We're finally getting to the end of clearing mum's flat. Just the washing machine and a few bits'n'bobs left now. The keys have to be handed back by Monday at the latest.
I've been getting really bad headaches every time I go back there, and I now seem to have developed a horrible flu-type illness!
My head is pounding, sore throat, cough, runny nose, aches & pains - even the back of my eyeballs hurts!!
I'm using double the normal dose of painkillers and its barely taking the edge off.

I think it has been hanging on me for a couple of weeks, but is coming out now that everything is finally settling down.
It might be tied in with the mourning/grief, but I don't know.

Chrissie is away for a birthday treat SPA Hotel night with her friend Valerie, so I've been taking care of the boys tonight as well as finding people to uplift the last of mums things.
We were supposed to be going down to the Island for another friends birthday party this weekend, but there is NO WAY I will be going if I'm still feeling like this, so I think I'll just send her and the boys down by themselves and I'll stay home and get some rest.

Well, you did ask!! LOL

I'd like to answer this if I may. Not directing this at just one person, but all Sheddites. If there are any shed members who don't get along for whatever the reason or just don't care for each other for some reason, just avoid each other, but be a part of the shed. We are all unique and have our different personalities and whatever, sometimes there will be conflicts of interest or personalities. You each have your place here and your own little or big lights to shine out into the world. I don't want anyone avoiding this place because of one or two people you may not care for.

Think of all the people whos' lives you touch, how just one post can make someone smile and bring them joy, how many friends you have made and how much fun you have had. Think of all the times we have rallied around in support of another member for something difficult they may be going through. We have shared soooo much through the years. Think of how you have inspired someone when you least expected it, and most of all think of all the love.

If someone is lurking because they are too busy to post, that is fine. If someone needs some space for a time, that is fine. BUT...do not stay away because you are avoiding one person. Do not stay away thinking this place is only for the sunshine and rainbows and laughs. Yes, there will always be those magical and enchanting moments. Yes, there will always be fun and laughter and adventures. There will always be inspiration and serenity and a safe place to come to. There are also real people here with real lives and sometimes our lives are shattered or we are in a dark place and need our fellow Sheddite Warriors to stand strong by our sides and help us see our way through.

Concentrate on the good we have here. Live here in the shedlands and don't hide yourself away. Find your peace with like minded people. It is always here, always waiting for you.

I think a lot of what you are feeling is coming from stress which can wreak havoc on our health. I am not at all surprised. You have been through a lot and need time to grieve and heal. Big hug for you handsome! Wishing you peace my friend! Thank you for sharing, I think it helps to get things off our shoulders. I know it has always helped me in the past.


Ok, better check the veggies before I ruin them and get that darned shepards pie cooked. Be back my lovelies!

Forgot to mention, that hearing about your going through your Mother's possessions, it reminded of me all the emotions that came welling up from inside while going through my own Mom's things. It was like seeing time unfold, so many wonderful years captured in old photos, from black and white to the colored ones we have now. I saw the changes in clothing styles, cars and all kinds of things. So many happy smiling faces looking back at me from those photos.


It was so sad losing my Mom and having lost my Dad as well, so many tears and a broken heart, but the knowledge of knowing she wasn't suffering any more and that she was finally with Dad and in a better place brought a semblance of peace. I got to keep some beautiful things from them, such treasures to me, things of remembrance and love.


Like CC, I would like one day to go all through the photos and organize them in photo albums or put some in frames.

Thankfully my Sister posted this on facebook. I have that very photo and love it! My Dad was in his Navy uniform when they got married. Here they are...

Awwww, thank you Sweetheart! Someone once told me that the only difference between really smart people and those who aren't is that the really smart people just know more words. Think of it this way...some very smart people do some very dumb things. It doesn't really make them smarter or better than you. You are able to say things that come across just fine. You share what is in your heart and that doesn't always need fancy words. HUGS! Some people may know more or better words to use, but You may be better at crafts or something else. So don't compare yourself to others.

It's like when I write in my story here. I know there are others who can write better than me, use better words or say things better than I may have, but I can still tell a tale and some people enjoy it, so that's enough for me.
