You can't always get what you want.

But brothers, sometimes you get what you need.

Need help with understanding this... The Obama Administration said that Male and Female students had to use the Bathrooms and Locker Rooms that matched their gender. Why was that ruling a "protection"? It's been that way for centuries.

According to the below article, the Trump Administration is planning some changes. Perhaps changes that are more in line with the comments he made in April of 2016? ATS Thread on Candidate Trump's position: www.abovetopsecret.com...

ARTICLE FROM TODAY's WASHINGTON POST:

"The Trump administration plans to roll back protections for transgender students and is preparing changes to federal guidance that required the nation’s public schools to allow students to use the bathrooms and locker rooms that matched their gender identities.

A White House spokesman said Tuesday that the Education and Justice departments would soon issue new guidance on the matter. He hinted that it would be different from the Obama administration’s position, which was that denying transgender students the right to use the bathroom of their choice violates federal prohibitions against sex discrimination.

“I think that all you have to do is look at what the president’s view has been for a long time, that this is not something that the federal government should be involved in, this is a states’ rights issue,” spokesman Sean Spicer told reporters at a daily media briefing Tuesday afternoon 2.21.2017"

The answer is the difference between biological birth gender and "gender identity" which means whatever gender a person identifies with regardless of physical apparatus.

There is a female in the news today that identifies with a cat...seriously. So what are we as a people suppose to do get kitty litter box for all bathrooms...or maybe we should get her some mental help. Seriously people. Just use the bathroom of your birth gender. Unless you have had an actual SEX CHANGE, physically changed your organs...let stop this. I do not want my daughter or son to see the opposite sex organs until such time as he or she sees then privately. I like most people we all go into the bathroom and shut the door so that we will not be seen, why is it that I should have to see everyone's private parts just to be in public. In Colorado a judge ruled yesterday female nipples can be seen, so now when you go out in public you have to look at some boobs fully exposed in other words shirtless. STOP and think what are we doing in this country. Really, should we let everyone walk around naked and be done with it. And then you can behold it all in front of yourself, just think poop, blood and piss and all rolling down the legs. COME lets get real. It's not about whether you are gay or whatever, this is about being decent. Do you walk around your house with it all hanging out for your family to see. NO YOU DONT !

And this has what to do with transgender children exactly? Seriously.

And what of the man that has lost his external genitalia to injury or disease? Women's restroom?

People are more than just what is between their legs.

I do not want my daughter or son to see the opposite sex organs until such time as he or she sees then privately.

Yes, the human body is such a vile and disgusting thing. By all means we shouldn't let the children know that males and females aren't built quite the same way. It could be too confusing.

If you are seeing other people's private parts in a bathroom, then you're peeping and I call that being a perv. There are also plenty of existing laws for that.

COME lets get real.

Can we please? That would be good.

Wait, so at my local gym, these old guys regularly put one leg up on the sink and blow dry their balls. If I see that, I'm the perv?

What nonsense.

I wouldn't want my 11 yr old daughter seeing that either. The argument for "it's just nudity" goes right out the window due to America's historic law and policy, never mind general attitude. A frickin nipple at the Super Bowl caused enormous uproar and caused future 30 sec delays. Americans even get uncomfortable if a guy wears a speedo at the pool/beach. This ain't Germany where nudity is far more tolerated, on parks, in saunas. This isn't Europe where you see uncensored playboy boobs at the bus stop or in your local supermarket. No, this is puritan America, historically afraid of any nudity.

The idea full grown American adults can't handle coed saunas, regular nude beaches, topless/bottomless tanning in parks but suddenly young teens should magically put up with coed nudity is the height of hypocrisy, the height of foolishness.

It btw is mostly women here who are the biggest hypocrites. Example, many gyms have female cleaning attendants who come into the male locker room. It's happened countless times to me, I walk out of the shower but naked and there's a women in there picking up towels or restocking supplies. The inverse would never be tolerated, a male cleaning attendant in a female locker room. Or look at pro sports, female journalists regularly around naked players in the locker room but the inverse.....will never happen. Incredible double standard but it's the asinine feminists per usual, screaming the loudest about "they're just bodies".

This is America, where on one hand we hear we're supposed to just accept any naked body of any "gender" around young teens and on the other hand, yoga pants get banned for showing too much.

There is transgender AND sexual identity. They are not the same. If someone truly is transitioning I have no issue. It is the ability to 'chose' that is wrong here. When someone transitions they can petition the court and they are identified as the new gender moving forward. Why is this so hard to realize? I know, sensationalism....

I tend to mostly agree with the sentiment you are trying to express here. This girl one week and boy the next and all the non-binary mid-spectrum kids really confuse the issue for those that are truly trans with diagnosed gender dysphoria but without throwing those kids under the bus, what can you do? Plus, many true trans kids go through stages before their transness is fully realized. There are no easy answers to a very complicated situation.

That may work fine for adults but not so well for children. Many kids, even the ones truly transgender live in homes with unsupportive families or in those lacking the financial resources to go through legal processes or obtain the medical care from professionals qualified to diagnose gender dysphoria.

The fact that this issue is not cut and dried, black and white does make it difficult. Unquestionably and statistically though, these kids are more at risk than almost any other group and we cannot just discard our discount their problems because they're just too hard to think about.

True, but should it then be put upon everyone for those who are intolerant. When I was younger there were 'those kids' and it was just something no one talked about. I remember in the late 70's a boy who wore dresses at my elementary school. No one made fun of him...it was just...ok. who cares...let's play kickball. Move on.

It is not about not supporting them in this action. It is about making sure that it is done correctly. This had gone on for decades...why is it now an issue? No administration has addressed it and it was the 7th year of the Obama admin it came to the forefront. It was for votes not rights. Sorry. Sad but true.

Everyone should have a voice....

These things probably sound worse than they are in practise.

On paper it sounds horrendous - the opposite gender want to invade our "privacy".

But with the reality of what actually happens in a locker room (everybody pretty much minds their own business), a truly transgendered individual would probably go unnoticed.

Especially for schools however, it shouldn't come lightly.
It needs to be backed up by professional documentation on a case by case basis.
Hence I'm in favor of creating state-based or national tribunals, which weigh up claims of being transgender with the rights of the broader community in a reasonable fashion.
Such licenses, once granted should also be subject to review, if there is abuse going on.

Suffice to say, if you act like a male, and you play on my team, it would be unfair to say you come into our locker-room.
A buddy is a buddy.

Trans people are always going to be with us.
What we should be discussing is under what circumstances transgender licenses should be granted, and who should be on tribunals to make it fair for everyone.

Just remember all of you ..... this involves bathrooms, gyms, locker rooms etc. Also remember we as people are sexual aroused by SIGHT. So if this is what you want keep on complaining and waging a war on something that is 6 billion years in age .... modesty. Remember you could be the next victim of sexual assault or your wife or husband or son or daughter etc.

Many of these people that are posing as transgender are really perverts using this clause to go into the girls rooms. Yes that is true and you really need to sit and think about what you are proposing to USof A. Whatever happened to this is my body and I choose whom to display it for and when. Is this really what you are asking for some jackass sitting in a restaurant while trying to enjoy a night out with her legs open for all to see. Or you are walking down the street and here comes a bunch of sicko girls with no shirts on just because they are rebellious. Animals act better than this..

What you do in your PRIVATE BEDROOM is just that a PRIVATE BEDROOM and I for one am not interested in what you do there. Lets keep it there in the bedroom. There is nothing special about Americans that make their bodies something great and from what I see it is all made up anyway fake body parts. If we are going to go there then I want you all to take off all the fake boobs fake hair fake eyelashes fake injections fake tans etc and let me see you as you really are.
If you have a little thing sticking out go to the boys room and if it is between the legs use the girls room. You can be transgender all you want but just stop invading MY PRIVACY See I have RIGHTS ALSO

If that's the case, then we also need to keep gay men out of men's rooms, gyms and locker rooms and lesbians out of ladies rooms, gyms and locker rooms!

I think my argument is quite reasonable.
It shouldn't be a free for all situation.

For schools, it is not a small thing for society.

Everybody in the community should be heard on a case by case basis.
OK it should be quick and not drag on for months and months.
But in the case of a truly transgendered person that identity should be officially validated, unless you suggest our schools should become nudist camps where everyone can go where they please.
Actually I could think of some teen guys who wouldn't mind wearing a bra to check out the girls' locker room.
No more perving through the proverbial hole in the wall (ala Porkies).
Is that what you want?

So I think my proposal is quite reasonable.
Validate the true trans person, and weed out the chancers.

And yes, if I want certain rights and benefits in society that others don't get, I better darn well prove my credentials.
It already happens with claims of aboriginality and tribal membership, so why not for gender identities?

And yeah, generally I think we need more lgbt nationalism and let go of social constructionism.
In fact I wouldn't mind if we had our own country, with our own passport.
Preferably not in the Middle East though.
Too much doo doo there already.

Out of the estimated 150,000 transgender children in this country, can you please find me one report where one of them ever exposed their genitals in a school locker room.

You folks don't seem to realize that trans kids want more than anything to just be accepted as regular girls and boys and to fit in and be treated the same as their non-transgender peers. The last thing on earth they are going to do is let anyone see the parts of them that don't fit into their assumed gender. Kids/people with gender dysphoria generally dislike the gendered parts of their bodies even to the point where taking a shower alone at home is uncomfortable and disturbing to them but yet you all seem to think they're going to be parading around naked in the school's changing rooms.

The idea that trans girls are going to be showering naked among natal girls is a complete fallacy. It's made up. It is a lie and not something I've been able to determine has happened, ever.
