fact lots of people started trolling the /x/ board for fun..but you are correct...something did go down which was highly suspect.

I'm just acknowledging that the water got very muddy very quickly, so obviously pranksters are working on this too, it's only to be expected..but the initial flood of reconstructed images, was certainly more than just messing around IMO. Usually memes are thrown togeather and look like it but some effort was put into this shilling.

This is why I love ATS and all the great people that post on here. Its been a fun few days breaking away from all the political drama.

I had my hopes that this would have been the real thing and partially feel that it might in some way. Yet I will not say that it was a disappointment because the ride from day one was fun and entertaining. Enough to bring me back out from the depths of lurkville down lurk lane.

Now lets see what else can be obtained in the coming days. I'm really liking the direction the thread is taking on finding out more on the alleged location of the picture. Perhaps we can look into more unique occurrences throughout the life of that base? Like has there been other unique events with stellar visitors in or around that base or location?

Wasn't it 4chan where Cicada 3301 first dropped? My hunch on that was it was probably some Intel agency behind that. So we know things do happen there that are not just "hoaxes" etc. Its just that there are a lot of hoaxes and larping etc. You are right about the muddying of the waters early on. The way this was handled sounds like the site tried to cope with what happened and literally went into a bit of a panic mode swatting all potential "threats" by scrubbing things associated with it.

I don't think there is much we can do at this point unless a breakthrough occurs.

Please don't remind me of that movie. I've seen it as a kid and it was confusing as hell.

I still don't get how a picture could make you feel ill though. It was stated that the pic was only visible for 30-45 seconds before it got deleted. The immediate negative reaction puzzles me a bit. Has anyone of you a somewhat plausible explanation for that? Was it spirtitual, magic, demonic or something based on real science? I'm only speculating of course. It's fascinating stuff.

If it really happened, and I'd like to hear from a witness, it could be a reaction to the REALITY of it or in other words, the sheer fact of it's authenticity - kind of like shock, because of the magnitude of the paradigm shift involved.

If people were made sick to look at it, that's what I think it could be - shock, which could produce nausea, vomiting and maybe even diarrhea..

Has anyone mentioned the fact that the trailer for Phoenix Forgotten debuted right about the same time?

It doesn't seem like an ARG, but maybe just some kind of publicity stunt?

Trailer here...

In the lower left can clearly be seen the protruding neck of a guitar. Kind of looks like people sitting in folding camp chairs outside at night though the yellow/green bit I can't figure.

If I was in some government agency that had knowledge and dealings with EBEs then I would have ordered many contingency plans if part of my job was keeping them a secret. One obvious such strategy in the age of the internet would be to have a number of obvious but still well-made mock-ups manufactured that could be quickly photographed and rolled out should someone capture a picture of the real thing. Flood the internet and media with the fakes while using the backdoors in all the consumer tech to sweep up the real deal.

We are all so jaded to the power of digital photo manipulation that should a real picture of an EBE actually surface we would probably all laugh it off as an obvious amateur attempt to hoax the public.

I thought the X-files alien was digital fakery until I read the making-of feature someone posted with the production photos showing it's actually someone in a costume.

There is something bugging me about this CGI model..for a hoax.

1. The initial flooding of 4chan with alledged mock ups and obvious fakes. Yes people jump on bandwagons and it only takes one person with a bit of talent to knock out several fakes with the right software..and one guy was likely behind much of them.
And that's all consistent with a hoax, until you look at the mods behaviour with the banning of users and burning threads...

2. The time limits on bans coincided with the final reveal of the CGI model. If it's a hoaxer why bother revealing the hoax? Isn't the idea to leave people guessing forever...? It's like there was supposed to be a 3 day window on this thing. That's why it also looks like a cover for something. The reveal is like, "look it's a hoax. The game is over, carry on as usual now and forget about it".

3. The CGI model, looked to me like an actual rubber model but that's CGI..or is it? I know years ago everything looked like Toy Story but renders are far more realistic these days..Of corse maybe the "hoaxer" just isn't that great at making realistic images? But if that's the case, why add what looks like chipped paintwork beneath the neck and around the mouth? In short the final version is supposed to look fake. But I don't think it's to make us all think "oh there must be an actual real one still out there" because again this whole event was really supposed to stay within the walls of 4chan and last 3 days.

Thoughts. I'm still thinking it was being used as a cover for something.

Edit, still nothing new under the rug. I found a cache version of a thread but not the original thread from what I am reading.

can someone PM me the original thread at 4chan the one that started this mess?

This is the full render I'm seeing. I say render because it's pretty obvious that this is a cgi.

I still think this is a psyops to distract from the plane pic that was posted then scrubbed during the outage.

The sad thing is that we will never know, unless the person who did the original upload is willing to upload again. There might be someone who sits on the original picture (or whatever it is) without knowing it yet. I have a hard time believing the claims about the picture got automatically deleted from drives etc., of course that is a claim that is hard to back up (unless digital traces were left on the drives).

Finally got my image to upload

Compare this eye to the final version..it's different. It looks more plausible as an actual real eye. The final render looks like a cartoon character.

So far I'm calling this eye and the nose highly interesting

And this

What are all these black dots? They ain't on the final render..and on the inner circled portion within the larger section I outlined. This looks like actual scales..not the big chunky bits on the final render
