[Trump is] a charismatic narcissist who feeds on the crowd to become ever stronger, creating a cult around himself.

Trump feeds on ignorance and stupidity like a virus

From that article:

You can blame society, politicians, the media, for America getting to the point that it’s ready for Trump, but the bigger historical picture is that history generally plays out the same way each time someone like him becomes the boss.

I honestly think that Hillary and many of her supporters would usher in the 5th Reich. I'm still afraid of that happening with her army of brownshirts causing violence and punishing people who don't obey them or think like them.

So if the other side thinks that I am lowbrow or deplorable and thinks poorly of Trump and everyone who supports him, who am I to argue?

I think you have a good, thoughtful post.

I hope someone knowledgeable comes in to help create a good discussion exchange.

So you admit that you are not knowledgeable and are incapable of having a good discussion?

That is rare for a liberal.

Knowledgeable on the history of Germany, rise of Hitler, and it's comparison to Trump and what's happening in America today?

No, it's not my specialty.

However, I do see similarities -- and I would appreciate an intelligent discussion.

Something you don't seem to be able to provide.

I am a student of history, and I see a lot of similarities. The hate and anger he has brought to the forefront in otherwise sane people, while explainable, cannot be understood.

How do you state he played us when he hasn't even taken office yet to perform the duties of President??? Please don't take this the wrong way, but you kinda sound like a dip**** here... But even if what you say is true, I'll still take him over that devil in a pant suit that WOULD have 110% taken our country into WW3 with Russia...

I'm happy you're here.

Did you read that article at Huffington?

It's not just him. From what I have seen both candidates of every presidential election after Bill Clinton (I haven't followed that one or any before him, so I don't know about those) have run a campaign that seems hellbend to rip the country apart by making the people believe that "the other side" is the devil incarnate.
It's utter madness, although I admit that this election was even more crazy than usual.

Or maybe you've been expertly led to this assumption by the use of a few bad-actor examples to paint a substantial part of the US population as racist, xenophobic, misogynist, etc...by those with a political agenda.

I lived more than half of my life in Europe and nearly a decade in Germany. I have family and friends in several foreign countries. I too am a student of history and I can resoundingly reject the notion that what we see in Trump's political success has any similarity to Hitler's ascension.

I'm baffled by this view, especially while we witness at this very moment violence in the streets, calls for assassination, and more open expressions of hate from those who claim to value diversity, love and peace.

I'd take honest stock in your thinking, if I were you.

Trump played the fiddle........ then i say its time we gathered up all the folks and had us a good old hoedown!!!! Heck we'll even invite some of them democrats to enjoy the fun!!!! heck there's enough food and drink for everybody..... and lets not forget that fine fiddle playing...yeeeee haaawwwwww you know all us Trump supporters are a bunch of backwards folks so you all are gonna have to talk slowly and not use big fancy words.

Excuse me while I go watch reruns of Dukes of hazard and expand my social awareness and world views.

I would like nothing better than for democrats to keep calling me racist, uneducated, hateful and evil. To break things and riot.... and cause harm to random people on the street. I encourage you to continue and to even escalate it. Take it to all new levels of indecency....nothing would please me more....... do my work for me.

Sooner or later my side will find the derogatory word to use when talking about you guys..... and that word will spread.... and before you know it.... masses of people are gonna be calling SJW, BLM and the likes Muggles or something

yeah, you're likely right about Hillary, but
The Fourth Reich principal is not new and can be found in foundational history books for college courses, predicting just that. The point is, I think, that no one had a real choice in this election. Did they then choose the fourth reich.....I think not. Most Americans have no clue about the evidentiary or evolutionary status of the "fourth" Reich.....having thought all that went away magically, vis a vis, the second world war and the apparent defeat of Adolf Hitler, not getting that we were then dealing with an enemy well versed in the art of war, defeating its enemy and then donning their victims' garb, so that no one would ever know whom the enemy of humankind truly was.....

One dark day all these deceived ones will rue the time they supported Trump.

Remember this day…remember this period because it’s the best its going to be under Trump.

To Trump this is just another deal…another swindle…half the American people--that’s a good deal for Trump.

He's laughing at his supporters and grateful for their ignorance

Dark days are ahead folks

Get ready for em.

For you elected Trump at a price

...And that price is the very destruction of the foundation of the nation and maybe the world
Sad thing is, only half of Americans voted, so Trump only has support of 25% of the American public.

I have no political affiliation and probably read 50 or 60 news sources a day. I have lived in the USA for all of my 56 years, in an interesting part of the country called "Little Dixie". I have heard the "N" word more times than I can count from my parents and grand parents, have actually sat down and had breakfast with the head of the KKK in an area north of me. I am not naive, and I do see a lot of hitler, in trump with the propaganda.

If Trump was just like Hitler all those hysterical "tolerant" retards out there protesting the very democracy they claim to love would be lining the streets in body bags.

Get an effin' grip. If liberals keep up this behaviour they are going to lose all potential support/sympathy from those on the fence as well as international support. They are no longer in a position of power and they would do well to remember that before they create a self-fulfilling prophecy out of their demented fears.

Ok Année: so you vote on issues, or what the candidates will do about them?
Thanks for twisting my viewpoint.
I never said I didn't care, did I? And I've addressed a very salient point about why and whom we vote for, and therefore, what we expect from them. If you vote just upon issues, my stance is you are foolish. Ostensibly, issues can be linked to parties and their general beliefs, and therefore, treatment of certain issues. But certainly you realize, Annee, that candidates do as they will, not necessarily as parties dictate or otherwise....

But, then, I find your reply to me quite .....well, what's the word. Short sighted, perhaps. Or not demonstrative of any specific reality, by just begging an argument. Good luck with that. Is that gonna solve any real world issues?
How are we uniting and getting together here?
Thanks for your unique understanding of my words.

I don't need posters who regurgitate my words in a way that doesn't adequately represent their meaning , nor represent them in an idiotic manner at all, either.....
So, we're even now, or what?
Where the hell did you get out of my post that I didn't care? REALLY? I don't vote. So I'm not voting for anything other than the real issues and/or real person who will represent them....

Dear God. We're really in trouble now, if you've skewed what I said into what you interpreted....
