For those who want everyone to say what they were trying hard not to think, I'll say it.
I am hoping like hell that this isn't a racial or political thing. I'd rather it be a crazy guy, or an accident. The level of wrong it takes to hurt innocent kids is mind boggling. It would be wrong to come out and say it could be anything without facts, so that is the intended reason for not saying something that could be misconstrued. Praying for the souls of the lost and the lives of the hurt.

Is there a reading comprehension issue? The article is titled "Parent Says Tennessee School Bus Driver Asked Kids If They Were ‘Ready to Die’"

How do you arrive at "doesn't even hint at it"????

Now, it remains to be seen if the assertion is true. I, for one, hope it is not. But assuming it is true, motive is the next logical question....or are you just looking for prejudiced intent behind every post?

1) this quote has not been verified at this point,

2) if verified, we don't know the context or reason it was said.

This is certainly not enough to say anything is obvious.

No reading comprehension issues here.

Thanks for stating the obvious.

I don't believe anyone has explicitly asserted otherwise.

But they only got that comment out one family thus far, so it certainly brings up the very strong possibility that those kids misheard him. Or that he didn't say it at all and they lied for whatever reason. They are kids, after all, both good at mishearing and making s# up. I have 2 myself, it's completely par for the course with kids.

If it were my kids, and my kids were the only ones saying it, I'd be questioning my kids' reason. I'd expect more children to say they heard the same by now, the buss had over 30 on it. Surely they weren't the only 2-3 who did. Right?

Motive is the obvious question when intent hasn't even been confirmed?

So much for keeping a cool head and denying ignorance.

Revving engine, scared, possibly screaming kids...

It's perfectly possible that the two kids sitting behind and the one behind and across in the aisle seat were the only ones that heard anything, especially if he was not shouting it himself.

I'm hoping it wasn't intentional. This is the first article where it was asserted it was.

I think we just have to wait and see what additional details become available.

Yes and children are easily lead to certain answers when assaulted with loaded questions.

The article doesn't have enough info to say much about it.

Lots of things we could guess about.

Go back and read my first post. I don't automatically assume it's true.

wow, i'm out of touch.... I didn't know this stuff :

...and Police Chief Fred Fletcher said a warrant had been issued to retrieve the black box and videos from the bus

the bus has a black box like aircraft do ?

I can see a video cam being present... a wide angle lens that shows driver and a panorama of the riders behind the driver....
a half hour loop to witness the goings-on during a bus route trip for police/insurance/others

I'm really hoping it was just a distracted driver, maybe by kids yelling, getting out of their seats, etc...and took the curve too fast.
I honestly don't want to think of anyone doing this on purpose, for whatever reason.

My guess to the "obvious" question is: Were the 8 kids dropped off all black and the rest of the kids on the bus not black and if this was a racial thing.

I hope that is not the case though if the quote about what he said is true then I can't rule it out until I see what the racial make up of the bus was at the time of the crash.

The guy was obviously nuts, but the 8 dropped off at a prior stop begs the question of what made those 8 different or special enough to not attempt to kill them?

I will update this and say that I definitely do NOT think race was a factor in this incident after looking at the racial makeup of the school in question.

Our local news had video, the above is not the case. The only kids from the bus or parents interviewed were black.

Get ready for loads more of these 'lets make that virtual game world my reality'.

Do you think there is a correlation between video games and playing out virtual reality in real life?

I'd say that is quite a unsubstantiated opinion considering there is over 1.2billion gamers in the world? This is just a sick minded individual who clearly suffered from a complete and utter mental breakdown!

A terrorist regardless of religion or race!

I can't even.... comprehend. Is the implication that VR is responsible for a bus driver intentionally crashing a bus full of children? If so; just no. Stop that rhetoric, that's just the new age "Doom made me shoot up my shcool" -- because, it obviously didn't.

I also read the driver was texting his mom initially after incident. Often, criminals do that to create their narrative.

Personally, Im getting rope out and knots tied.

REALLY?!
