When I first found ATS it was a fount of imagination. Now it is a narrowest stream where challenge to popular ideologies is met with glib and minimalist dismissal. Aka the term snowflake. As I imparted in my OP, the very use of that term is hypocritical and lacking every aspect of open mindedness and imagination: it is LITERALLY an attack against expressing imaginative rejection of xyz idea.

What is the use of a message board like this if it is to shun and narrow further an already limited discussion? I just don't understand that. Are these accounts bots? I shudder at such reduction. I just hope a few of those guys can read this type of exchange and reconsider their approach. We all have ideas we hold and prejudices... an aspect that is human nature. But we DONT COME HERE FOR THAT! This is a place where we talk about aliens, nephilum, solar storms, nebulas, angels and demons and government agendas all together and at once. People need to WAKE UP. And listen to a greater potential of ideas. If you want a narrow message, go elsewhere!

And I just have to hat tip you for taking a smaller message I had been conceiving to a beautifully more profound level. Again. This is always why I loved this forum. It's about elevating thought above the chaff and meeting with others sharing that hope. You made my night friend. So glad you found my post.

Cheers!

This will probably be the last time I appear on ATS. My family works with RenTech specifically through Mercer's computational linguistic team that used to work at IBM doing NLP research at Watson Labs. These were the people Mercer hand-picked and brought with him to Renaissance. We have had dinners with Simons and know several senior executives within the company. Following Trump's win in December there was a big party on Long Island thrown in Trump's honor. All I am going to say is keep a close watch on what happens with any changes to the tax code. This has been a long time in the making. That's all I can say, sorry.

Oh, friend. RenTech was an old client of mine going back to 06. Lots of great people there maybe doing well for themselves and no one else.

I began to be a part of the quant hedge fund industry- stat arb and convertible arb - at 16. That's all I'll say as well.

Thanks for your contribution.

Cheers!

In the 8 years that I have been on ATS, sure there is great change, and statistically it probably makes sense as well. The political upheaval put it way over the top, but it survives.

When I joined, the front pages were all Lazar, Lear, Titor, 9/11, Roswell, Rendelsham, Halifax, Tesla, Hynek, MJ-12, MkUltra... And these subjects are here today as well, just mixed in with the fluff that has always been there, but nothing like the fluff of today.

Add politics, and the ratio of "Standard ATS Topics" to political and racial posts is a big number under the 1. ATS represents the state of the world population.. A Bellwether in this regard, so while troubling, it is certainly understandable. The question is, will all of this diatribe increase and tensions get worse? ... or is it another flash in the pan that we will eventually get sick of, and it will subside through attrition, however leaving a permanent "scar", if you will. I think and hope the latter, but there will always be a different attitude in the site from when I joined.

Its bloody good to hear a voice of reason on all this, especially one so informed about the inner workings of the financial industry. I think the problem those of us on the left of things have had with the Trump issue, is that we knew what you said at the bottom of your OP, to be absolutely accurate, but everyone around us seemed to be deifying a man who has only ever failed to innovate.

Following the money is the key to almost every obstruction between a citizen of the world, and the truth about those who run it.

ATS has degenerated into a cesspool of partisan rhetoric and people who deflect every single valid response to some stupid meme or nonsense phrase. It's just easier to pander to the populist ego than it is to actually refute whatever the "enemy" says. So every single goddamn posts turns into "you're triggered!" "you're a snowflake!" whatever stupid buzzword captures the psyche of the lambs.

Old standbys are changing, many respectful old posters have ignored all of the classical conspiracy red-flags and jumped on the popular bandwagons, desperate to fit in with the new populist and pander for stars (which in reality represent psychological validation of one's beliefs)... the few remaining non-partisans are being # on for their level-headed approach, deliberately pushed to one extreme or the other. It's easier to believe lies and validate unreasonableness if you can force-fit the world into your black-and-white narrative. Grey has no place in delusions.

Sadly if you had left Trump out of the equation I guarantee you'd be front page and people would be ego-masturbating about how evil everyone else is. The NWO divides us by frivolous things so that we never fight them. They've even managed to convince millions of people that a billionaire is one of us.

Not really - especially since you cant invest in a concentration camp per se. There is a lot of propaganda about what they did. In actuality Bush set up a bank in America specifically to house assets for Fritz Thiessen, early supporter of Hitler. Their holding company actually acted as Fritz's agent long before the Nazis came to power. What they did only became illegal in 1941 when the US declared war officially. Basically, they made money and shipped assets of the people who directly profited off of slave labour and all.
They made money from the Holocaust, but by proxy.
To be completely fair the Bush brothers also made money funding the Communists, mortal enemies of the Nazis. They had no morality in either situation, just lust for money.

It is funny to me how people used to be so antiestablishment here, until Tweeter in chief came along, then they suddenly decide to buy it all, hook, line, and sinker.

I remember a time when partisan politics where not part of the normal ats convos. That started shortly after facebook erupted. Social engineering at its finest has slipped in and appears to be here to stay.

Sometimes I'm guilty of being partisan, but only when a topic is grossly slanted in one direction or someone does a drive by one liner with nothing to prove themselves right.

The most important thing I take away from your post is something I've been doing lately when I post. Ask the person what they feel is right or should be done, basically see what I can agree with them on. If we don't find something to agree on we will always be divided. Half the battle is understanding why people think the way they do which is increasingly difficult when we are all keyboard warriors here.

Defining the problem at its core is another problem on ATS. History repeats itself. If we can identify when we started having problem X we can maybe stop and prevent it. Politics are such a stupid thing to get pissed about when all in all the politicians are in for themselves. Think about a senator, no term limits, ever decision is based on how will my approval ratings look (ability to be reelected).

I voted Gary Johnson because I KNEW HE HAD NO CHANCE, not because I liked him or thought he was the best direction, but because I wanted that 5% voting block so the third party could have a better platform next go around. I'm thirty one, and this was my first time voting because who else have I had to vote for really? No one I felt confident in. I didn't feel confident with Johnson but decided that his may be my best shot for change...failed

There are several people here I only see on the political threads that I'm starting to wonder if they are being paid... now that's ATS material! Lol

Well, the mud slinging and the roaring madness is contained in a few forums. If you happen to use the "recent" button, then yes it seems crazy here. Pull up a chair and grab a drink. Some people want reinforcement of what they believe, some want to learn, some want to teach.

Goldman Sachs is the symptom of the problem. It's the obliqueness of the industry, making it hard to follow on purpose because they are screwing folks out of money. One company recently got caught and fined for front running it's own clients! Goldman Sachs is one of them that does it too, that casino is rigged. It was quasi admitted to in court (they pleaded guilty to charges of rigging a few markets without admitting guilt).

No longer a conspiracy when you can provide facts..

George Bush's grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany.

Welcome back, I have essentially left but check on here once in long while nearly never log in even then. I am really disappointed with the changes in people in general not just here. Do people realize the public does not even enforce their paid representatives coming to work or doing their jobs anymore? They get elected and reelected with records of failure. It is about ball game thinking, who wears my team colors and waves my flag. Americans don't exist as a group any longer.

I wonder what you thought through the banker "suicides" years, it sounds like many would have been in positions of extreme loss so maybe they were mostly legit suicides.

You will find most threads full of one liner "tweet like" jokes and childish jabs with zero thought behind them. That is the new ATS way and any deep probe is disappeared on any controversial subjects not just monitored for filth and garbage.

Why you return now I don't know but I would bet you won't be able to stand to stay long because you are an old ATSer and most of those have gone elsewhere and I wish I could find where and follow the remaining adults. Maybe you can add a little quality and hang in here, I couldn't stand the kiddie behavior and childish "WTF" titles of threads. Good luck to you and thanks for an interesting post.

ATS was hi-jacked.

I never believed in co-intel agents until this (s)election cycle. Now it's clear.

It used to be about government corruption and dissidence. Exposing the truth, or at least basic communication between like-minded individuals.

Now it's a forum for the alt-right. It's all about praising Trump and ensuring any "conspiracy," related to him and his cabinet is not investigated and left as "conspiracy."

Whereas we've had threads about Hillary coughing up Reptilian eggs, to her actually being dead and deploying a body double, from Obama being the Anti-Christ to him being Osama Bin Laden....

ATS has been hijacked.

It used to be we the people on ATS conversing about the elite. Now it's people on ATS using buzzwords like "triggered and snowflake," to push their partisan agenda.

Just look at some of the new "buzzwords," that resident ATS'ers have taken up.

Fake news. Triggered. Snowflake.

These weren't around a year ago.... now they're everywhere.

Programming. People have been socially conditioned and they don't even realize it.

Very accurate description and this has been the topic more frequently lately.

It seems the website has become an alt-right beacon. Old school ATS type discussions of distrust of the government are long gone -- any attack on the current government is met with organized opposition.

It's disheartening, very few of us here had issues with both Hillary and Trump and were able to see through the bs of both of them; most people fell for a side, which as you noted is very, very unusual for ATS.

You know what else I've noticed about the website?

You remember years ago how often someone would turn out to be a doctor or a chemical engineer and we'd have in depth discussions about 9/11 or medical applications of such and such? When was the last time you saw a professional on this website that was not invited by ATS staff and had an account created and verified for them?

I don't remember the last time. This website no longer attracts quality. It no longer attracts professionals. It attracts Social Media Warriors who are far less informed.

The biggest of all for awhile was "rhetoric" I thought that was a wild word at the time.
