But now, people want us to believe they have SEEN six seasons of this show and are allofasudden just realizing it's brutally violent today? Really??
The IGN review was the worst...that guy seemed genuinely upset that a show about the end of the world and zombies was brutally violent.

Totally agree...

I'm not toooooo sure WHY anyone would have THUNK it otherwise...

Given in the first few minutes of the very first episode we saw Rick put a slug through a lil girl's head carrying a teddy-bear (granted, a Zombie girl) ... that mighta been a wee hint that this show was NOT going to be all rainbow skittles and fairy-floss!

There's been disembowelments, tearing apart of faces, biting out of throats, smashing of skulls, splattering of brains, chopping of limbs, exploding of heads, eating of people and a SHYTE-TON of reason NEVER to look at flowers again!
But oh no. For some reason a beatdown with a baseball bat comes as a shock???

DO find TWD to be quite an interesting highlighter of what we, as a collective society, find acceptable or not.
Where that mystical meandering line in the sand lays...

It's kinda okay to kill kids - as long as they're Zombies.
It's potentially kinda maybe if you squint hard enough okay to kill Non-Zombie kids - as long as they're completely psycho and look at flowers.
It's okay to tear someone's guts out - as long as they're Zombies OR a bad guy.
It's NOT okay to tear someone's guts out if they're a good guy.
It's okay to slit peoples throats and stab them through the head while they sleep - if they're potentially bad guys (without actually KNOWING if they are or not, just potentially, via association with a known Bad Guy)
It's NOT okay to slit peoples throats and stab them through the head while they sleep if they're a known Good Guy.

There's a WHOLE lot of shifting shades of grey in this show...
And to be honest THAT is what I most love about it.

When Negan finally gets his...and it's a matter of when not if...I'm actually hoping his death doesn't come at the hand of Rick - despite Rick's promise to him.

Do you want another spoiler?

Hahaha

No thanks.
Avid follower of the comics - but also keeping in mind that the show itself hasn't run pure to the comics.

I'm sure there'll be spoilers eventually that I'll give in to and read...

Really should exit all the FB and other online groups that post up TWD info...

...naaaaaaaahhhh...

haha yep! LOOK AT THE FLOWERS!! I mean that scene alone should've got more people outraged than the latest one.

I also agree, that when Negan finally gets his it's going to be a glorious moment. I know zero spoilers but I really think this season´ll be him tormenting our guys and then hopefully Jedi master and Carol return and see the puppy Rick's turned into and make him snap out of it. I really can't see them just going back to living their "regular" life now so them going where ever they're trying is just a pipe dream..Negan and his guys are in the 100's. I've never felt such dread in this show like when I watched last season's finale. Negan was toying with them all the time and made it clear we saw he had a whole army...and our guys are mad few...no way for them to fight back really. This is the first time in TWD I really feel like they're facing the impossible. Which in itself is such a cool feat. because allthough I know Negan will meet his day eventually I don't see how right now.

Here's to a great season 7!

See. I don't think so.
Numbers can mean everything OR they can mean absolutely nothing IF you calculate the numbers based upon each INDIVIDUALS commitment to the cause.
Whatever the cause is.

There have been sooo many Armies since forever that have lauded the balance sheets yet lost the battle.
Why? Get's REAL simple when it's not you and your thousand other troops facing me...but YOU facing ME.
When that moment comes it boils down to raw bones BELIEF.
Do you believe in your cause? The reason for your fight? Will you sacrifice everything for it? Will you DIE for it? And right now?

I'm picking the vast majority of Negan's followers are there through FEAR.
There'll be those who are there because they weren't cuddled enough by their parents, have unresolved issues, are all kindsa DSM-V certifiable nutso...but the vast majority will be simply scared and scarred people just inevitable trying to see their next sunrise in a world that no longer guarantees them that.

Fear only holds you for so long...as soon as the essence or individual cause of that fear is gone, then all bets are off.
Free will and choice comes into it then.

I would NOT be at all surprised if once Negan is out of the picture a whole bunch of his previous *loyal* troops went "Yeah nah he was a dick. Hated his guts. Glad he's gone. Bro, we're with you"
I would NOT be surprised if Rick actually ended up 'commanding' Negan's troops after all of this.
I don't think he'll take that role. He's never been comfortable doing more than he had to.

That perspective in and of itself is personal.
Coming from an upbringing/childhood/adulthood of active protesting for my own people.
Of having rows and rows of 'staunch believers' standing next to me in front of riot police...yet could count on one hand AFTER an unfortunate bandsaw accident...how many were STILL there beside me once their riot batons started raining down, the teeth started getting broken and blood started getting spilt...

End of the day it comes down to that.

What will you give - in order to get.

Here's to a great season 7!

Oh YES!
Then again I think every season (yeah I'll say it, even the Farm) has been great when you see for a collective story.

I am just happy that the comic and the story are now syncing up more accurately now. The scenes are starting to go down exactly as from the comics. This Glenn kill was lifted directly from the page of the comic and embedded into the frame. It was perfect. The other scene that nailed it really close was when Rick's new blonde cutey bit it, and wouldnt let go of Carl, and then to him being shot in the eye. The characters were off, but the scene itself played out near perfectly.

This go round the characters were spot on with the scene, so I have high hopes in relation to it following the comic now. They will be side by side come season 8.

If Rick, Glen, or Negan don't get an Emmy for that performance, I'll eat my shoe....

Glenn sold that fairly decent, and Negan certainly plays his art well. I think it would go to Rick though, I could feel the damn sincerity in his pain that very moment myself when he was about to chop off Carl's arm.

Well, here is Lucille's kills.

The shows formula is becoming tedious to endure.

They never have any wins, not but for a mere moment. Like oh check it out we got the prison, and it blows every single day. Its like the better the 'thing' they get the worse the price they have to pay (before during and after).

They never put much energy into them enjoying the perks they do get. There would be certain advantages to the apocalypse. Especially for the cynical dark humorist.

Like with Dawn of the Dead, they had that whole mall of stuff to run and play with. They ended up having to fight when the bikers came in and ruined everything, but at least before that they got to party (even with Roger sick and everything).

In WD each victory is increasingly excruciating.

And now they're killing off major characters, the one that tried to be the good in the world, and the other that made the most light of the situation.

Westworld is the best show now. I hope they're writing it to keep it going for several seasons... maybe even open up a zombie apocalypse version of the park!

I agree. King E wants to explore a relationship with her, and I feel like its what she needs to keep her back into the world of the living. I just know that Commando Carol will strike when she learns what Negan did.

Well man it was more brutal in the comic and the price they paid was heavier. Judith was dead shortly after birth in the comic after the last siege of the prison. The thing with an apocalypse (especially the zombie variety) is real situations hardly ever allow for anybody catching a break. And with how many years have already passed, those malls have long been gutted or occupied.

Glenn was being written to soft for the show. How many times did Nick almost kill him?? First the tied up walker, then when he ran off on his friend in the warehouse, then at the revolving door where Noah bit it, and then when he shot him outside of town?? And then Glenn was still naive enough to allow him to lead them, and almost got him torn apart by zombies again. Not only that, what kind of man allows his pregnant wife to go into a battle?? I bet the only reason she was unwell was because of the beatings and knife attack she sustained while her and Carol were held captive.

You will have to forgive me, but Glenn refused to learn, and frankly neither did Daryl. Glenn was too naive and ideological was barely being kept alive thanks to Rick and Daryl. And then Daryl is too stupid for his own good, its amazing he is not dead. As far as I am concerned, it is high time Glenn finally passed on. I a looking forward to the next episode, hopefully it goes back to Alexandria rather than Rick and co. taking Maggie to the hilltop. I can wait for that, but am dying to know whats going on at HQ.

Ha! I thought that also.
Perhaps someone can tell us if that follows the comic story line (I guess I could look it up couldn't I?)

He is quite charismatic, if not a little 'odd'? Of course, everyone in a zombie apocalypse seems odd.

Anyway, I think he is enchanted with her but, there must be another angle as well IMO.

I felt a little deflated after the episode and I suppose I just assumed the writers would keep the same momentum.
Can't show all of the cards in the first few episodes, can they? Time is needed to build the story.

Really people ?

Carol runs away because she got tired of the killing.

Ends up in the Kingdom that has everything she wants.

Then runs away from it.

Oh and throw in a guy with a pet tiger.

At least the King has his friar tuck with Morgan.

I am not going to miss this show when it's gone.

So much potential wasted.

However I do admit.

Rounding up pigs that fed on zombies, and giving it to the Saviors.

Was pretty awesome.

One way to get rid of that problem.

Should be interesting to see how THAT play comes out. I hope that isn't ALL of their plan, because I can't see that alone working. Negan is in a LOT of places at once, and taking out one cell isn't enough. Rick's group already learned that.

Unless he's coupling that with sending Knights in to clean up the others, all I see is Negan visiting doom on the Kingdom.

SPOILER FROM COMIC BELOW......

If they follow this....

Then eventually, the Kingdom, Hilltop, and Alexandria unite to take out Negan. This would seem to make sense, to play out for the season.

Neegan sure does have the ultimate god complex.

At least Darryl is keeping it real.

I must say, that first episode of the new series took horror and suspense to new heights.

I was hungover at the time, and feeling queasy already, and it was not a nice experience, even as a lifelong horror fan.

But then everything (apart from the zombies) that happened there has happened in my lifetime, or a generation or two before that.

People beaten to death with bats or clubs (The Yugoslavian War in my youth), parents forced to dismember their kids (ISIS recently), and in my interpretation Rick was actually hauled off to be raped (both female and male rape is part of every global war).

But yeah, the second episode was full of long fire-side chats again and yawn moments.

Formulaic for sure between the horrors and the dramas, but I guess you need the one to contrast and highlight the other.

Anyway, I hope somebody eventually shoves "Lucille" up Negan's where the sun don't shine.
I mean he actually has bit of a Dr. Frankenfurter smirk, and sees how far he can push people.
He must know eventually his days are numbered.

But it asks a wide moral question about history.
Sure one bully may be big and strong.
But there are many smaller people - why don't they rise up together and take him out?
He wouldn't stand a chance.
Can he mock everyone, because after him everybody knows there must come another dictator?
Better the devil you know (in the zombie apocalypse context)?

Why (for now) are they complicit in their own oppression?

Fear.

And as you say - only for now.

Everyone is a hero when fear no longer exists.
Which is what will bring Negan down.
When the Hate and Fear scales tip out towards Hate that's when you lose.
That's when you're dead.

Rick is experiencing a gnashing teeth moment - but I'm picking it's just a moment.
Once that's passed - then he'll tip into hate.
From there it's just a matter of time.
So too everyone else within Rick's crew...the only variable is time.

Negan may have an army right now.
BUT it's only an Army that holds it's line through fear.
Once the source of their fear (Negan) is removed then all bets are off.
Sure - there'll be the psycho ones who just revel in the death and perceived power.
But the majority aren't.

People will only ever do whatever they are willing to die for.
That fundamental truth hasn't changed since People.
Bottom-line is will you die?
No? Then you won't do it. You'll step aside.
Rick and his crew ARE willing to die.
Their continued existence is due to their dedication to die.

Take Negan out...and watch the scared change.
