no one is asking you to feel guilty for being white, or whatever you may be. i don't encounter racism in the every day world but when i come on here i can't help but think there are a lot of closet in denial racists on here. people can hide behind their avatars and spew some really nasty stuff on here, same goes for the nasty comments seen on youtube etc etc.

There is absolutely an agenda to make white people feel guilty about their past, the supposed privilege they are blessed with and their apparent inherent racism towards non-whites. If you refuse to see these things due to your own biases then I cannot help you.

Perceived anonymity gives people a sense of non-accountability. Racists, trolls and bigots are prevalent in all types of groups, not just white people.

what are you going on about projecting my internal problems? i have a well paying career, i have a beautiful house, wife and kids, never took a handout in my life, never blamed racism for any "internal problems"

My reply was directed at certain minority groups as a collective, not you. Why would I say such things about you in particular when I don't know anything about you in RL?

i am merely acknowledging the ugly role racism has unfortunately had in this country we can acknowledge that it was terrible and move on or we can live in denial, which scenario do you think is healthier? we can also acknowledge that people of all colors can be accused of racism and that it has no place in todays society.

The number of people who deny that racism was an ugly part of history is very minuscule. And it's important to remember history so that we do not repeat the mistakes of the past.

However, how can we move on from the past and embrace the present when negative aspects of history are continually brought forth to explain current negative aspects of today?

It doesn't make sense.

Absolutely. It was accepted with contempt and only by force of law. In many cases Federal law when local law fell short.

Recently, those that are racist or simply insecure in themselves, they NEED, they must have, someone to discriminate against (helped along by Trump) have come out of the shadows again.

I just want to beat them back with a baseball bat, but they should go back into the shadows on their own.

To slither with the low things, in the dark, where they belong.

I heard the left arguing against deporting illegals as they have them to do their gardening and such, sounds to me more like the left wanting their slaves not the right.

Funny how many people with brown skin who were able to see through the lefts BS and voted Trump, you know like the rest of the intelligent human beings.

You tell em Big Joe!

Let's not forget that the word "racist" carries strong negative connotations about somebody's character. It has the power to influence the way other people (who have not even met you) might see you.

What right have people to pass judgements on anyone they have never met

How much credence do you put on a person and their opinion of someone who

passes judgement's on someone they do not know?

Why would I even care what some random person thinks about me?

This has nothing to do with "seeking approval". It has to do with protecting one's character and reputation from unjust labels that can influence how others see that person.

The only people who's opinions I care about aren't going to be influenced

by random other peoples opinions/views on me.

Edit: If somebody were to call you a "hooker", or a "gold-digger", or a "sexual deviant" without having evidence of these labels in a public context, would you just "not let it get to you" because there is no truth to their claims?

Quite. I dont see the problem. I am comfortable in my own skin.

When I was younger many people were surprised after meeting me

to find out I was not *easy* (an old fashioned term) that they had

been led to believe I would be!!!

The simple fact is that in the USA the white race has killed maimed and injured more dark skinned peopled than Dark skinned people have done to whites. That is a historical fact.

A historical fact that has zero relevance for the topic at hand.

Therefore, one must ask: why bring forth such a fact if it has nothing to do with the topic? Well, it seems like attempted deflection, misdirection and guilting.

originally posted by: conspiracy nut
do not go around here spouting historical facts, you are going to trigger half of ATS. get over it, it happened a long time ago there is no more racism, all minorities have no excuse for not making it in this country. if there is racism its because obama created it. oh i was wrong there is an acceptable excuse, illegals, they are taking your jobs, your benefits and food out of your babies mouths not to mention raping your women and playing their music loud. their out of control children walk all over your lawns etc etc.*sarcasm*

Historical facts that have no relevance to the topic at hand won't trigger anybody.

Living in the past doesn't solve racism. Finger pointing, attempted guilting and projecting your internal problems onto an external enemy while denying personal responsibility does not solve racism.

How about you extend your attention span to read the rest of my contribution. Or did you read and not understand. Is 1965 a long time ago?

How come we have veterans day? Thanksgiving etc? They all happened a long time ago. What about Xmas/

These also all reflect bygone days.

Bigotry is Colorblind , it Exists in All Cultures , but it seems Caucasian Bigotry is somehow More Important to Talk About when it comes from those with a Secret Political Agenda .

Hmm. Well, it seems there has been a misunderstanding. Why are you asking me if 1965 is along time ago? Did I say that we should ignore the past or pretend it doesn't exist?

How come we have veterans day? Thanksgiving etc? They all happened a long time ago. What about Xmas/

Again, why are you asking me these questions? Did I somewhere imply that we should forget about the past?

These also all reflect bygone days.

"What right have people to pass judgements on anyone they have never met "

about this statement...

You can learn alot about someones posting habits and content on a message board. In fact, people are more real and open up more on anonymous forums.

(if you are into psychological studies, its perfect)

So your saying it was Hillary`s platform of sending back the illegals and building a wall to keep them a bay, you know the lefties the ones who`s new fragrance is pepper spray.

Actually in sending back the lefties illegal gardeners will open up jobs for the welfare bludging people that continually protest or shut down traffic.

its a win win situation.

Some people, yes.

Others take on a persona (like a professional actor might take on a character) and get so entrenched in it (the role) that they begin to think and express themselves in character whenever they hop on to that forum. It acts as a vehicle for them to express themselves through an alternative perspective. Of course, a portion of these others also do so for nefarious reasons such as to troll, deceive or take advantage of others.

I understand, boys can act like girls, lefties like righties...

it is true, you never really know what your getting...thats the downfall

but for the most part, its a place where people can let down their guard and be themselves. I like that about forum boards.

Hey! I'm just chatting and passing a few opinions in passing, on a message

board filling in time. The same as I would do meeting someone casually in a

bar, cafe, queue etc...exchanging views .. keeping my mind active and staving

off alzheimers.
Nothing heavy.

Why would I want to learn more about anonymous people? I'm only exchanging

views in what I hope is a reasonable and pleasant manner. And funnily enough I

have picked up some knowledge along the way

Irony of Ironies here a black man attacking political correctness How would he feel if someone called him a big fat "Ni***r? The Anti PC brigade demands the right to call people any kind of racial epithet they see fit. What happened to politeness and decency I ask myself.

For his pro trump rhetoric he too invokes the racism of planned parenthood. I do not hear anyone denouncing that . So when is it correct to mention the past. Planned parenthood is still with us by the way.

I love the Simpsons but did anyone notice how racist they were to Irish people? Is this right IMHO no. I also know that historically there was a time when the Irish were not even classed as white.

From what Ive read in history books (books for pleasure not school), the Irish was sort of looked down upon like the Mexicans are now.
