Hehe, I understand.. just something about it all that touched my funny boy.. Well, I have no objections but I'm not an American either so..

That Mother Jones article was pretty funny.. made Trump look pretty foolish and juvenile..

No no no. He got his CAR and Bronze Star with V for serving in closed combat, not open combat.

Is that like a tie-down hunt?

Compared to Mattis, Obama's picks for SecDef have been disastrous.

I dunno man, you look pretty damn shady...

It's osmosis. I would have been looking around for a little acetone
to rinse off, or at least a clean can of Hoppe's oil to cut the grease.
Chuck Hagel was a senator. Then they made him a paper pusher for
the Pentagon-- a task from reports he didn't quite excel at.

Getting flagged or not with live ones vxn, you're brave for getting
that close. I would have been smelling my bile at five paces.

Back to the thread-- it seems we have a directly inverse problem
with Mattis. What ever screws up on his watch probably may be
rectified before the media gets a whiff. And with a capital recti.

I didn't know much about him until recently. He seems to be highly respected. His quotes make him come across as a typical tough military guy. Not necessarily a bad thing, but not necessarily a good one either.

E4 mafia, huh? good times...

Yep. An E4 with his own soldiers and TI orders.

The latter of which, to my knowledge, the only one awarded such orders in the army.

Brute force is not how you win wars. Patton was a bad general too

I have not liked a lot of Trumps appointments/ nominations, but Mattis is a great pick for defense secretary.

Did you know it used to be Secretary or War? At some point it got pc'd to defense (I havent googled when). I mean it should just be defense, but "war" was more realistic.

German officers fighting against Patton's 3rd army would tell you different .

We want peace but don't mess with us while we make America great again just got infinitely stronger, the joint chiefs will know and respect him. Great pick.

Don't like this pick. We have enough generals in the military. We don't need a retired one in the 2nd Highest Civilian position in the Military.

Well after 8 years of using the military for social engineering and SJW bull# it's nice to have someone who will bring back the warrior spirit.

Seems like regression.

Maybe its my enlisted past but I don't worship officers. Last thing we need is more in charge.

How so?

The purpose of the military is to kill people and break stuff.

We were never in the business of making people feel good.

I'm enlisted army.

I have never "worshipped" officers. I just find Mattis' attitude and philosophy of service more in tune with what the Army and Marine Corp. traditionally has been.

The evolution of Peacekeepers -- out.

A return to the Aggressive Killer Mad Dogs.

Oh, I don't know why I'd think it is regression.

The military only keeps the peace by deterrence.

When it is time to fight we need to be quick, deadly, and extremely aggressive. Otherwise we'd make a #ty military.

What the terrible "warrior monk" crap? Maybe if he was a company officer that could be something to praise but not in a Flag Officer.
