Thank you, CK. And thank you also, Night.

Crappie, I showed your picture to my wife and she was glad for it.

Night, she loved the roses.

I asked Dada if she knew how old she was. She didn't, so I said, "You were born in..."

"1977," she said.

"Actually, it was 1944. So you are 73 years old today!"

"Oh, that is a good age!" She was very pleased to be that age. So, we've had a pretty good day. Dada doesn't know what year it is, but why bother her mind with such details? In the past, in the long-ago, we humans never concerned ourselves with them. And now, I can see why: dates and years don't really matter so much; they are only products of the mind.

Living each day is what counts. Each day, Night Star. Each day, crappiekat. That's all we really have. And every day, evn the ones where nothing much happens, is a day we have.

I love this life. No matter what it brings, I still love it.

Looks like our recipes are similar. Spice wise

allrecipes.com...

I've never gone organic. I figure as long as I am buying quality products. We should be ok.

I have never cooked with coconut oil either. I have read some that it is very healthy for you.

I do the same thing with my spices. I make my own ranch mix, chicken mix and also taco seasoning.

Much cheaper that buying the packets, and as you stated, you can add as much as you like.

Yep. I'm up here in the North. The badger state. I actually love the winters. (except for the driving)

Since I have been up here, I haven't used my air conditioner once.

But I'll tell ya, my de-humidifier really gets a workout. I have two. One up stairs and one downstairs.

You are lucky that you had a Mom that would take the time to teach you to cook. And your kids are very blessed.

I was married to a sous chef, so after I got married I learned alot.(I still follow recipes though, don't trust myself with salt)

And our kids loved it when Mom and Dad would get into our competitions. They are both good cooks.

Dang!! making your own pasta. I'm in love....

I'd humbly like to ask you all to read my post in the "North Korea Watch" thread HERE.

The North Korean regime will fall. I promise you this. People can suffer almost anything but after some generations of seeing their children being oppressed, people will take no more. It happened here where I now live. It will happen there.

The overwhelming majority of North Koreans are just like us. They despise the regime that rules their lives, they hate what it is doing to their children. If I live to see the day when they are free, I will be glad indeed.

No matter how hard your life is, be glad you are not the average citizen in North Korea, who can be jailed (or worse) for even accessing a site like this.

We are incredibly lucky. Yes, we have our problems: health, money, jobs, relationships. But at least we are blessed with the freedom to say what we think, without fear of being sent to a forced labor camp for it. We have that freedom because brave men and women fought for it, and we should be eternally grateful to them or that.

And there are brave men and women in North Korea as well. Men and women who are just like us.

Wish them strength, wish them courage. But most of all, wish them the freedom to raise their children as they choose, with love, honesty and humanity. And without fear.

Mike

So true Mike. Every day should be precious and appreciated. Even when my anxiety and depression weigh on me, there is so much that I am grateful for.

Kat, you mentioned Easter and crafts. Yes, Mark and I will be going out to lunch on Easter with one of my Brothers and my Sister's Hubby, Son, Daughter-in-law and one or two of my Great Nieces. My Brother will be going out later in the day to spend at a Daughter's house with her and his Grandchildren. I have bags made up for the kids with cute little toys and candy.

Working on a necklace right now. The focal piece is a handmade glass heart shaped bead and it will have tiny purple crystals hanging from it. There are pink, purple and blue flowers inside the heart. Hard to describe, but a truly beautiful piece.

Shep, sorry I haven't been to your thread to read the latest installment yet. I'll get there eventually though.

That is so sweet.

Glad she liked the pictures.

You are so right about each day. I forget that sometimes.

Now that my kids are older and I am aging, I think about what it will be like when I start to forget things.

I hope that when I start forgetting things, that I have someone with me that will gently remind me and let me just enjoy the moment.

It's hard to know what is fake news and real.

I am watching this thread too.

I wonder what will happen as far as a refugee crisis. Will Japan accept them or kill them. And also for their southern boarder. This will be a humanitarian crisis.

Oh I would love to see a pic if you can upload it.

You have made some really pretty pieces. I love the one with the angel.

I am starting my baskets tomorrow.

I'm working Saturday all day so I plan on doing my eggs Friday nite.

I got a tye dye kit this years.

Yup, our recipes are similar. Interesting to see oregano in that recipe you linked - might have to try that or marjoram.

That was my guess - northern WI. I suspect you are farther north than I am, though. I'm on a line west of the Twin Cities, so we are rural, but not really in the woods. It's pretty much all cornfields around my neighborhood.

I like winter too, and summer. It's the transition seasons I'm not so fond of. I go through autumn thinking, "Oh just snow already!" and spring thinking, "Oh just warm up already!"

Definitely understand the dehumidifier though. We just have the one in our basement, but our house is pretty new - just over 10 years old.

LOL - my kids would be blessed by my cooking if they ever bothered to try the really good stuff. My middle Shepherdito has begun to though - he tried my secret ingredient chili and found out he loves it. They are pretty fond of my spaghetti as well, whether it's Italian sausage or homemade meatballs. But I make a superb alfredo sauce that they won't even try, and they turn their little noses up at stuff like citrus-marinated fajitas, or my braised beef brisket.

Oh well - someday. Probably when they want to make a meal for a pretty young lady - LOL.

I just wanted to say "hi" to everybody.

Been out all day driving people around to doctor's appointments, etc. and trying to keep myself busy. I'm having a writer's block kind of crisis, can't come up with anything creative or amusing but also don't want to sit in lurker mode.

Happy Birthday to Dada! xoxo

Hope everyone is well and having a good day.
(Just got a text that hubby is done work so will have to leave shortly to pick him up)
Love to all,
jacy

Hello Kat, Shep and Jacy!

Kat, there is so much going on in the world and it's difficult to predict what may or may not happen. I try to keep up with things, but it can be overwhelming.

I would have to have someone take pics of some of my jewelry one of these days.

Shep, it's good that you cook. Sometimes I enjoy cooking and sometimes I don't. Love using herbs! I just bought a rosemary plant. I'm waiting to get some other herb plants.

Jacy, I realize how busy you are, but it is so great to see you!!!! HUGS!!!

Well put. It is almost like nobody thinks of the kids. Piszes me off. I sometimes think the kids are the adults and the adults are the kids.

Hi Mike !

I just had to stop and post a response ...

Your attitude is to be admired and emulated. We always have something to be grateful for and there are always others worse off.

I am glad to hear that your good self and Dada had a nice day, it is the simple things ...

Happy Birthday Dada !!🍰🎂🍾

Take care Mike. 😊
