The privatizing of the prisons in the US started back in the 80s now they are one of the largest lobbying body in the US and the inmate population had almost triple since they took over and spend more than 25 million in campaign money to both parties..

But let me tell you they are actually in bed with most political candidates.

Is not going to be easy to take away their corrupted role in the prison system in the nation right now.

Is this a topic we all can actually agree on?

Cool...

Justice is not meant to be served by a government system that is contractually-obligation to fulfill prison quotas, if that is part of the contract they have.

Prison facilities should meet the need, not create the need.

Yes, we agree. A miracle happened. Can we all gather around and sing Kumbaya now?

Count me in as making a list and checking it twice too. I worked for awhile in privatized community corrections. Not so sure I agree with an above poster that privatization means less corruption.

Hopefully, they'll rethink some of this.

I don't like private prisons and I don't like criminalizing cannabis.

These are two poor decisions by Sessions.

I don't agree with this or the MJ law.

Remember when the left said the right would just blindly accept everything?

There's a big difference in real concerns with a real issue, compared to insignificant things blown out of proportion.

Take heed lefties.

I have my hopes that the Trump admin is "testing the waters" so to speak with this and the crackdown on states that voted to legalize cannabis.

Time will tell.

Only if I get to play the guitar.

Most people mess it up.

Deal. As long as I get to be on drums.... even tho they aren't normally used. I mean, they are bongos, but still drums...

Because this isn't a left or right issue, most people will and should agree with all of us on these 2 issues. It's common sense.

If these 2 laws pass, it will be the first REAL tarnish on the Trump administration. Not all the other 1000 insignificant things you guys try to bring up on a daily basis.

Like we always said, Trump isn't perfect and nobody expected a flawless presidency. But let see what happens.

Otherwise it's boring.

It's just another thing to throw on the Trump pile for me. But I'm glad most people aren't blindly supporting this.

I have hope for all of us now.

It is nice to see that people on both the Left and Right can agree this is bad.

Maybe we can find more common ground in the future?

If we do I hope it'll be about something positive, and not something negative the Trump admin does.

That's the thing, we aren't blind like many of you wish to believe. There's a big difference between both sides but I'm not going to get into it and ruin the kumbuya thread lol.

See now that's what I'm waiting for. The left praising something Trump does..

When that happens, then we can find real common grounds and hold hands around the fire.

I'm all for unity. But, right now I stand to be personally affected by both of these revelations that came out of the Trump camp today.

If the Trump admin puts me out of work and tries to lock me in prison for something I was legally doing yesterday, all bets are off. I won't be able to see this administration as nothing more than an enemy after that.

And I'm probably not the only one.
